The night we arrived the police were called to the site to deal with local youths who were throwing stones at the caravans from the park side (separated by a chain-link fence). Our son and some other children went to the playground area, which was massive and very well equipped but not on-site, but didn't realise that the gate back into the site was locked at 8pm. Luckily the police who were there dealing with the youths, sent them back round to the main entrance as there were young children very upset by being locked out.
The facilities were a bit tired and clearly get boarded up for the winter, but were immaculately clean.
The central tent area was busy and there was a few issues with noise from the tents - or rather from people sleeping in cars.
Overall we had an ok stay, we enjoyed the cycle around the Loch, and visited places nearby but we wouldn't rush to return.
heaven
just back from a lovely weekend at this site. Very warm and helpful booking in from relief wardens. Lovely site well managed. toilet block nice and clean. Lots of walking of site with the dogs and cycling round the loch. There is plenty of shops near by if you like shopping.
negative point. Only pitchs left where grass and as the club has ruled the 3in rule this was no good. Feet soaking wet entering and leaving van. Early morning other caravaners sitting out enjoying breakfast in the sun. Couldn't do that as grass was soaking wet. Could the pitches not be walked over and checked by warden then cut to lower level. would not be so wet to park. Shifted to another pitch the next day. Apart from this it is a great site.

Disaster strikes
We arrived at this site on 15th August for 14 nights, we had booked a serviced pitch with awning, on arrival there were only 2 pitches available 13 & 15 after A week we soon realised why people were avoiding these pitches. However, good points first the site is well situated for shops and walking into Forfar, we also found the park next to site very good as we had grandchildren with us. Nice walk around the Loch and lots of places to visit in Angus within 30 minutes drive. Wardens were very helpful and friendly and the site was immaculate. Would also recommend the Osnaburg pub for family friendly pub with great food which was in Forfar around a 15 minutes walk. However, on the 22/23rd there was torrential rain and we awoke to your awning being 4inches deep in water we had children sleeping in the awning and suitcases with clothes in too. Everything was soaked and the water was not draining away, everything in the suitcase was soaked through as was all of the items stored in there.
I spoke to relief wardens who were very helpful and we moved to mother pitch however, this took 3-4 hours of our day moving soaked through items taking down and putting up our awning. After speaking to other people on site we were told that pitches 13 & 15 always flooded and have done so since the site was owned by the council, needless to say the people on pitch 15 also moved. I was very disappointed as the wardens must have known about this and we were given no warning and as rain was forecast I do feel that forewarning would have allowed us to move items into our car rot prevent such a disaster. If the wardens are aware of the problem it raises the question why hasn't the club done something to rectify this problem. I will be contacting the club personally regarding this matter, but anyone going when rain is forecast beware of those 2 pitches!!
Stop Over En-route
Been Here many times before but still struggles with these inconsiderate dog owners who let their dogs mess on site late at night. Staff great, and location near to all local facilities within walking distance, a great place to explore this part of Scotland. Regular bus services to Dundee and beyond. Good tie in with Forfar Golf club and discounted rates.
Fantastic Site
Arrived and was checked in by a friendly warden who took the time to ensure I had a look and chose what pitch I preferred and then ran through the necessary basics. Site was probably at around 80% capacity and we stayed for 4 x nights. Location is excellent and the site was spotlessly clean throughout the visit. Very dog friendly and the walk around the loch was superb. Play bark adjacent is council park but had great facilities and were accessed through a locked gate with a push button keycode. Staff could not have been any more helpful or friendlier. A large group of campers were on the grass area but they were surprisingly quiet. I would highly recommend this site.
Only fault I can pick on was that the signage to the site was poor. A caravan club sign pointing in would be better as we passed the entrance and had to find a place to turn when we realised, but this did not affect our visit in any way, just a recommendation.
I will DEFINITELY be back for another visit.
Disappointing visit
We have visited this site several times a year and always enjoyed.
This visited was swamped with large tents, kids crowding around toilet entrance in camping chairs, toilets not cleanest with trod in grass and messy toilets, not wardens issue, people issue.
Large number of speeding tenters cars made the grass footway into the toilets a real Health and Safety issue. There were also kids speeding around the site on motorised go karts.
Also the issue of hoards of people determined to cut through pitch, between caravan and car.
Beware when you book as not good value for money.
The tents visitors were noisy late evening and early morning.
Didn't make a relaxing visit

Excellent site
Spent two nights on this site and cannot fault it. First impression was of how friendly the warden who checked us in was. Spotless facilities. Loads of information leaflets etc available. Very convenient for shops, pubs, walking. Only negative I can think of was the difficult in knocking awning pegs in to the hard standing!
Fabulous stay
Just had a one night stay but wish it had been longer. This is an excellent site in an excellent area for exploring. Great for our 2 dogs who loved the walk around the loch. Excellent facilities, soooooooooo clean !! A lot of hard work has gone into this site and it shows. Will definitely come back

Fantastic quiet site
Arrived to this gem of a site to a very warm welcome from the wardens very helpful.
This site is very clean, toilet and showers spotless.
If you have a dog this site is idea as there is a loch which is 2. 5 miles round trip takes around a hour you can let your dog off.
Its such a peaceful site and would highly recommend it.
Wardens very good at the local knowledge of the area there is local supermarkets within walking distance. Overall great site 5 stars.
A gem of a site.
We arrived at Forfar Lochside on the 30th April, what a gem of a site.
The welcome from the warden on duty was very friendly and so helpful. Toilet and shower facilities were spotless. The only thing I would complain about is the fact that there are not a lot of serviced pitches but that is really a minor complaint.
Access to the town is very easy with the usual supermarkets very close by. You could actually walk to them if you felt energetic.
The walk around the loch is very easy going and takes about an hour for the 2.5 miles. well worth the effort.
This is the second time my wife and I have been here, we normally go down to Melrose for a short break but we have decided that Forfar is now our short break site. Looking forward to our next visit.
