Great site great wardens

Back to this lovely site again so pleased to see Martin and Ann are still here. the site already looks well manicured and the flowers in already. Another good meal at the Harbour Inn where the welcome is always warm too and great for the dog. We will be back again to see the summer flowers in full bloom. Thank you again Martin and Ann for your hard work

What a little gem

A perfect place to start our tour of Scotland, plenty of walking straight from site and seconds from the beach with fantastic views across the bay. Site is immaculately cared for through out and the powerful showers are amazing. Very warm welcome on arrival. The Harbour Inn is lovely warm welcoming pub, great for food and drink and dog friendly.

The last to leave!

Had a 5 night stay at our favourite site at Garlieston. As always the site and the facilities were kept immaculate by the hard working wardens Ann and Martin. We had a lovely meal at The Harbour Inn where the staff are always friendly. We didn't want to leave the site hence us being the last to leave on the day it closed. We received a friendly welcome (and goodbye) from Ann and Martin and are really pleased to know that they will be returning to Garlieston next year.

Autumn Heaven

Great to be back for our 3rd time. Anne and Martin kept the site as immaculate as ever. Enjoyable coastal walks and local gardens right on the doorstep. Friendly and hospitable local with well kept beer and good pub grub. Weekly visit from fish van, butcher and Aldi/Sainsburys in Newton Stewart for re-supply on the way in. Suits us down to the ground.

Garlieston

This was our first visit to Garlieston and cannot wait to return next year. Excellent site - Wardens were lovely and very helpful. This is one of the best sites we have stayed on. Toilet facilities were of a very high standard and showers were the best we have experienced. I have no hesitation on recommending this site.

Garlieston

It was our first time at Garlieston and we thought the site was lovely nice and peaceful with lovely sea views. The wardens were helpful and the site facilities were very good. We loved the peace and quiet and the slow pace of everything. The Pub down the road from the site served lovely meals at a reasonable price. I think it was a Friday when the fish and chip van came and it was very popular. The only down side was the lack of shops the only one was the local garage which is a good walk away and from where you could order your papers but very limited in the grocery side of things. The local buses run regular.

Great experience

Really enjoyed this site and the area in general. The site was, I would guess, 90% full, but still quiet, whilst we were there. Many pitches provide for a nice view over the harbour. The local pub was welcoming and friendly. Plenty of Walks in the near vicinity and beyond. The area in general is mainly rural with small towns and villages dotted about..There are imited local bus services, otherwise a car is necessary to get to most places. Enjoyed tge site and the area very much and would be happy to revisit at some point in the future.

Most unusual site

This was our second site in a three week trip. I have to say the road to reach the site was dreadful - like a cart track. But the welcome from the wardens was warm and friendly and we were recommended a pitch with extra grass for our dog and a good view over the harbour. We had a lovely stay. The weather was varied (but it is Scotland) but we did plenty of walking and visiting. There are two bays to visit and a certain amount of walking from the site. Take most of what you need with you. The local garage is the shop. It is very limited with what it offers. And the nearest supermarket is a bit of a drive .Wigtown is your nearest. They are no cash machines closer than Wigtown either - be warned. And very few places close to the site to eat. We went to the local inn - but were turned away as they were full. They were also full of loud and fairly drunken people too. I say no more. We found the local area very deprived indeed - quite shocking in many ways. We visited the arboretum next door to the site and, with everyone else, wondered at the faded decay of Garlieston House. It was when we were leaving that we had a disaster - caravan was clearly in difficulties and eventually it was clear we would have to be relayed home. The warden was brilliant. He made helpful suggestions, found a pitch for us to limp onto that the flatbed would be able to access the next morning and even told us that we could leave the van in their care to be collected if we needed too. Our lady warden (so sorry to have forgotten your name) was also lovely. She rang our following two sites, cancelled for us and made sure we didn't get a warning letter for late cancellation. Mayday were rubbish, the caravan took five days to be repatriated, we are still waiting for the part to be made so no caravan all summer. But the wardens were great and we had a good stay. And maybe we'll be back next year.
