Stayed 5th & 6th August, met with fantastic display of flowers at reception and throughout the site, a great and informative welcome from the warden, gave us a great pitch for our motorhome at the harbour wall. Washroom & facilities are immaculate and really well located for the site overall. Great walks out of the site either into the village or out to the harbour and beach beyond only minutes away. Recommend the local Inn ,under new ownership for fantastic food and warm welcome. A lovely little site in a lovely part of Dumfries & Galloway.
Lovely site
stayed at the site 7th august for two nights, lovely campsite, wardens very nice, there display of flowers at reception was lovely. Nice quiet site, a good site for couples, we will be back again
Garlieston so good !
Garlieston, Garlieston so good I write it twice !
(With apologies to the New York New York song)
Have been coming for many years but never twice in quick succession, why well the site and surrounding villages are just as welcoming as ever, the difference is how beautifully the site is kept, supervised by Ann of course.
Seriously, good Wardens make a great difference to any site but Martin and Ann, sorry Ann and Martin really pull out all the stops to make you very welcome, nothing is too much trouble as I have found out personally.
A lovely site made even more lovely by the Wardens.
Do come and sample the site and its hospitality as well as enjoying all that is local.
If this review is a little gushing honestly they did not pay me to write the review !! Indeed I should be playing it down to make sure it's never too full for me to get a pitch.

Time to chill out
This is the perfect place to get away from the rat race and unwind. It's almost like going back in time with the quiet, slow pace of life and the lack of traffic. The site is immaculate, thanks to the WONDERFUL, hard working wardens. There are plenty of walks and cycle routes to try from the site or you can just sit on a deck chair and watch the tide ebb and flow. Thank you for another great holiday. We'll definitely be back to Garlieston again.

Relaxing Break
Weekend breakaway at Garlieston, wonderful peaceful site in the Harbour. Great Walks , Nice friendly local Pub, immaculate well maintained club site.
Great little site
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Garlieston. The site is so well set out with excellent, clean toilet block facilities. The site managers were welcoming and helpful which was great because we are new to this. The area is wonderful with lovely coastal walks in both directions. Thanks to all.
Great holiday!
Martin and Ann gave us a very friendly welcome. Lovely ground and views, all the facilities were emmaculate. It was a very tranquil location, we really enjoyed our stay, it's a pitty your so far away. But we would love to re-visit this wonderful campsite.

Excellent
If you want peace and tranquillity, this is the site to go to. Overlooking the sea with wonderful scenery and many walks to get to from the site. It is however approx. 30 - 45 minutes away from the Galloway forest with many fantastic walks which are well designed and easy to navigate. No need to carry cash for parking at the sites because they accept bank cards which is good if you haven’t the precise change. Parking fees for the whole day is £3.00 which I thought was reasonable (although you can find free car parks but you might have to driver further to get to them). One point of caution is for dog owners who plan on visiting the Glentool visitor centre. The 6 mile circular walk around Loch Tool is undeniably lovely, but there are some parts of the path that are really jagged rocks and even my super fit border collie struggled to walk on them. The guide says that the path is “mainly wide stony path” but that didn’t do it justice at all and had I known beforehand how rough the rocks were, I probably would have chosen to go elsewhere.
Anyone staying at this site could also not ignore how fantastic the wardens were. Nothing was too much trouble for Ann and Martin and they were the best I have come across over the many sites I have visited. During my stay I had a problem with my TV and its ariel and was also poorly. Both were so helpful and their kindness, hard-work and easy-going nature was a credit to the caravan club. This is a site where because of them you can genuinely relax and not feel like you’re being constantly watched for some minor infringement of the rules (unlike so many others on the network).
