We returned during the school holidays after a few years away. The location is superb and we enjoyed daily walks through the dunes and plenty of time on the beach, making use of the NT car park at Godrevy Head. The wardens do a fantastic job in very challenging circumstances. Yes the facilities are dated compared to some other sites but still perfectly adequate. The wardens did a magnificent job cleaning the toilet block etc every day - what a pity that site visitors were unable to leave the facitlities clean after using them. Are their bathrooms at home left in such a state? As for the dog waste........!!There were signs asking people to deposit waste in the bins by the back gate rather than leaving waste/poo bags around the site - one would hope that Club dog owners were mindful of others but obviously not. Similarly, recycling - the wardens had put up innumerable signs explaining the system, but we still saw people putting general waste in the recycling skips and then the wardens had to retrieve it. Come on Club members, we are very lucky to have a site in such a wonderful location, let's do our bit to look after it. Thank you to the Warden Team for your friendly welcome & your hard work.
Had visited this pleasant, all grass pitch site, some years ago outside the peak period. However, this visit was in August and the site was very full and as a result choice of pitches was restricted. The site is well located for a beach holiday near the Gwithian Towans beach and is within reach of other interesting locations in Cornwall. As there is no car park on the site any extra car has to be accommodated on the pitch which is restrictive when the site is full. The toilet block is adequate but does need refurbishment. The external shower is a bonus for cleaning wet suits but could be better located. The external sink for cleaning barbecues was appreciated and should be adopted by other club sites. This site, due to its location near a surfing beach where dogs are allowed, attracts more than its fair share of dogs. We would visit this site again but not in August.
This is our 3rd time here in 4 years and absolutely love the site and it's location.
Booked for 17 nights and even though the weather in Gwythian was quite awful compared to other parts of the country we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it...
The 4staff are exceptional at everything they do and are a credit to CAMC.........BUT!!!!!!!
The walking of dogs around the site and dumping there mess everywhere MUST STOP!
It is hygiene unfriendly and members MUST use the lane at the back of the site.
The club MUST spend money on upgrading the shower and toilet facilities as a matter of urgency as that is also so outdated when you look at other sites.
Paying almost £500 to stay here you should not have to keep showering in your own unit all the time...
Having booked already for 2019 we hope that some renovations have been done by then
Outstanding site for location with superb welcoming and helpful staff. The Caravan and Motorhome Club are relying on the popularity and location of this site to justify high site fees without actually investing in the site. The shower block is dated and ‘tired’ with inadequate water supply to the site for the volume of guests in peak season. Investment and refurbishment seems to be continually postponed - CAMC need to bring the facilities up to the standard expected for the site fees charged.
This is a wonderful site and in a wonderful location opposite the dunes over which you can walk to the beach. Or you can drive to a NT car park only a 1mile drive away which is really convenient and easy. The beaches are just fabulous! The wardens were amazing and very helpful. They clearly work very hard keeping the shower block clean, it is a shame that the club have not updated this block yet as it needs it. 6 showers are just not enough for a site this size. We frequently had to queue and the block is definitely showing signs of wear and tear.
Despite this,we had a wonderful holiday and if they club were to update the facilities we would not hesitate to return.
Just returned from a weeks stay at this excellent site. The wardens were very friendly and accommodating as we arrived early from a week at devon and were able to get pitched up before 10 am. The beach across the sand dunes is magnificent and dog friendly. Visited st ives stmichaels mount lands end and Penzance all within easy distance and ample parking for a motorhome lovely quiet site and although a lot of reviews state the toilet facilities need upgraded I found them to be clean and in good working order so dont understand the complaints . Handy Lidl at the bottom of the road and beach location make this a favorite cc club.
This was our first CAMC outing and we were not disappointed. The wardens greeted us with pleasantries and warm smiles. He showed us to our pitch and advised us on the best way to pitch our trailer tent. The site it’s self it a beautiful quiet location with the view of Godrevy lighthouse from the play area. The pitches are well spaced out so had plenty of space. There is plenty to do in and around the surrounding area.We visited Lands End,The Lizard,Perranporth,Newquay Falmouth as a few examples. The facilities on the site were excellent. The toilet blocks were always fresh and clean, the bins were emptied daily and you could always hear the sound of the tractor cutting the grass...oh what a lovely smell 😀,oh and how could I forget the visit of the fish n chip van twice a week. All in all,my family, dog and cat included had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to go back there.Thank you to the wardens who always make it their while to ensure we have a lovel time 😀.
Visited here a few times now, and it was a last minute booking on a pitch with no awning, perfect size pitch (for our motorhome), facilities immaculate, lovely and friendly wardens, the perfect dog friendly beach (to the left of the lifeguard hut) is a short stroll away with stunning scenery!! Thank you!!
This is the fourth time we have stayed on this fabulous site and it never disappoints and due to the number of familiar faces from previous years we are not alone. The wardens are friendly, organised and welcoming - they need to be on this busy and popular all grass site. The site is clean, tidy and well kept close to the beach.
Piches are all grass but well laid out and spacious and immediately maintained after each guest has departed, all nice and tidy and ready for the next visitor.
The showers could do with little more power and compared to some sites are beginning to look a bit out dated BUT they are more than adequate after a day on the beach. The outside wetsuit shower and the outside BBQ cleaning since are a bonus.
The site staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you Gary, Sarah, Steve and Fran you do a great job.
The walk over the sand dunes is great especially when you reach the beach which is really clean and there are beaches with stunning scenery and stunning sunsets to enthral you.
Gwithian beach and Hayle Estuary are beautiful. Behind the car park at Gwithian Towans is a lovely cafe ‘Sunset Surf’. Well worth a visit for breakfast (opens at 10am).
We will be back for our 5th visit soon.
This site never disappoints. The wardens are friendly, fair and organised. The site is clean, tidy and well kept close to the beach and dog friendly. The showers could do with little more power however they are more than adequate after a day on the beach. The outside wetsuit shower is a bonus. We will be visiting again soon.
