Perfect location here by the harbour. Wake up to beautiful views and peace and quiet every morning. The lady running this site is so friendly and helpful, the facilities are spotless and well looked after. Lovely strong showers, great walks around. Ate out in a variety of places in the area, our favourites were the tea room at the Isle of whithorn and the bay view at Wigtown. Will stay for longer next time, but will definitely be back. Great place!
We're going back!
What a jewel in the crown of the Caravan Club. We've been members for nearly 30 years and had missed out on this site and area. Such a peaceful, tranquil site and area with lovely walks, fishing harbour and village facilities just outside of the site entrance. We were made to feel really welcome by the wardens and local residents - including the pub landlord who serves good food and an excellent pint (AND as he is Irish a pint of Guinness is every bit as good as over in Ireland). I'm missing the place already; we'll certainly be back ??
Great site to stay at
What a wonderful site to stay at, so peaceful and relaxing. Site is kept in tip top condition and the staff are very helpful which makes your stay all that better. Plenty info on where to go and see/do etc. Nearby pub does excellent food and breakfast bar next door if you cannot be bothered cooking. Beautiful harbour area plenty walks in surrounding area. May not be suitable for some younger generation unless they like walking and a bit of fishing.
Peaceful and attractive - recommended.
We stayed at this site in late August. It comes to you well recommended. The spot is fairly remote, peaceful and attractive. The staff are polite and helpful, and will go that extra mile to make you comfortable with your pitch and the facilities. The staff also sell small amounts of groceries etc in the office, however there is a post office walking distance away that also doubles as a general dealers if you need anything. The on-site facilities are clean and well maintained, so no need to worry on that front. There is a lovely walk you can take along the coast, after passing through a few gates – the staff can show you how to go if you want. The site is "dog friendly". We are not dog people, but the ones on site made no real noise, so we were not bothered by barking or anything like that.
Out and about. The local pub, “The Harbour” is also well recommended. A short 5 minute walk away it decorated with a traditional interior and serves good food, reasonably priced, with a range of local ales. Wigtown is close enough for driving to for a pit stop at the Co-op and there is a Saturday market, as well as many bookshops.
All in all we had a great break, and would stay again.

A real gem.
I spent 5 days here kayaking around the region. The site was immaculate and the staff were very helpful. The site is 50 meters from the harbour slipway so really easy to get on the water with the kayaks. The village has one bar and restaurant which is excellent and good value for money. The dog walks along the shore are scenic and good under foot. All in all a perfect location whether you want a quiet relaxing break or if you want to experience the great outdoors.
Peaceful site
We stayed here for one night and it is a lovely quiet site. It is very good for walks and cycling. It has a well stocked Post Office that sells everything and he has a good selection of wine. Nice little pub on the corner which serves home cooked food. We had a nice welcome of the warden and the facilities are kept very clean. We will be coming back.
When the tide goes out!
We were glad to have booked in advance as the site was very busy. Great facilities and welcoming wardens. We had a sea view site which provided a good scene whilst having supper. However, next morning the tide had gone out and the sea was gone, sand and mud replaced the view! Well worth a visit, both parts of the site provide good pitches. Although this appears to be a holiday village with many holiday homes, the village facilities, shops etc are very very limited so stock up before hand.
Peaceful beauty
This was our second visit to this site after returning this time from Northern Ireland. After being on the road for three weeks this is a lovely site to spend three nights doing nothing but enjoy the views , the local coast for walking with our dogs and the local hostelry for food and medicinal tinctures. Around and about there are plenty of other places to go. Remember though if you want a beautiful view go for a pitch without awning, if you want a sheltered pitch go for a with awning pitch. Id pick the view any day.
Great site to visit
Very quiet, peaceful location. Nice pub just a few steps from the site with great food and nice people (Harbour Inn). Lovely area with nice views, would def go back again. The wardens were very helpful and friendly too.
Super Site
We nearly bypassed Garlieston but so pleased we didn't. It is a lovely site in a beautiful area. The wardens and locals were very friendly and helpful.
There are some lovely places to visit both on foot and by car. By bike too - but we didn't!
We will certainly be going back soon.
We combined our trip with a visit to the New England Bay site - which we also highly recommend.
