Well kept and well maintained

We were visiting this site on our return from the Cotswolds. We come from just the other side of Huntingdon. What a gem! This site is well maintained and well kept by the wardens who do a magnificent job. The site is a short drive to Grafham Water where you can enjoy a day on or by the water. Easy to access from both the A1 and A14. The site is quiet and peaceful. There is a chip van comes in on a Friday. Well recommended. They were delicious. The wardens are friendly and knowledgable. The facilities kept clean and tidy. Nearby supermarkets at Huntingdon ( Tesco, Aldi,Lidl, Sainsbury’s.). The town centre has a mixture of shops but is also historical.

Rural Delight - Paulol

Our home is in the neighbouring county of Northamptonshire and quite close to the Grafham Water Site so it is an easy tow with our touring caravan and within half an hour we can be pitching up on site and literally in a different world. We visit this site at least once every year and have found the wardens to be affable to their guests and very able in looking after this welcoming site. It is not necessary to travel huge distances to be 'away' on holiday and on this occasion our 4 night stay was not enough. There is much to do and see in the immediate area with quiet lanes to cycle or field paths for the walker, a 6 mile circuit visiting the neighbouring village of Easton is easy to plan with an OS Pathfinder map or your portable GPS device. The St Ives Park & Ride service only 14 miles from the site offers a convenient way to reach Cambridge and all its attractions on the guided bus system, a quite unique experience. If you like to dine out at affordable prices the Mermaid Inn at Ellington is under three miles away and you are sure to receive a warm welcome. There is so much to explore in the area from this quiet, well managed site and we will be back next year for certain

One of the best.

Loved our stay at this site. The wardens in charge were very friendly and helpful. The facilities are the cleanest we have ever seen them and all pitches were extremely well kept. The little shed shares lots of helpful information, places to go and things to do. A short cycle ride to the cafe at Grafham Water Visitors Centre or the community pub where we were made to feel welcome too. Thank you. Hope to see you again!

Little gem.

We had a mid week stay here. The pitches are a very good size and the facilities were absolutely spotless. The information hut had brochures / local information to suit everyone’s needs. The little corner shop, 10 minutes walk away, has everything you might need and the guy there is super friendly. Most importantly the staff on site were the most caring, friendly and helpful we have met on any site. Nothing was too much trouble. Cannot recommend this site highly enough.

Excellent mid week stay

We stayed Tuesday to Friday and had a lovely stay, quiet nights, lovely walks, hired bikes at grafham water - thanks to the site staff we got a discount on hire. The staff work very hard in keeping the site clean, shower block is heated and wcs etc were clean at all times. The village has a community shop about a 10 minute walk where you can order a newspaper, the community pub is also here. Enjoyed our stay very much and plan to return.

Unhelpful staff

Small site near Graham water. Facilities are ok. Expensive. Staff are not particularly helpful. Our pitch wasn't very flat. Lots of signs about rules around the place. Small village with coop pub . If you want to visit Grafham water and camp not much choice. Probably won't be back.

Perfect place for a quiet weekend getaway

Easy access to site through village of Grafham. Upon arrival at 7.30pm the staff were really friendly and helpful. Even in the dark when we were having issues finding the electric hook up, they were just a call away and came to help us immediately. Lovely quiet surroundings and level pitches. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the showers, they are perfectly adequate but could do with being more powerful. However, they were clean and hot which was the main thing. We will definitely be returning for some more weekend breaks

Lovely peaceful stay

Our first time at this site as normally need to book site closer to Cambridge city centre but liked the reviews For this one and fancied a change. We weren’t disappointed, Very peaceful and well maintained site and staff were lovely and friendly. We had very good weather so did a ten mile walk around Grafham water but there is also bike hire at the reservoir car park if you need. Definitely recommend the pizza van that stopped there on Friday night!

Nice quiet site

My wife and I stayed here a week in our VW Campervan and awning. It’s quite a compact site. The pitches are very close to each other. I opted for a pitch just to the left of the main drive in, which had trees to the rear and was fine. The site is quite a sun trap and sheltered from the wind. Nice wardens and clean shower block facilities like any caravan club site.

No problem with mobile phone reception,(Tesco and o2) so didn’t really need the wi-fi. I did try the free club Wi-Fi and was ok, except you had to keep refreshing it (I much prefer the completely free Wi-Fi offered by the Friendly Club)

Location wise, the site is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and very peaceful. Grafham water, reservoir is about a 15 min walk away, very nice. You can walk round it in about 3 hours. We did it 3 times over the course of the week. Not much else to do really,  unless you are prepared to walk for miles or take your vehicle out. We drove to Whipsnade zoo one day, about an hours drive away. We also waked to the town of Huntingdon which is a two hour walk, fine if the weather is good.

The site shop has the basics only, so come well prepared. There is some basic shops scattered around but you will pay the premium. Theres a little community pub and shop about 20 mins away. Further afield, on the other side of the reservoir, there is a Wheatsheaf serving a full menu with beer garden, there’s also a village Post Office shop in this location

A pizza van shows up on site occasionally ,very nice and at a reasonable price. If you have children, please note the little on-site play area is closed, needs attention, I thought was a bit disappointing.

Generally though, a nice site and the only thing preventing us from returning is that we’ve done it
