Scotland at last

This was our first night of our tour of Scotland, we stayed for two nights on pitch 5 right beside the sea wall, the previous reviews are spot on, this is a great place to spend a few days or longer, the wardens were very nice and the site is indeed a credit to them, not much in the local area for families though, but that didn't bother us, but we will be back in the spring.

Lovely site!

We have just been to stay on this site last weekend for the first time and it was gorgeous!! Very small, very peaceful. Local pub (Harbour Inn) was cosy, logs burning on an open fire, delicious meals, very friendly locals, and the pub is dog friendly. We will definitely be back!!

Fantastic little site

Lovely quiet location, we visited for a few nights enroute from Gretna on our honeymoon through southern Scotland. The site is a real hidden gem and the pitches are well kept and pristine.  We stayed on pitch 31 which was hard standing with a nice view of the sea and hills in the distance.  We woke the next morning to find a hand written board at the edge of our pitch congratulating us on our wedding, this was a really nice personal touch. There are several nice walks close by, we tried the one turning left from the site and follows the coastal footpath and eventually came to Galloway house estate which has nice gardens and then back to the village or Garlieston.  The second day we turned right and followed the road around the bay and then onto the headland opposite which was ok. We took time out to walk across the beach, well worth a stroll. The locals that we met were also very friendly. The wardens Anne and Martin were really fantastic and run a really nice clean site, they were both very helpful and advised us to try the local Harbour Inn, and we were not disappointed the food was great and reasonable value for money, it's advisable to book a table as its very popular.  If your looking for a lovely quiet site then this is place to consider, we will definitely recommend and will revisit again.

Good location, a little gem

Stayed at this site for three nights returning on 18th October 2015. Our first visit as we usually go higher up the West Coast but we were not disappointed. Location great with only a short drive to Galloway Forest Park which has great walks which we and our dog enjoyed as well as the walks along the beach and through the woodland. The wardens were friendly and site facilities as always very good. The Harbour Inn, a short walk from the site is welcoming with a log fire and good food. Will be returning to this little gem in 2016.

Lovely Site

A well kept and clean site, staff very helpful and accomodating, the local pub is small, but does lovely meals. If you are looking for a quiet break, Garlieston is the place to go to.

What a Treasure

Even though the Upper Solway Coast is an endless treck, reaching this gem of a site was well worth it. The Warden & his wife were brilliant and very proud of it. The local Pub had good food & real ale. The scenery is beautiful & relaxing with good walks and places of interest not too far away.

Peaceful, quiet, relaxing and friendly.

Floral greeting at the gate and office set the tone for the weekend. Wardens very pleasant and friendly, site and facilities extremely clean and tidy. Very peaceful and quiet. The local pub The Harbour Inn was excellent for food and drink. This was our first time at this site but definitely will be back more times in the future.

Beautiful tranquil Garlieston

Stayed here Sept 15, Lovely welcome off warden, very informative & said call in anytime if you require any more help or Info.  Set in 2 sections 1 section in a walled garden 2nd Section by water's edge, beautiful flower display around entrance, and the usual CC Standards for grounds and toilets. Plenty of walking from this site so good for dogs & cyclists, lovely walking in the grounds of Galloway House. The beach ( Shingle & sand) is also good for exercing the dogs.  Beautiful tranquil old fishing village and villagers most pleasant,  we did not visit any local pubs so cant comment there.  Not too good for Children unless they enjoy fishing, cycling & Walking.  But definately a beautiful, relaxing site & we will definately return, and hopefully not in the too distant future.Happy

Superb site & good wardens

A beautiful floral display greets you at the entrance to this well looked after site which is matched by the welcome from the wardens. The welcome was genuine and was the most informatitive and helpful introduction to the site and area ever received from any club sites we have visited in the past. We fully recommend this site will definitely return in the future.

Ozone by the bucketfull

Having returned to caravanning after some 28 years we are still amazed at the value the Club sites give. Garlieston is one of those sites that can draw you back time after time. The wardens were on the ball, had tons of local information and knew all there was to know about the area. We decided to stay an extra night as we enjoyed it so much. Excellent.
