Fantastic location right next to the sea, site split into two by a service road to the small fishing harbour. Site badly needs refurbishment to the facilities blocks and would benefit from a reduction in pitches to give more space, some are very cramped. Good TV signal and WiFi reasonable. Nice Pub within two minutes walk and plenty to do in the area with some wonderful walks.

Our third visit

We stayed at this site from 19/3/22 for 7 nights, sited in the walled garden area which we prefer. It was a great stay as usual. Everything clean and nice and well cared for by the friendly wardens. We were blessed with a week of sunshine. The site is great for walks out around the bay, in both directions, walking shoes/boots needed for some of the paths at this time of year. We are interested in the history of Garlieston and it’s connection with trialling the mulberry harbour. Having already walked to Rigg Bay a few times we also walked around towards Eggleston point to see the remains that are situated there on the rocky beach. We travelled out to Port Logan, Portpatrick, and Wigtown which are all worth visiting. This site is a gem of tranquility in a small village, with great beaches on the doorstep, maybe not too well suited for children as there isn’t a play area but if they love the outdoors then this is the place. Great for dog walking too. We’ll e back again,

1st Visit to this site

We stayed here from 11th to 20th March. Wonderful site with great views, peace and quiet. We moved to the walled side of the site and had a lovely sunny pitch(when the sun eventually came out!). The wardens were very friendly and helpful with their knowledge of the local area. There are plenty of places to visit and lovely walks from the site. All of the facilities were spotlessly clean as you'd expect. The biggest disappointment yet again is the amount of members that don't seem to be able to keep their cars in1st gear and stick to the speed limit, this is not hard to do as the majority of us do manage it how is it so hard to do? Or is it just a blatant disregard of the rules?! We loved this site and hope to visit again in the not so distant future, as many more places we'd like to visit. Keep up the good work.

Hello to new wardens

We have been visiting this site for many years and stayed from 18th to 21st March. We met the new new wardens Edgar and Judith who are lovely, very helpful and keeping the site up to its usual high standard. Hopefully the extra hard standing which should have been carried out over the winter will be completed this winter. I also live in hope that the club will update the toilet facilities (although spotless, due to the hard work of previous and current wardens) which I have been asking for in my reviews for a while. As always we had a great visit and will continue to return.

Peace and quiet

This is a great place to relax and unwind. Good for easy walks, wild swimming, sea kayaking. We met all the staff, a friendly team, warm welcome and useful local knowledge. They were all very helpful. Nice local pub and a tasty treat from the fish and chip van, Wednesdays. We will be back.

A new favourite

We stayed here a couple of times this year. When we approached the site on the first visit, I very nearly turned round as it looked so open and bleak. I'm pleased we didn't as the site quickly became a favourite. I'm not usually keen on being allocated a pitch when I arrive to a site but on both visits I was very happy with my allocated pitch and so felt okay about it. I guess it would be different if the allocated pitch wasn't to our liking and we could see others that we might prefer. The wardens, both regular and covering were fantastic. Helpful and welcoming. The facilities are clean and well manintained, nothing different to the standards of a club site. There are great opportunities for beach walks and also further along the coast path in both directions. Lots of birds to see as well as deer in the woods further along the paths. The fish and chip van that visits outside the site (Friday night) is excellent. I support the idea that this site doesn't run a little shop at reception as the village has lost shops and services over the last few years and it needs all the business it can get. However, the little shop at the garage stocks very little and is a bit of a trek on foot. I did wonder whether an arrangement could be made whereby certain items could be sold by the garage shop, in the site reception. This would mean the garage shop retained the income and the convenience of being able to pick up bits and bobs from the site reception might well increase the shops business. A local collaboration that may work for everyone.

Disappointed club administration did not respond to my last review (24th August 2021) regarding upgrading toilet facilities

Just returned today from our third trip to Garlieston this year and as always the site was was in excellent condition and facilities spotless thanks to Anne and Martin, the hard working wardens. We have visited this site for many years and simply love it. When I reviewed this site In August I challenged the club administration to get in contact with me regarding updating of toilet facilities. Sadly the club has not responded to this challenge which I find very rude and now wonder if they bother to read reviews. The toilet block have curtains instead of doors in the privacy cubicles and in 2021 I find this is no longer acceptable. Updating facilities is something only the club can do. So come on club I am waiting for a response!! I wish Anne and Martin a long happy and healthy retirement. We will miss you and you will certainly be a hard act to follow. Alex and Shona Brownlie
