great views

We were lucky to get a pitch with a great view and even luckier to get 3 sunny day's . Very impressed with the site and the wardens were very friendly and approachable. Have to recommend the fish and chip van that visits on a friday evening , best we've had in years. This was our first venture into Scotland and we enjoyed every minute , there is a lovely walk out from the site through Rigg Bay and around to the remains of an old castle the scent from the wild garlic en route was amazing. Drove around the bay to Logan botanical gardens which were stunning .

Brilliant site 5/5

Just finished a lovely four day break here and can't say enough good things about the site and wardens. The site is split into two sections, one within the walled section and the other overlooking the sea. We did a few beautiful walks directly from the site to near the gorgeous Rigg Bay, taking a detour through Galloway Gardens. Both wardens were helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area and amenities. Facilities on site were clean and well presented - only thing that'd be good addition would be adding a dog shower for muddy paws! Thank you for a great visit, this is one of the best sites we've stayed on.

Peace and quiet

We shook, rocked and rolled on the poor roads from Carlisle and in local area/South Ayrshire. We opined that the wardens gave priority to an hour later arriving motorhome as it was pitched on the Dock side which had not been offered to us. We didn't find the wardens friendly - the locals are - but they wardens do a great job looking after the immaculate site, including the Information Room. They sell gas spanners - something I've been intending buying for years and never got round to it. Garlieston is a quiet village although the Harbour Inn is lively enough; good food, ale and service included. We went to Stranraer for shopping [good supermarkets] rather than Newton Stewart. On a sunny day, the coast road around to Stranraer and up towards Girvan takes some beating. Local walks are excellent with a wide variety of birds to see [the site side is best for waders, the far side is better for woodland birds with some waders]. For peace and quiet, this must be one of the best CMC sites.

Great for a family.

We stayed early may bank holiday at this lovely site, with our 3 year old and spaniel. It’s a small but picturesque site. The views across the bay are amazing. There is a lovely circular walk from the site that takes you along the coast then through gardens back to the pub. Which is close to the site entrance. My little girl spent ages on the beaches and loved hunting for the fairy doors that have been hidden in the woodland on the walk. There isn’t a playground on the site but there are two very close by. One near the shower block for preschoolers and a large playground near the houses at the back of the pub. Ann, one of the wardens, who booked us in was very helpful. We were give a key for the disabled bathroom so we could use it as a family shower. The showers were really good and the site itself is immaculate. We would definitely recommend it and will be returning when we next visit this lovely part of Scotland.

Garlieston Caravan Club Site

Just back after spending 4 nights, Site and toilets facilities are spotless, site is quite and very peaceful right up our street, Wardens are very friendly and so helpful, I had a problem with my electric hook up on my caravan, the Warden who's name escapes me checked all my fuses both in car and caravan even made us a cup of tea, this was service over and beyond the call of duty - thank you both for all your help. We will definitely be back.

Very pleasant, clean and quiet site.

This was our first visit to the site and we will definitely be returning. The site is extremely well kept and the facilities are very clean. The site owners were friendly and very helpful. Garlieston itself is quaint, quiet and a good base to explore the area. There is just the one pub which serves good food and is a 2 min walk from the site. There is also a small shop at the local garage selling essentials and a bit more besides.

Lovely Site

Our first visit to the area and this site. Garlieston is a beautiful village and the views from the pitches is stunning. The warden was most friendly and helpful and it was a treat to be able to buy fresh fish from the fish van. This is a very quiet, small, site and may not be suitable for families with young children. The local hotel/bar was very pleasant for a drink or 2 after dinner. It was very popular with people from the site for dinner, although we didn't eat there. We enjoyed 4 lovely days here and look forward to our next visit. Handy for the Wigtown Book Festival in September too. We will definitely be back!!
