A great site made special by the wardens

We have visited Grafham Water club site many times over the years but our most recent visit 22 to 24 June 2022 deserves special mention because of the warm welcome we received. We first met wardens Andrew and Julie at Bladon Chains in October 2019, on the occasion of my 70th birthday - and my wife was in hospital in Oxford. A difficult period and Andrew and Julie were exceptionally kind and supportive. We met again by chance at Grafham last year and this was an opportunity for my wife Sheila to get to know them. On arriving this year we received a very warm welcome - and out of the thousands of visitors they receive it was so nice to be remembered. Add to the welcome the fact that the site was immaculate, a testimony to the continuous effort they both put in to ensuring everything is as good as it can be. Exceptional in every respect Thank you!!

Stopped for one night...what a gem!

We decided to stop here for one night whilst travelling from the North to the Brighton site. What a gem! The site is hidden away in the country side, but within walking distance of a Small village with a community shop and a pub. Its only a couple of miles away from the busy A1, but so quiet and tranquil, you feel like you have stepped backwards into another world. The site is small and quaint, an old red telephone box greats you at reception, full of flowers. There is a children's playground, but never saw any children on it. Our pitch was next to the exit gate, but didn't hear any noise at all, and we slept with all the motorhome windows wide open as it was very warm. Staff very friendly and toilets very clean. We will definitely return when we get chance and stop longer. We want to watch the plane looping the loop again whilst having breakfast, and listen to the woodpecker on the tree behind us. A great small site!

Great site for a quiet getaway

Absolutely lovely site with immaculate facilities, very quiet location and although not walking distance, pub with food in local village Perry, was lovely. All staff on site were really nice and the site maintenance was also immaculate. My only suggestion would be to leave the disabled toilet open when cleaning main toilets 10:30-12 as we were ready to leave at 10:45 and realised couldn’t go to toilet before we left. Will definitely be returning.

Clean and quiet site

A very good site, clean and well maintained with friendly staff. Not as close to Grafham Water as I hoped, as I have trouble walking far, but the water and activity centre is just a 5 minute drive. No shop on site, but Village with shop and pub a 15 minute walk.

Great stay

Delightful site, very quiet and beautifully kept. Friendly helpful wardens. Really enjoyed our stay. Can't fault the site at all but if visiting the area be aware that you cannot launch your own kayak or paddleboard on Grafham Water itself.

Great site

We have just had our second stay here and it’s a great site. Very clean and the wardens busy all the time and very friendly, plenty of lovely peaceful walks around. Looking forward to staying again next year. A brilliant pizza van twice a week.

Nice, neat and small site

Nice site very neat small - 49 hardstanding 20 grass pitches. Very peaceful. One of the most expensive so far though! Walk to the lake via lovely farmland and beside bluebell woods, plus 8 mile walk around the lake. Good cowslips, bugle and other wild flowers.

very friendly

this site was very quiet and friendly with both staff and other visitors offering to help after we forgot to pack our aqua roll and realised our additional water tank in the garage of our motorhome was empty. It has plenty of green spaces between the pitches and does not feel like you are crammed in. There are fields with public pathways from the site where your dog can run free and a short walk to grafham water. Ate at the wheatsheaf Inn near grafham water food was excellent and dogs welcome would definitely recommend a visit

Hidden Jewel

We have been caravanning since 2008 and in this time we have travelled extensively in the UK seeking out those distant corners to explore and in which to relax in. In our quest for new horizons and adventures we had completely overlooked what can be found almost literally on our doorstep and this was certainly the case with our five night stay at Grafham Water in May 2022. It is a big advantage to have a good knowledge of any area and this beautiful corner of Cambridgeshire is familiar to us with its charming market towns of St Neots, St Ives and Huntingdon close by and good cycling routes available to get there. A little further afield are the Cities of Peterborough and Cambridge. The site itself is well laid out on a gentle slope with access to open countryside at the back of the site and easy walking to the huge reservoir of Grafham Water to join the cyclable track around the lakes circumference. The sanitary conveniences and recycling facilities are well maintained and the showers probably among the most sizeable we have encountered. Ideal, with lenty of space for parents managing young children. The site wardens are professional and efficient in their daily routines, always courteous as is normal for C & MH Club sites and they have ensured that the site is maintained to a high standard. We can guarantee that we will be returning, making that rather tiresome journey of less than 15 miles from home but once arrived and set up we could be almost anywhere and completely relaxed and on holiday!!
