Wish we'd been able to stay longer !

We booked in advance as a stop off point on our trip from Surrey to Kintyre. The site location whilst a little off the beaten track is simply beautiful and worth the diversion. Immaculately maintained and polite efficient welcome. We only stopped for one night but will certainly keep this in mind for future trips. There is a local shop about a mile walk (you need to order a paper the day before) and a nice wee pub with hearty food some local produce. It is a picture postcard site and the owners clearly care, with planters kerbs and other features well maintained adding to the ambiance. We would have stayed longer were we not scheduled elsewhere. A good service point for water and toilets. An interesting history about the town in notices spread around and a long beach great for early morning / late evening walks. A quiet spot and with good weather somewhere we would happily settle for 4 or 5 days at least. We have no beef about WiFi . . but that's perhaps a generational thing ! . . We loved the site.

peace and tranquility

Small site in a peaceful setting. Anne and Martin keep it immaculate washrooms very clean and tidy, hanging baskets and planted area's stunning. On arrival made to feel very welcome, information on local area walks, shop/garage/harbour inn opening times all printed out ready for us which was so helpful. I can't thank them enough for sorting my Wi Fi problem out. Would recommend this site, big thank you to both.

A place to relax and unwind.

Beautiful location. Totally unspoilt. The site is split into two areas. We stayed for 8 days in the walled garden area which was quieter and protected from any wind. The site is well maintained with beautiful flower arrangements. Anne and Martin work tirelessly and are very attentative and helpful to your needs. The information room covers everything including local walks. os maps are available to borrow. The shower blocks need upgrading but are kept clean to the highest standard. The Harbour Inn is a two minute walk offering a good standard of food. Dogs are made welcome. An excellent stay.

Very Good

Peaceful, picturesque location. Small site in a small village. Historically important. Only criticism is the Wifi service which, although priced the same as other club sites, was very poor quality with low bit rate (less than 1Mbps). I would offer one piece of advice. The reception gave us a note describing some local walks. Whilst handy, it could do with being a little more descriptive ("....go straight on at the bay..." where the bay was horseshoe shaped so straight on where?) and would benefit from a sketch map. But that is a minor point. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice and quiet but

Just had a week at this site, and was very lucky. The site is a little gem, and a nice size. The site has two parts. One enclosed with a wall and gate, the other is open, with wonderful views of the beach. if you are lucky you can have a pitch on the edge of the wall, with the water below. The washroom and showers were very warm ant tidy. Nice and quiet but. We did have two motor homes behind us, they must have thought that the site belonged to them. and not caring how much noise they made, Just as well we only had two more nights remaining. I recommend the harbour inn, for food and drinks, the service and food is wonderful, (although I suggest you book a table as it gets very full very quickly) The garage in the village has a small choice of goods should you runs short, I must point out however: the only sell diesel. There is another garage at Wigton, for Unleaded, and a small shop.I recommend this site for a very relaxing holiday.

Relax and enjoy

A little piece of heaven. Lovely camp site with excellent facilities. Martin and Anne are delighted to help _ we needed a little, as new to caravaning, but we could not have picked a better site to start our adventures. There are beautiful walks along the coast, that would suit most abilities, and a lovely old fashioned pub in the village.

Solo trip

I have just spent 5 days at Garlieston, this was my first solo trip without my husband who died in April although l have towed the caravan before l haven’t done it on own never mind setting up, but Ann and Martin have made this trip so easy for me they were both there, Martin was on hand to help me set up and to sort out any problems l may have had and Ann was there with support and checking l was ok. This has to be over and above their duties as wardens but l so appreciate what they have done we always liked there and l hope to continue visiting the site..

Stunning location

Stunning location and very peaceful. Site is kept immaculate. Wardens work hard. Facilities desperately need updating-only one washing machine and dryer, and shower cubicles in walled garden end up sharing water from next cubicle - insanitary!

Lovely Site

We stayed here in June 2019 in our motorhome and with one dog. The area is stunning and we found lots of places to walk our dog. The drive was also beautiful but rather a long way out - however well worth it! We were unlucky with the weather as it rained pretty much non-stop so we did not get to enjoy it as much as we would in the sunshine but The Harbour Inn is a short walk away and has a great menu.

Beautiful site. Great for a back to nature family break

We have just ended a week's stay here. The setting blew us away and we will be back. Yes, its quiet and peaceful. There isn't a supermarket for a few miles (aldi and sainsbury's in Newtown Stewart, ) but it's a stunning place. The local 'The Harbour Inn' is a fabulous pub and restaurant and we were warmly welcomed. Ann and Martin who run the caravan club site couldn't do more to help. There are lovely walks on offer. We also took a drive out to nearby Wigtown (Scotland's book town) during the spring fling and it was a lovely place to visit. Broughton house in kirkcudbright was also amazing. There's lots on offer if you're willing to drive out a little but honestly the beach, stunning harbour and local walks can keep you entertained too...my 11yrold and 8 year old had a ball. An unforgettable place...
