Not made welcome!

We arrived at the site at 20 minutes past eight expecting to pull in quietly and see the warden in the morning. I would have put our membership card through the office letter box. However we were approached by the warden and I immediately apologised for us being late, we had had a long difficult day. She was not interested in my apology but concerned that we were 'foreign' as we have French plates on our car. I explained that we had been held up but she demanded my card to prove that we were members. We were told to pitch on the first available pitch and not to drive around. Of course we were happy to do this. The following morning I went to the office to explain that we did not feel welcome and we had only been 20 minutes late. I was not looking to argue and I thought we could easily smooth the situation and we would then enjoy our holiday. Instead I got a lecture on her working hours, fire regulations, and various questions about how far we had driven and that we should have stopped at the services overnight. I decided we would not stay as long as we had booked as I found her attitude rude and unwelcoming. She could so easily have put things right, she had no idea what sort of day we had had but was only concerned at being put out. The site was clean and very pleasant, the walk to the beach was excellent for the dogs and we enjoyed the local area. We may return another year when different wardens are on site. I accept that it is a difficult job and hard work but we provide holiday accommodation ourselves and would never treat a guest in this manner. I found it quite upsetting

Lovely Easter break!

We enjoyed a lovely long weekend Easter break at Godrevy the weather was absolutely amazing. Upon arrival & setting up we had an electrical fault, we moved pitches & it was found that the pitch connection post was faulty. The wardens were brilliant, very helpful & patient. From the site there are many stunning walks & access to beautiful sandy beaches & the sea. There are many nice places to eat & drink in Gwithian & Hayle which are close to the site. The site is clean & tidy & well worth a visit.

A Cornish Seaside Gem

Spent three great nights at this site, soon after it reopened this Spring. (2019)

The pitches (all grass) have recovered well after a rest over the winter, and the facilities block has undergone a “refresh”, leaving it well up to the standards at other C&MC sites. A credit to the club local managers , having acted on previous reviewers observations.

The site itself is in a great location and is easily accessed off the nearby A30 (just remember to follow the Club Directions).

As mentioned, the biggest attraction this site has is its location, a short walk from the three-mile (5 km) unbroken sandy beaches of the eastern coast of St. Ives Bay. There are also substantial sand dunes known as The Towans which stretch from Porth Kidney Sands in the west all the way to Godrevy Head. This stretch of beach is popular for surfing, particularly in the Gwithian area.

A fantastic place for a short break in the off season, and also for family seaside holidays in the summer.

(Just one caution for families with small (or not so small) children. The walk to the beaches requires crossing a road on a “blind” bend. Not a problem if you keep you’re eyes and ears open, but you might want to keep hold of youngsters who aren’t quite so traffic aware as you cross safely.... Don’t let this put you off, Godrevy is brilliant place for family holidays, especially if you like the outdoor beach life!)

Lovely September Break

We had a great September stay at this site in our motorhome. Easy walk over the downs to the beach, with miles of lovely clean sand when the tide is out. The site is a bit exposed and we decided to come away two days early, before a severe storm headed in. We will certainly stay here again.

Lovely Site Shame About Pitch Availability

we've visited this site a number of times now usually in September and love it. This year we decided to visit in October and whilst we still love the site and its location were slightly disappointed to see around two thirds of the pitches out of action. The wardens had decided to close the two top cul de sacs and remove pegs from a large number of pitches around the site in order to reseed them. We found this rather unfair as we pay the same membership fee as everyone else but because we chose to visit outside the peak time we are penalised as to the pitches we can take. Some of them had the marker moved forward which meant that if we had gone on one of those our outfit would have been on the road. Others had grass seed sown which was being eaten by pigeons!!. Surely this could be done once the site closes. On top of this 3 of the 8 toilets and 3 of the 7 washing cubicles in the ladies were also locked. To cap it all one of the female wardens was moaning that they had six outfits coming in on one day!!. I know it is out of season but come on caravan club treat us all in the same way or else reduce membership for those who only use sites out of the high season.

Fantastic site.

I remember when going on holiday in the caravan was an exciting time with the whole family looking forward to time spent together and by the sea. Now it's just the two of us but we still love our time away and this super site fits the bill. Location by the sea and the site kept well by friendly hard working wardens. Don't get caught up with inspecting the facilities which are perfectly adequate and clean. This is a site where you really can enjoy time away in your van.

Great September break

We just wanted a few days away in September at a Cornwall site that offered great walks direct from the site. We really enjoyed our visit and the fabulous miles of sandy beach when the tide was out! Although we booked for a week, we came home 2 days early because of the severe storm warning for the area (the site is a bit exposed to the South Westerley gales). We will certainly return to this lovely site again.

Fantastic Wardens with the patience of saints

We returned during the school holidays after a few years away. The location is superb and we enjoyed daily walks through the dunes and plenty of time on the beach, making use of the NT car park at Godrevy Head. The wardens do a fantastic job in very challenging circumstances. Yes the facilities are dated compared to some other sites but still perfectly adequate. The wardens did a magnificent job cleaning the toilet block etc every day - what a pity that site visitors were unable to leave the facitlities clean after using them. Are their bathrooms at home left in such a state? As for the dog waste........!!There were signs asking people to deposit waste in the bins by the back gate rather than leaving waste/poo bags around the site - one would hope that Club dog owners were mindful of others but obviously not. Similarly, recycling - the wardens had put up innumerable signs explaining the system, but we still saw people putting general waste in the recycling skips and then the wardens had to retrieve it. Come on Club members, we are very lucky to have a site in such a wonderful location, let's do our bit to look after it. Thank you to the Warden Team for your friendly welcome & your hard work.

Crowded in August

Had visited this pleasant, all grass pitch site, some years ago outside the peak period. However, this visit was in August and the site was very full and as a result choice of pitches was restricted. The site is well located for a beach holiday near the Gwithian Towans beach and is within reach of other interesting locations in Cornwall. As there is no car park on the site any extra car has to be accommodated on the pitch which is restrictive when the site is full. The toilet block is adequate but does need refurbishment. The external shower is a bonus for cleaning wet suits but could be better located. The external sink for cleaning barbecues was appreciated and should be adopted by other club sites. This site, due to its location near a surfing beach where dogs are allowed, attracts more than its fair share of dogs. We would visit this site again but not in August.

TIME TO INVEST

This is our 3rd time here in 4 years and absolutely love the site and it's location. Booked for 17 nights and even though the weather in Gwythian was quite awful compared to other parts of the country we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it... The 4staff are exceptional at everything they do and are a credit to CAMC.........BUT!!!!!!! The walking of dogs around the site and dumping there mess everywhere MUST STOP! It is hygiene unfriendly and members MUST use the lane at the back of the site. The club MUST spend money on upgrading the shower and toilet facilities as a matter of urgency as that is also so outdated when you look at other sites. Paying almost £500 to stay here you should not have to keep showering in your own unit all the time... Having booked already for 2019 we hope that some renovations have been done by then
