Pleasant site

A pleasant site with everything up to the usual club high standard. Slightly disappointed that we were told we could not drive our motorhome onto the pitch but must reverse up to the marker "as we like uniformity". First time we have come across this in five years. Hope this is not a new club policy. We like the choice depending on the position and condition of the pitch.

Becoming one of our 'go to' sites

About 2 hours drive from home this is one of a very short list of sites we will squirt out to for a couple of nights, it is lovely in so many respects. The wardens on duty for our stay were the same relief wardens as on our last visit. Lovely people and welcoming....just how a club should be, sadly some other sites are not so well blessed. Grafham Water is a fabulous reservoir, cycling, walking, dog walking, fishing whatever. We have just got back from another couple of nights and whilst the site was full there was no pressure everything was taken in its stride. The facilities were spotless. We visited the community shop in the village for the first time, a useful place if you need buy essentials. The weather was positively Mediterranean, edging 30 degrees, which was an unexpected bonus. Recommended.

Peaceful stay

I stayed for 6 nights in my motorhome at the end of August. A lovely friendly welcome at reception where I was advised a pitch had been reserved for me due to the length of my motorhome, but was also given the choice of another empty pitch too. The site is lovely and clean with an abundance of large containers of beautiful flowers…the sunflowers were huge at well over 10ft tall. I didn’t use the facilities so can’t comment on those. The site is perfectly placed for walks or cycle rides around Grafham Water and local lanes and tracks. One of the highlights of my week was seeing Ollie, the North American Horn Eared owl, what a beauty. I would most definitely visit this site again. Thank you to the wardens and all the hard work they do.

Peaceful 2 night stay - great for dogs!

Myself, spouse and cockapoo fancied a short (local-ish) campervan break over the August BH weekend and thanks to the C&MH website’s late availability function we secured a non-serviced pitch at Grafham. I always think a camping site experience is influenced 75% by the site/its owners and 25% by your fellow guests. I’m glad to say neither could be faulted on our trip. The site itself is relatively small, pitches are level (-ish, I did see one van with levelling blocks) and there’s a good choice of either shaded or open pitches depending on your preference. Cleanliness and neatness throughout was exemplary. Dog (or non-dog) walking starts from the site boundary with lovely treks either toward the reservoir or into the local countryside. Note Grafham Water Reservoir itself is still a fair schlep so those with mobility or accessibility concerns may be best served by driving the couple of miles to the visitor centre. Grafham village has a community pub (note limited opening days/hours) and shop but not much else so best to arrive fully stocked for your stay. The Indian takeaway is a brisk 10 min walk and definitely worthy of a visit. However if you’re after a few days of flatland cycling/walking (and even lake swimming, available in a small area of the reservoir) then I would heartily recommend this site for a peaceful and friendly stop.

Lovely Site

Stayed for two nights here. All facilities were spotlessly clean and the site is well maintained. We enjoyed a meal at the Indian restaurant in the village.

Quiet site with good, clean facilities. Not huge amounts to do for children in the area

We had a fortnight at this nice, smallish site - our first visit. The wardens were very helpful and friendly and worked hard to keep the site and facilities in good condition. Ollie, the great-horned owl was a real bonus and was visible during the day and evening. There's plenty of walking and cycling opportunites and a great Indian restaurant in the village. Grafham Water is worth a visit as are Ely, St Ives, St Neots, the Raptor Foundation, Cambridge, Houghton Mill, Paxton Pits and RSBP Fen Drayton. At the moment, avoid Huntingdon unless you enjoy traffic jams and diversions. on thay subject, the new A1/A14 junctions might play havoc with your satnav. As with many sites, the CAMC insistence on people only arriving after a certain time seems to be ignored both by wardens and visitors alike. Its a bit frustrating to see people being allowed on site up to an hour before they're supposed to arrive, when others bother to follow the rules. Nevertheless, we had a good time thanks.

Lovely small site

This was our second visit to Grafham, sadly only for a few days this time. We were welcomed warmly and the staff were unfailingly cheerful and helpful throughout. The eagle owl is still in attendance! The Grafham location has plenty to offer, especially around the Grafham Water area - good walks, waterspouts etc. We had an excellent dinner in The Wheatsheaf, West Perry on the Saturday evening. We would recommend this site and will happily visit again.

We felt lucky to have chosen this site for our first outing in our motorhome

this site is wonderful, so peaceful, incredibly well maintained and spotlessly clean. We couldn't have wished for a nicer site on our very first trip. All staff - especially Andrew - were so friendly and helpful - always time for a smile and a little chat...brilliant! We will be coming back - and have decided to do that at least once a year
