Pitch Perfect

We had a lovely welcome from Julie and Andrew and, although it was our first visit, we were made to feel like old friends. The pitch in the 'Garden Area' was perfect with all facilities close by. The site is extremely well maintained and a credit to the wardens. The nightly visit of the Long Eared American Owl, which has been coming for over 20 years, was a highlight and certainly brought people together as a common topic and entertainment. Lovely fellow caravanners/Motor home members around our area - all very friendly. Only the presence of a unit with a continually yapping dog, whose irresponsible owners did nothing to check its behaviour, marred the visit. Grafham Water is very nearby with lovely walks. The Wheatsheaf pub, a few miles away, is worth a visit and did lovely meals. The road leading up to this site can be narrow in places - hence the instructions not to arrive early and clash with those departing. (Ignored by some!) We would certainly use this site again if we are in the area.

Fabulous weekend with a twist at the end.

We have visited Grafham Water site many time and love the location, spotless facilities and the relatively small club site. Again, we were not disappointed with our visit a lovely two days meeting up with friends and the weather was kind to us once more. All went very smoothly until our day of departure. We have been caravanning for nearly 10 years and hope we have mastered all the set up and breakdown. We connected the caravan to the car, carried out all of the usual tests to see if the lights worked and the car raised up on the jockey wheel and off we set. Upon leaving the site and going over the speed humps the caravan disconnected from the car with a very loud bang the breakaway cable did its job, and we came to a standstill. All of a sudden, we were surrounded by fellow members and Andrew the warden appeared asking if we were all ok. Andrew took control of the situation asking fellow members to help with pushing the caravan to a safe place and assessing the damage, we realized we were not going anywhere as the electric connector, breakaway cable and jockey wheel needed to be replaced. We were booked into Stamford Site to meet up with more friends that same day and Julie (warden) contacted the site to explain what had happened and that we would be staying for another night at Grafham Water and not going to Stamford. We were extremely fortunate that there is a very good caravan dealer 20 miles down the road and we managed to buy the replacement items from them to enable us to travel home the following day. All we can say is a very big thank you to both Andrew and Julie for helping with our troublesome situation, they went above and beyond to help us, and nothing was any trouble at all.

‘Sheer Bliss’

What lovely time we had here at the Grafham Water site. is not just about the area or the site, which was delightful by the way. It’s about being able relax. So I would like to thank the relief wardens who were on duty during our stay. Julie & Andrew who were friendly & relaxed and made our stay special. Cheers from the old guy with the bald head and blue T shirt!!!

Perfect peaceful site.

After a wait for the wind decrease we arrived at Grafham Water site. Easy booking in and shown where pitch was. It was big enough for our twin axle, although many reviews say they are small, I think it depends on the pitch locality Although site looked full it was so quiet. The showers were spotless and room for your toiletries and hanging space for towels / clothes, with COVID 19 regulations in operation Ideally situated for long walks or cycle routes. All in all a lovely well kept site and will definitely be returning. Well done to the wardens.

Lovely Site. Shout out for the Wardens!

Grafham is a small and compact, but we really enjoyed our time here. Ideally placed for Grafham Water which is great for walking and cycling. It can get very busy at weekends, so if you intend doing the circuit weekdays are best.. Its about 10 miles/3 hours and worth the effort. There are also plenty of farmland walks for those with less energy Cambridge is about 30 mins drive and a joy to walk around. I must commend the wardens here. During our stay, a caravan that was leaving had an electrical fire, and their reaction was of the highest standard. They were there in a flash with extinguishers, and soon had the caravan isolated on an open area of grass. Also, we had some very high winds and rain on one night, and saw the warden walking the site and pushing in awning pegs that had come loose. Excellent.

Tiny pitches

Some of the awning pitches here are much too small, with the result that the wardens are telling visitors with wide vans & awnings to park off-peg, closer to the non-awning pitches next door. Never seen so many vans parked off-peg. So if you like to look at the sidewall of a caravan less than 6m away, fine. If not, avoid this site. The wardens are between a rock and a hard place trying to fit everyone in. Management need to get a grip on this, change a load of those white pegs to blue. Other than that, everything was fine, didn't use the facilities as mostly closed/restricted due to covid.

As good as it gets

Friendly reception and welcome, which, after a very wet and windy drive was very welcome. The pitches all seem to be level and the standard of cleanliness throughout the site was exemplary. Initially I had a bit of a fight with the water and frankly I do not know why the club doesn’t standardise on the tap fittings throughout their sites, but with an additional attachment all was perfect. We were lucky because the relief managers who were on duty during our stay had also been motor-homers and when we asked about getting down to the waterside they suggested we drove round to the Mander Visitor carpark which is right at the water’s edge, so we did just that and had some very enjoyable walks etc. from there. There are no height barriers. Would we go again? Yes definitely, it is a fairly peaceful site (especially out of school holidays!) and well positioned for this lovely reservoir. We wanted to thank the wardens before we left but were unable to find them as they were out on cleaning duties etc. so I hope this review reaches them.

Lovely, peaceful site.

This was our 3rd visit here, 13-09-20 for 6 nights. As always very quiet, peaceful site. Disappointed to have to pay full price for no facilities due to a broken boiler, we understood no hot water for showers but didn’t understand why the toilets could not have been available, people could still wash their hands with soap and cold water! The club should’ve either given a discount or even offered club vouchers by way of a gesture, at least these vouchers could go towards another booking maybe! Also no use of bins at the service points due to wardens not being able to collect rubbish due to a broken tractor but had to take rubbish to main bins near reception, whilst this wasn’t a problem we felt the wardens could’ve easily still emptied the bins by using a wheelbarrow giving them something to do as obviously no cleaning of the facilities was needed! The walking and cycling around the reservoir is lovely. We still love this site and will return again but please CMC let the wardens have a mended tractor and boiler as we understand both have been broken for quite some time!!
