Great site in a quiet location right on the sea and edge of the village with a great lively pub n walking distance- you can see it from the site. Coastal walks from the site. Otherwise a short drive to a number of other Dumfries & Galloway attractions. The weekly fish n chip van owners have just retired so let’s hope they can find someone else to take it on. We would stay again.
Glorious Garlieston
Stayed a couple of nights on our tour around the West coast. Great location to be able to pitch overlooking harbour. Wardens very helpful and friendly. Walked along coast path along seafront around bay. Walked to gardens at Galloway House but went via road as coastal path too muddy.

Peaceful return visit
We go to Garlieston at least twice a year, always a friendly and helpful welcome from the wardens.
We have stayed both on the harbour side and in the walled garden, both very different but equally beautiful.
Facilities although the older style are always extremely clean.
Used the laundry facilities this time as we had been away quite a while and these were also great.
Harbour Inn very friendly and food great, you’d be well advised to book.
Garage up the road has a simple shop for basics.
The Hive is also a very nice little eatery.
Plenty of walking within the local vicinity.
One of our favourite sites on the network.
Great location for peaceful stay
Had a friendly reception from wardens and enjoyed a superb location on sea front. Good meal at local pub located close by. Walked path close to shoreline to Galloway House gardens, muddy after recentwet weather but we had glorious sunshine for our weekend stay. Thoroughly relaxing weekend!
Loved it!
Lovely site right on the seawall within a short walk to the Harbour Inn & Hive cafe, both providing excellent food. Visited mid August - friendly staff, we were able to change our pitch for a better view of the sea. Interesting history regarding the Mulberry Harbours and D-Day. Accessible walks along the coast and reasonable cycle rides to the Isle Of Whithorn and Whithorn itself.
back again!
visited in April and loved it so much came back again in July. wonderful site and the wardens are just brilliant. full of local knowledge and always got time for you. the site is very well kept and the facilities are spotless. the area is very peaceful and full of walks and countryside and beaches. cannot recommended this site high enough and will be back again and again.
keep up the good work Linda and Edgar it is very much appreciated!

A lovely site in a beautiful location
We had booked a non-awning pitch and were able to choose a pitch on the seawall which had stunning views across the bay. When we visited the Relief Site Managers were on site and they were very helpful (sorry, I can't remember their names!). The facilities were all spotlessly clean and pitches were spacious and well maintained.
The Mulberry Harbour Exhibition adjacent to the site is worth a visit, especially as we stayed there a few days before the D-Day anniversary. The Harbour Inn is great for a drink and The Hive cafe sell lovely cakes.
A lovely site and highly recommended.

A little Gem
Very reluctant to leave the glowing review I want to leave as it will mean I have less chance of being able to book a pitch next time.
However Judith and Edgar are amazing wardens and nothing is too much trouble, from initially changing my booking then extending it they were so helpful.
Garlieston site is split into 2 sections and we were fortunate to have a pitch on the harbour side directly overlooking the bay - amazing.
The facilities though dated are immaculately clean and well maintained, endless hot water with great pressure.
We visited the Harbour Inn for a birthday meal and were certainly not disappointed, in fact we returned for Sunday carvery.
We also enjoyed a coffee and ice cream at The Hive cafe.
Whilst in the area on advice from a member we visited The Mull of Galloway lighthouse, which you can climb - 115 steps - and amazing 360 deg views. There is also a cafe which serves lovely homemade food. The journey takes you along the coast and past New England Bay campsite (well worth the look).
All in all an amazing place to visit and we will return, thank you.
Very friendly welcome
We stopped here primarily so that I could visit Wigtown. A joy. The bus stops just outside the site and we were able to leave the MH behind for the morning. There was also a really interesting exhibition about the Mulberry Landings in the village hall.
The site is quite cramped but in a lovely location overlooking the bay and we enjoyed a lovely walk along the coastal path to a garden at Galloway House and back.
Judith, the Manager was particularly warm and friendly.

Great Site
Lucky enough to get a pitch directly overlooking the harbour and bay - magnificent in every way. Toilet blocks are dated but they are very clean and the showers have fantastic pressure.
Garlieston itself has the Harbour Pub which served a reasonable pint of Real ale and the food was fine without being spectacular. The Hive Cafe is fantastic with great coffee and lovely cheese scones. There are some very easy walks direct from the site.
The small town of Wigtown has an annnual book festival and therefore has some fantastic and quirky book shops and although not really golfers but when in Scotland you have to play so we took the clubs and found St Medans Golf Club stunning and immaculate. Wonderful coastal views from every part of the course, hardly anybody playing on a Thursday meaning we can hack around to our hearst content. Great value at £25 a round for over 4 hours entetainment !
All in all a great 4 nights with good weather an added bonus.
