Grafham Water retreat

If your fishing or sailing, its very close by, to the lake. If not its great for walking and biking. We just walked the lane, with Abbey, our 2 year old, to the edge of the water side and enjoyed the site swing and tyres, play area. It was a very quiet and peaceful night, most people were locked in, as it was raining  again.........

Floating Week

Arrived on the Saturday and only grass pitches were available. Not normally a problem but the weather made itself felt rather strongly. Within 48 hours the 16hrs of rain turned a very wet pitch into a bit of a pond. We had pools of water at various places around the van and the ground was so wet, the water came up through the awning carpet. We had fun working around the weather but the week itself was lovely and gave us the break we were looking for. We were alone in the area we pitched in all week but the rain really did cause some issues. We left on the Saturday and I was anxious about getting the van off the pitch but luck was with us. We felt sorry for the warden and her husband as they were doing the best that they could but you cannot control the weather can you. Talking to her before we left, she stated that 7 people had to be rang and advised not to go as the grass pitches were being closed quicker than England left the Euros. Otherwise, the site is lovely and we had a great time. If the weather is kind to you I am confident you will too. Respect and thanks to the wardens again for coping with a difficult situation out of their control.

Weather & pets

The site itself is clean and up to standard, the reception staff are good and gave clear advise. However the whole site really suffered due to the weather, we had a choice of 4 pitches all virtually under water. We have 2 dogs and had to carry them from the road to the caravan as the grass was so bad, and it was pointless putting up an awning, so if the weathers bad check you have a dry pitch before going. We went to see what grafham water was like thinking 2 dogs would be fun? However it's clearly not for dogs as we only found 1 dog bin and the whole area dogs must be on a lead which we obeyed. I feel a couple of areas that dogs can have a run would be better.

nice for short stay

Small site, facilities very clean and well looked after.Pitches vary from hard to soft from sun to shade. We had a grass shaded pitch, suited the dog. There is a very large dog walking area on the old caravan site just down the lane. The actual dog walk is partly dank and muddy. The pitches are sometimes sited next to large hedges on the other side of which are situated bungalows from a small housing development.if your dog barks they shout at you through the hedge..not nice. Our dog does bark but is not allowed to annoy neighbours or us.By the way we are not dog mad..although this may sound like it. The area around is somewhat flat and maybe boring to some.If you have a bike, like to walk miles of sail or fish..you may be suited here. very nice for a two or three night stay..that should be long enough. The staff here are very very pleasant and could not be more helpful.

Lovely stay

Excellent spot for cycling Grafham Water, village roads before getting to the water. Very peaceful. Site much improved since our last visit by the caravan club. Some grass pitches not available as it had been raining a lot before our visit so limited your choice. Would recommend the site if you are looking to get away for a few days.

Great Stay

Just had a lovely stay at Grafham. Delightful and peaceful site and such lovely wardens John and Sharon. Nothing too much trouble, some of the cleanest facilities I've seen on a Club site. I just wish fellow holidaymakers would observe the speed limit. Several including one who had 20/30/ year membership badges on their van sped around the site, how ignorant and careless! There's often children around and a lovely family of ducks and ducklings, they could be severely injured by speeding. The club needs to deal with this issue, however we really enjoyed our stay and took advantage of the nearby Community Shop, well promoted by the wardens.

Excellent stay at Grafham

We had a very enjoyable stay at Grafham. Beautifully set out, the wardens were friendly and helpful and we even had a great (huge) owl in residence around the site. A duck proudly paraded her five ducklings through the site twice a day. A quiet peaceful site although bored children using the playground area at the weekend had to be asked to return to their parents at 10pm at night by the warden so the rest of us could get to sleep. The facilities were immaculate.

Clean site, wardens welcoming, noise from farmers

The site is lovely and clean as all CC sites we have visited are, wardens helpful and polite, a small park, a small dog walk leading onto farmland.

The site it self is lovely and quiet,

Unfortunately the farmers who have land around thd area are not peaceful, with there gas popping gun shot sound machines which are very loud !!! Every 15 minutes during the day, so if you have dogs, like we did, who do not like fireworks, loud noises or gun shots, please do not take them to this site, our poor dog was petrified for the whole weekend. If we had known this we 3ould of not of come to this site,  that is why I am highlighting this in my review, as I would not like to see other dogs as scared as mine was.

There are no local facilities close by, no local pubs, no takeaways, no supermarkets. However the shop on site sells essentials, and a local community shop is in the village,

If u want stuff to do close by, then I would not recommend his site except for the reservoir.

If you want a site holiday and time to chill and relax and do nothing, this is the site.

It is very close to grafam water center, which is nice on the south and east, if you get to the north and west, Beware of the swarm of midges, which is terrible. We rode our bikes around the 9 mile reservoir, the last few miles was not nice with the midges. Unfortunately due to the loud banging noises from the farms around and the midges around the reservoir, we won't be returning. Not due to the site, but the local area and noise.
