Wee bonnie.

Just returned from another lovely week at Garlieston. A week of relaxation. It's always a pleasure. The wardens Anne and Martin make the experience more enjoyable. If you need anything ,nothing is a bother to them. They go out of their way to help you. As always we'll be back.

Stunning, unspoiled surroundings on an immaculate site.

On arrival Ann gave us her extensive knowledge about the site and area and helped up to choose a really perfect pitch. This was our first visit to the site and she was so helpful and friendly, we immediately felt welcomed. Both pitching areas on the site are immaculate and the toilet/shower/washing blocks and facilities are pristine. We only spent one night at the site but it felt longer as we explored one of the wonderful unspoiled coastal paths. If you love walking along a breathtaking coastline, among wildflowers, woodlands and having the privilege of seeing wildlife and bird spotting this site is perfect. The roads are very quiet making it ideal to explore on bike as well as on foot. We loved our stay and watching the sunset on the harbour wall in the evening was a fabulous way to end the day. We will return to explore some more and would highly recommend this site for a truly peaceful, relaxing stay.

Sit back and relax

First site we visited on our tour of Scotland. What a gem, site split in two with a secluded side in a walled garden and the other open side with great views over the harbour area. Usual warm club wlecome on arrival and very well looked after by warden team. Will definately return for longer stay.

Place on our 'to return to list'.

Garlieston site is split by the road to the harbour. Both sides are lovely locations however the Reception building side is perhaps the nicest as some pitches are located directly on the sea wall. Great views at all times of the day and in all weathers. Suggest if it is going to be bad weather then the other side of the road is more protected (and further away in case of extremely high tides etc). Site facilities maintained to the usual good Club standard. External facilities are also good for a village location. The village is well kept and appears local residents/council have a pride in it. Public toilets at site entrance really very clean by today's standards. Village Hall has listed activities. The Harbour Inn is very welcoming with great meals at reasonable prices. Well worth visits. Fish and Chip van on Friday, great value. A butcher and fresh fish van also calls. The local garage (diesel only) has opened a shop within it's buildings with most essential items on sale. Support it if possible while visiting. Papers can be ordered from here. It's a nice walk to get to it. Bus service from the site entrance very useful for trips out if you are motor homers like us. Good cycle routes abound. An ideal site to place on a 'to go to' list.

Top notch site

One of the best sites we have stayed on. The staff were very friendly and offered some great ideas for walks and cycle rides. Very impressed with the shower block - very clean and hot and powerful showers. A few minute walk from the great local pub - Harbour Wall. Butcher and fish van deliver to the site. Milk, bread and papers can be ordered through reception and delivered to site. Also there is a fish and chip on Friday nights. There is so much to do in the area, walking, cycling (road and mountain biking), plenty of historic homes and quaint villages to explore. We loved it so much we have already book two more holidays here.

Best site to relax in

Now in my 80th year, I look forward to my twice yearly visit to Garlieston. The site is on what can only be described as a unique place. My first trip of the year is down to Garlieston, what we call our shakedown cruise, and my visit on the 23rd. to 28th. April this year went as expected, very relaxing, Anne and Martin the perfect Hosts, and the floral display as good as ever. The area is full of places to go and see, the new Gallery in Kirkcudbright is excellent, and the cafe is worth a visit alone. Any keen gardeners should take a trip to Threave, outside Castle Douglas, which is the gardener training site of the N.T.S. For dog walkers there is no better site, with a coastal walk starting at the site. Anne and Martin run a tight ship, and I have never had any cause to complain, the toilets are immaculate, and the site is always neat and tidy. The Harbour hotel Pub has some of the best food I've ever had, at reasonable prices, within easy 4 minute walk. As the advert for Brooklands race track said; the right crowd, and no crowding! A great credit to the Club. Bob Assur, Troon.

Fantastic Site and Wardens

The Wardens Ann and Martin were very helpful and did everything to help us make the most of our stay. The site looking over the sea was beautiful and the location for walking brilliant. Easy walking distance to the pub which was friendly and reasonably priced. On the night we stayed there was a local cancer charity event at the bowls club emphasising what a great local community surrounds the site. Lots of sight seeing in the area and plenty of interesting features. I would have no problem recommending this site and applauding the great job the wardens are doing to make this a wonderful place to stay. Thank you. Linda and Joy

Thanks

This was my third visit to this site. I. Was ther from 22nd until 27 th April. Each time I have felt so welcome, it is like returning home. Everything about it is geared to make the time there the best. It can be. The foundation of all of this is the ability Anne and Martin have to establish good relationships with the users. I would list This list this site as one of the best and look forward to my next visit. Thank you Anne and Martin. M. Kelly. I I

Easter Holiday Family Break 2019.

This was our second stay at this site from 13/4/19 for 7 nights with myself my wife and two children (7yrs & 4yrs). We love the area and would venture over more often but only able to do travel on longer breaks the access to this site is great no problems at all good roads etc and always a friendly welcome on arrival with the wardens very easy to talk to and helpful. We love the location of the site which is split into two halves both sides of road through village both peaceful and quiet with great safe space for the children to ride bikes etc on the good surfaces through the very well laid out site with nobody blocked in with great views. I would recommend this site for families as it is a good base for exploring the area from the local estate which leads to a great play beach, the Galloway forest has several visitor centres particularly Kirroughtree just outside Newton Stewart a short drive away. There is lots to do in the area for families the Cream O Galloway Ctr and the Cocoa bean factory are both good days out for the kids and not silly prices if on a budget!. To say we will be back is a understatement love this site set in the middle of a fantastic picturesque area.
