Wonderful Little Site

We spent 10 very enjoyable nights here on this most peaceful of sites. the site is beautifully kept by the wardens, Martin and Ann, who  were also very friendly and instantly made us feel at home. the location is very quiet and relaxing and is ideally suited to cycling, walking and dog owners. A great place also to just relax and unwind, but perhaps not ideal for families because there is little for children nearby, except of course the beach ! weather permitting of course ! the harbour side pitches offer good views of the bay and the walled garden side is almost like a CL, but with all the usual high standard facilities. But, all in all, a terrific club site and one not to be missed. you won't find friendly wardens anywhere

perfect

Happy This was our first trip to Scotland and visited this site on advice from some friends. What a wonderful site. Anne and Martin are wonderful wardens. On arrival we were advised of some building work starting on the bridge on site, and as we pitched near the bridge, they made sure that we were not disturbed by the workmen. The workmen were also considerate and we hardly noticed them to be honest. The facilities were very clean and the site very well kept. The local pub is a haven, and the locals made us feel very welcome. The meal we had was also wonderful. The pub also does breakfast and has a tea room but we did not try this. There are plenty of walks in the area. I have placed a lower rating for families as if children want arcades and computers this would not be suitable. If they like exploring and going on the beach then this will be fine. We will certainly return.

Fantastic !

Five nights in June. Fantastic location on the coast. Well kept pitches and surroundings, spotless shower/ toilet blocks, a real credit to the friendly warden couple Martin and Anne. Our first visit to a club site - we fear we may have been spoiled forever!

A great place to unwind

Just back from a 9 day break and would recommend this Club site to those who are looking for a relaxing break in an environment that makes this very easy to chill out. This is also a very dog friendly location with many walks along the coast on your doorstep. The site has everything we could ask for & the wardens work very hard to make you feel at home & accommodate any special requirements you may have. The village of Garlieston is in a beautiful location and its inhabitants make you feel very welcome. The site office stocks the basics you may require including local ice cream, which is to die for! The Harbour Inn & Cafe serve good quality meals and the local Post Office/Shop provides an ideal source for day to day provisions. We have booked an other 9 day break at the end of August.

Away from it

Arrived in the rain after battling roadworks with no diversion! therefore totally exhausted. The site soon worked its magic, peaceful, restful and friendly, this was our first visit but it will certainly not be our last. The small community and the local pub made us very welcome and although we didn't eat there this visit we certainly will next time. If you need a relaxing break this is the place to visit, highly recommended.

Great

What a lovely site ! Very warm welcome from the warden, and told to pick a pitch. Facilities very clean, and the whole site is immaculate. Lots of lovely walks, local pub had just changed hands and although we didn't eat there, we had a drink and its dog friendly with a warm welcome.

Peace perfect peace

A great site for peace tranquility. The site is well maintained and facilities are kept immaculate. The entrances to both halves of the site are decorated with small gardens which are kept up together by Ann (she weeded twice in our in our ten days) The local beach is just across the road from the walled garden site and is dog friendly. Plenty of poo bins!!!! The walk around to Rigg Bay is a bird song paradise. The roads are very quiet but in places a little rough for caravans. Do not bother to drive to Garvin on the A714 as it is the worst road surface we have ever been on. Take the long route along the A75 and then the A77. The local pub has a terrific reputation but I think is about to change hands. The Bladnoch Inn is a few miles North of Garlieston and is well worth a few visits. The Sunday carvery has to be experienced there were 9 vegetables, 3 types of potato, four types of meat and wonderful yorkshires.

beautiful

this is going down as one of our best holidays yet! on arriving at site we were met by lovely helpfull, welcoming staff, we were given a choice of which pitch we preffered. the facilities on site were extremely clean and looked after daily. everyone on the site were friendly and helpful - it was just an amazing place to stay! never been anywhere which is as relaxing as this. the walks around the site were picturesque and easy going and the beach was on the doorstep which was also dog friendly. the pub in the village has great food, resonably priced too and welcomed dogs, some great characters in there :-) overall if i was going to give marks out of 10, it would be 10. thanks

Away from it all - but not too far away!

Our second time staying here and like it very much. Relaxed atmosphere and pleasant staff - not too many instructional notices!  Lovely scenery north or south from here.  Wigtown is wonderful if you like books and cafes and a little way off is Castle Kennedy gardens. Last time here we visited Kirkudbright, this time we went to Gatehouse of Fleet. Both places have interesting gardens.

Nice site, shame about the 'Royston Vasey' impression!

We booked this site to try out our brand spanking new motorhome air awning. I was surprised not to get an audience! The site staff were very friendly and helpful, as stated previously, the site itself is unusual in that it straddles a minor road. We were in the 'walled garden' part and thought it very peaceful. The bus stop was on the doorstep and buses ran at convenient times. The only negative was the local post office where I couldn't get a newspaper or semi skimmed milk. It seemed it was all spoken for! Ah well. Didn't try the local pub but will do when we visit again.
