Lovely Site

Our first visit to the area and this site. Garlieston is a beautiful village and the views from the pitches is stunning. The warden was most friendly and helpful and it was a treat to be able to buy fresh fish from the fish van. This is a very quiet, small, site and may not be suitable for families with young children. The local hotel/bar was very pleasant for a drink or 2 after dinner. It was very popular with people from the site for dinner, although we didn't eat there. We enjoyed 4 lovely days here and look forward to our next visit. Handy for the Wigtown Book Festival in September too. We will definitely be back!!

Excellent

Sitting in our motorhome overlooking the harbour in bright sunshine (albeit chilly and windy). Then the fresh fish man came and the scallops were truly magnifique! What joy. This is our second visit here but it will not be the last time. The nearby Harbour Inn provided very well for our eating and drinking needs. Shh don’t tell anyone about the place or everyone will want to come.

Best Wardens Ever

We have been to this site many times and each time the welcome is warm. This year my husband was seriously ill and we had to cancel but rebooked now all is well. Not only did we have a lovely get well card from the wardens but on revisiting last week were met by Martin saying if you need any help just ask, this is standard from both of them. We look forward to returning next season, but after that may not return as it will not be the same without them. Such a shame that wardens who seem to fit like a glove to a site have to move on, think lots of regulars will feel the same. Everything is always immaculate and both Ann and Martin are a credit to the club. Thank you to them both for making all our visits such a pleasure

Relaxing Autumn break on immaculate site

We spent four nights at this lovely site. Very peaceful and quiet within a 100 or so metres of the local pub. Toilets and showers very clean. The site is kept beautiful with the falling autumn leaves swept and tidied. The wardens are extemely helpful and friendly. The walks around the coastline are stunning. We got kitted up with our waterproofs, however we only got one wet day which did not deter us, rucksack and packups, then headed for a nice quiet spot for lunch. If you enjoy walking you will love this site. Isle of Whithorn is worth a visit, with its picturesque harbour and laid back feel. Also a visit to the Galloway Forest is recommended. Would not hesitate in revisiting this site.

Fab little site

As an older couple in our 50s without kids, we love this site! This years visit was 19/10/17 - 23/10/17. As usual, the locals were lovely and welcoming in the pub and the wardens were accommodating. Our friends and ourselves had a fabulous relaxing weekend, which is what we wanted. Would recommend to anyone!!

Storm Brian

Horrid weather as Storm Brian came in. Huge waves in the bay, and the warden watching the height of high tide. Sensibly, they had closed the wetter grass pitches. The welcome, cleanliness and facilities were beyond reproach. We had a great couple of days with our friends in our two motorhomes. Evening meal in the village pub. A lovely location.

Gorgeous Location

First time at this site, it was recommended by a family member and we were not disappointed. It has a fantastic view across the bay if you park in the main park or if you prefer a beautiful walled garden to hide away in. The toilet blocks are very well kept and clean slightly older than most sites but this is the only negative comment I could make about the site. The local pub does fantastic food which if you prefer you can carry it out and have it in the comfort of your own van which is great for your first night, a fabulous meal without any cooking! There is plenty to do and see all around and the wardens are very helpful if you need any information.

Wonderful site in a beautiful location

Having quite recently joined the Caravan Club this was our first experience of a CC site and what an introduction! The location of the site in the peaceful little village of Garlieston right on the edge of Wigtown Bay is stunning. The site itself is impressive with spacious pitches, neatly manicured lawns and well looked after flowers and shrubs. The facilities are excellent, good showers and toilets and private cubicles for washing - all spotlessly clean. The site wardens are a lovely couple who manage the site really well and are both friendly and helpful, providing lots of local information and knowledge. There are two separate areas to the site; we were in the part overlooking the bay which was perfect for my bird watching husband. As the tide went out all the wading birds gathered at the water’s edge and around the rock pools - curlews, oystercatchers, redshanks, golden plover, good old seagulls and a few bossy swans. There is also the walled garden which looked good and is apparently a sun Trap! We ate in the Harbour Inn. It’s a cosy, lively pub with a good sized restaurant and the food was good. Wigtownshire is a lovely and often overlooked county with lots to do and see. The Wigtown Book Festival was on while we were there. There are interesting little towns and villages - Isle of Whithorn, Whithorn with its archaeological digs and St Ninian’s cave, Port Patrick, Logan Gardens and other gardens, day trips to Belfast and the Titanic Experience, Glentrool Forest Park - as well as great walks. Our only disappointment was that we were there for one night. We’ll definitely be back and for longer next time!

We made it!

We have visited Garlieston a number of times, but this was the first time we managed to follow the instructions and go straight there. It always seems such a long way from the main road - much further than one expects. As always the site was well kept and the facilities A1. The staff are helpful and enjoy a chat, even in the rain. Unfortunately the village PO and stores has closed so stock up before you arrive.

Garlieston, lovely seaside site

Garlieston, beautiful seaside location. Spotless facilities and helpful staff. In attractive village with pleasant pub/restaurant only 100 yards away.
