This is the 3rd visit to this site since C&MC have taken it onto their books. The site is very well looked after by the current wardens who are doing a very good job.
If there was one bad thing I would say about this site is that the toilet block doesn't have a direct path to it across the very big grass circle (look at site plan) this encourages people to cut through between outfits and across the grass causing lots of muddy trails.
I would have thought that a proper gravel type path across this grass would benefit users and discourage folk making their own trails.
The walk/cycle round the Lock is pleasant, however the town itself is a bit of a let down as there is little of interest in it.
The benefit of having a car to get around and visit further afield would be helpful to those considering a stay here.
Maiden motorhome outing
Well folks - had out maiden voyage at the weekend to Forfar Lochside site.
Beautiful site but van suffered hundreds of pounds worth of damage due to youths throwing rocks over boundary fence :
As it happened late in the evening there were no staff on site but when I reported next morning they were brilliant - local police were also good.
Main concern is that this site has a history of this type of incident ( advised after incident by site staff and police) and we were not made aware of this threat when we went on site
.
CAMC are saying very little about it up to now and advising me to go through my insurance - which I am not happy about!
I would advise anyone going onto any site to ask the staff if they have suffered any incidents before parking up folks

Lovely Little Site
Great site with very friendly wardens.
WIFI very poor, so slow not worth paying for.
Very close to Shops and Amenities
Great dog walking just off site.
Be careful as it is first come first served for choosing pitch, just be aware that some pitches are larger than others. We were on Pitch 10 and it is very tight for car, van and awning.

Yet another good review
Our first visit of the year and yet again nothing but praise for this site with the exception of the WiFi being a waste of time as usual. The new wardens Kris & Phil were very friendly and helpful and have certainly settled in quickly. will be back before the season closes.
Amazing site
Before we arrived the warden phoned to inform us of the bad weather pending on our arrival but thankfully we were not to far away so decided still to go, on arrival the snow was very deep but the wardens had dug a path for us to use and gave us the nearest pitch to toilet block, we were the only ones on site as the had just opened and the snow had cancelled other people, the wardens were most helpful and nothing was a problem for them, every day they had to clear the path to toilet block, the toilet block was amazing warm and clean and the washing machine and dryer were a welcome as we had already been away for 4 days, the site is great for dogs as there is a loch right next to it with a 2 1/2 mile walk. Forfar center was within a 10 minute walk and of course Forfar birdie a must. Loved the site we will be back wished it was opened all year.
Another wonderful stay
Once again we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Forfar. Each visit has been at a different time of year and each time we have found the site to be of a very high standard. The facilities are second to none and the wardens so helpful and hard working. The site is also so handy for motorhome owners as local shops are very close by and there is a super walk round the loch or further afield on the Forfar pathways. The motorhome does not need to be packed up each day to go anywhere, there's lots to see and do close at hand if you don't mind walking. My husband even managed to go to a Forfar football match on the Saturday afternoon. We look forward to going back next season. I just wish the site were open all year round.

Peaceful weekend with a lovely loch side walk
We just had a lovely weekend staying in our motorhome on the site. We've tried to get on before but it is usually quite full. Well, it was worth the wait, the staff are helpful, lovely facilities that were clean and warm and sited right next to the loch. Our little pooch really enjoyed meeting the geese, ducks and other birds on and around the water. We will definitely return, and soon we hope.
Enjoyable break
Just had two nights on this site and really enjoyed it. We were there last year as well for a couple of days and were of the same opinion then as per this visit. The site is a nice size and located very well for the town centre with the added attraction of a very good two and a half mile walk right round the loch which is clean and flat. Perfect for the dogs exercise.
Slight downside was as previously mentioned in other reviews where there is a possibility of unruly kids at night walking close to the site. We experienced it one night but it was only a bit of loud banter by kids walking on the public footpath outside the fence, it passed very quickly, the site being secure anyway with the steel fence and key code lock on the gate. On the whole no hassle.
Site is also well placed for visiting the Angus and Tayside areas with places like Dundee, Arbroath, Montrose, Glamis Castle and other places all within easy reach.
Well worth a visit to this site.
Nice location but anti-social behaviour
The night we arrived the police were called to the site to deal with local youths who were throwing stones at the caravans from the park side (separated by a chain-link fence). Our son and some other children went to the playground area, which was massive and very well equipped but not on-site, but didn't realise that the gate back into the site was locked at 8pm. Luckily the police who were there dealing with the youths, sent them back round to the main entrance as there were young children very upset by being locked out.
The facilities were a bit tired and clearly get boarded up for the winter, but were immaculately clean.
The central tent area was busy and there was a few issues with noise from the tents - or rather from people sleeping in cars.
Overall we had an ok stay, we enjoyed the cycle around the Loch, and visited places nearby but we wouldn't rush to return.
heaven
just back from a lovely weekend at this site. Very warm and helpful booking in from relief wardens. Lovely site well managed. toilet block nice and clean. Lots of walking of site with the dogs and cycling round the loch. There is plenty of shops near by if you like shopping.
negative point. Only pitchs left where grass and as the club has ruled the 3in rule this was no good. Feet soaking wet entering and leaving van. Early morning other caravaners sitting out enjoying breakfast in the sun. Couldn't do that as grass was soaking wet. Could the pitches not be walked over and checked by warden then cut to lower level. would not be so wet to park. Shifted to another pitch the next day. Apart from this it is a great site.
