Family Summer Holiday July / August 2019

Visited with our Folding Camper. Godrevy’s layout was great with modest sized bays for c 6 – 8 very generous pitches. The location is fantastic, but be aware that, whilst you can walk; through a gate, across the road, through the sand dunes to the cliff path - the way down to the superb beach is a lot further to walk, especially with all your beach and surf gear. But, the beaches are fantastic – the whole area is fantastic. Staff on site did a good job keeping the facilities clean, which, despite some of the reviews, were very good – In fact some historical reviews about this site being less good than others did make me wonder what the other sites could possibly be like! A big thank you to Ness, who helped me make the original booking, just as the season was starting – Incidentally my Tesco delivery was not allowed to drive to our pitch – I had booked this so that I didn’t need to do a shop on arrival, but, as it happened, this wouldn’t have been a problem as there is a large Lidl, which we used as a Corner Shop, just down the road, as well as an M&S/Next/Boots, a little further. On the Sunday of our departure, we were packed up by about midday and wanted to delay our long drive home until the evening, but even though we only had our Folding Camper, officially there was nowhere on-site to leave it – No parking facilities – We did, however manage to make an un-official arrangement with a neighbouring pitch. If you want a really special meal out, we highly recommend, The Rockpool.

2019 Visit

Absolutely loved this site. Everything was perfect and would recommend this site to anyone. The park staff were brilliant and very hard working. Dog walks from this site are fantastic and the scenery is spectacular. Will be back 2020 and looking forward to it.

Summer at Godrevy

Godrevy is a great family beach holiday site. The wardens all work extremely hard to keep the facilities in good order over the peak periods which is no mean feat. The pitches in some areas of the site could do with some rethought of layout/access and sizing: some pitch surfaces really begin to suffer from prolonged groundsheet use towards the end of the peak season too. Not sure what the answer is - perhaps mesh reinforced pitches. Godrevy is in an excellent location for many beaches nearby, Hayle is well served with Supermarkets and surf gear shops, a good Farm Shop/restaurant is also nearby at Trevaskis. Penzance, Falmouth and St Ives have art and craft galleries galore, Further away, Newlyn has Mackerel Sky for amazing fish tapas (summer opening) as well as the Tolcarne Inn for superb fish dishes. North west Cornwall is an amazing area to explore, especially if you get good weather.

Great site

We stayed here for two weeks from mid August on. It was our second visit this year. Although the site was full most of the time it never seemed over busy. The wardens offered a friendly and help full welcome on arrival. The rain was coming down like stair rods when we arrived so this helped. The pitches are all grass but drain really well. There were no muddy pitches which was a surprise with the amount of rain that had fallen on our arrival day. During our stay the wardens did a great job keeping the facilities clean. But it would help if people could clean up after themselves (gents). Pick up any tissue that you drop on the floor and use the toilet brushes provided. Not much to stay apart from this is a great site in a beautiful part of the country. Well done to the wardens and keep up the good work.

Fantastic site in an excellent location with fab wardens.

Having been coming to this site for 24 years, we were very happy to have spent our summer here. The site is so well suited to get to both coasts and plenty of interesting places. The new wardens and assistants offer a very relaxed stay and make sure everyone enjoys their stay. The old toilet block has had an update and offered plenty of hot water with very little waiting. This year they had a pizza company for 2 evenings which provided fantastic fresh pizza as well as the fish and chip van.keep up the great work.

Cornish holiday

The site was a little more remote than we realised, having a motorhome and a dog, we have to rely on public transport. This was very infrequent and often late, but the bus drivers were amazing and so helpful. The staff at the site are very helpful but a bit more detailed information on the buses would be helpful. A bus goes to St Ives and, in the opposite direction, St Agnes Head. The latter is really worth a visit and the walk along the coastal path gives amazing views. There is no pub within walking distance so you have to take this into consideration when meal planning. The site is very good for those wanting to surf or spend time on the beach.

Near beautiful beaches

We last visited this area 50 years ago, so we were looking forwards to revisiting the area. We were not disappointed. The site is very good, little bays of 5 or 6 pitches surrounded by flowers and shrubs. The grass pitches were well kept and the warden checked each pitch as the visitors left, before new people were allowed on. We found no problem with the hot showers, always piping hot, and only twice in 8 days did I need to queue and then only for a few minutes. Everything was kept spotless, and all around the site are water and waste water points. Easy to walk to the beach from here, there is a bus stop outside the site, with a Lidls just down the road, and a Marks and Spencers, and Boots a mile away. We found it easy to get to St Ives, Mousehole and the Minack Theatre from here, all about 30 - 40 minutes journey. The wardens were as usual for CC very friendly, and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

Great location near the beach

We stayed here for our main summer holidays in July, firstly I must say the weather was fabulous which makes such a difference, we had clear blue skies for most of our stay. For us the main attraction of this site is the close proximity to the vast sandy beach which was clean and dog friendly. To access the beach you have a 15 minute walk across sand dunes which would be very difficult to get across for people with reduced mobility. The beach is perfect for families, the sand shelves gently into the water so you had to walk quite far out before you were in deep water. In addition the beach is patrolled by lifeguards from the RNLI. The site wardens were helpful and friendly. All pitches at Godrevy are grass which we liked & they were well drained. Hayle is approx 2 miles away from the site and there is a full range of shops/supermarkets there. The town of St Ives is 5 miles away by road or a 75 minute walk along the beach during low tide. St Ives is well known and quaint but it was packed with tourists (like us) when we visited. In fact there were so many people that it was almost unpleasant. The beaches at St Ives are fantastic. So to sum up we had a great time at Godrevy largely helped by the wonderful weather, but also by the great location by a beautiful beach.

Nice Site, well located.

We stayed here for I week June 19. Very nice site with very polite and helpful wardens. We will be back soon as we very much enjoyed our stay. Only one slight negative is there were lots of dogs on site and some which seemed to be continually barking but this is not the fault of the site. All in all a very nice site.

Feel a need to write another review in view of negative reviews

I was very sorry to read that some people have had a bit of an unhappy experience at Godrevy and although Ive written reviews before I felt compelled to write again. We went for a long weekend as our son lives in Hayle (so we are regular visitors). We went 14 to 17 June when the weather had been torrential rain. Knowing that Godrevy is all grass pitches we were a bit worried about being on grass but there were not problems at all. The site was pretty much full but we had no problems finding a pitch or with anything at all. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay as usual. The site was as well run as ever. The sun actually shone too. There were lots of dogs on the site (including our 3) but there were no problems at all with noise, mess or anything. Thank you to the team for keeping the standards up on this site. We look forward to seeing you again in October.
