Time to chill out

This is the perfect place to get away from the rat race and unwind. It's almost like going back in time with the quiet, slow pace of life and the lack of traffic. The site is immaculate, thanks to the WONDERFUL, hard working wardens. There are plenty of walks and cycle routes to try from the site or you can just  sit on a deck chair and watch the tide ebb and flow. Thank you for another great holiday. We'll definitely be back to Garlieston again.

Great little site

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Garlieston. The site is so well set out with excellent, clean toilet block facilities. The site managers were welcoming and helpful which was great because we are new to this. The area is wonderful with lovely coastal walks in both directions. Thanks to all.

Great holiday!

Martin and Ann gave us a very friendly welcome. Lovely ground and views, all the facilities were emmaculate. It was a very tranquil location, we really enjoyed our stay, it's a pitty your so far away. But we would love to re-visit this wonderful campsite.Laughing

Excellent

If you want peace and tranquillity, this is the site to go to. Overlooking the sea with wonderful scenery and many walks to get to from the site. It is however approx. 30 - 45 minutes away from the Galloway forest with many fantastic walks which are well designed and easy to navigate. No need to carry cash for parking at the sites because they accept bank cards which is good if you haven’t the precise change. Parking fees for the whole day is £3.00 which I thought was reasonable (although you can find free car parks but you might have to driver further to get to them). One point of caution is for dog owners who plan on visiting the Glentool visitor centre. The 6 mile circular walk around Loch Tool is undeniably lovely, but there are some parts of the path that are really jagged rocks and even my super fit border collie struggled to walk on them. The guide says that the path is “mainly wide stony path” but that didn’t do it justice at all and had I known beforehand how rough the rocks were, I probably would have chosen to go elsewhere. Anyone staying at this site could also not ignore how fantastic the wardens were. Nothing was too much trouble for Ann and Martin and they were the best I have come across over the many sites I have visited. During my stay I had a problem with my TV and its ariel and was also poorly. Both were so helpful and their kindness, hard-work and easy-going nature was a credit to the caravan club. This is a site where because of them you can genuinely relax and not feel like you’re being constantly watched for some minor infringement of the rules (unlike so many others on the network).

Wonderful Little Site

We spent 10 very enjoyable nights here on this most peaceful of sites. the site is beautifully kept by the wardens, Martin and Ann, who  were also very friendly and instantly made us feel at home. the location is very quiet and relaxing and is ideally suited to cycling, walking and dog owners. A great place also to just relax and unwind, but perhaps not ideal for families because there is little for children nearby, except of course the beach ! weather permitting of course ! the harbour side pitches offer good views of the bay and the walled garden side is almost like a CL, but with all the usual high standard facilities. But, all in all, a terrific club site and one not to be missed. you won't find friendly wardens anywhere

Happy This was our first trip to Scotland and visited this site on advice from some friends. What a wonderful site. Anne and Martin are wonderful wardens. On arrival we were advised of some building work starting on the bridge on site, and as we pitched near the bridge, they made sure that we were not disturbed by the workmen. The workmen were also considerate and we hardly noticed them to be honest. The facilities were very clean and the site very well kept. The local pub is a haven, and the locals made us feel very welcome. The meal we had was also wonderful. The pub also does breakfast and has a tea room but we did not try this. There are plenty of walks in the area. I have placed a lower rating for families as if children want arcades and computers this would not be suitable. If they like exploring and going on the beach then this will be fine. We will certainly return.

Fantastic !

Five nights in June. Fantastic location on the coast. Well kept pitches and surroundings, spotless shower/ toilet blocks, a real credit to the friendly warden couple Martin and Anne. Our first visit to a club site - we fear we may have been spoiled forever!

A great place to unwind

Just back from a 9 day break and would recommend this Club site to those who are looking for a relaxing break in an environment that makes this very easy to chill out. This is also a very dog friendly location with many walks along the coast on your doorstep. The site has everything we could ask for & the wardens work very hard to make you feel at home & accommodate any special requirements you may have. The village of Garlieston is in a beautiful location and its inhabitants make you feel very welcome. The site office stocks the basics you may require including local ice cream, which is to die for! The Harbour Inn & Cafe serve good quality meals and the local Post Office/Shop provides an ideal source for day to day provisions. We have booked an other 9 day break at the end of August.

Away from it

Arrived in the rain after battling roadworks with no diversion! therefore totally exhausted. The site soon worked its magic, peaceful, restful and friendly, this was our first visit but it will certainly not be our last. The small community and the local pub made us very welcome and although we didn't eat there this visit we certainly will next time. If you need a relaxing break this is the place to visit, highly recommended.
