First visit to this site, made very welcome by the cheerful warden.
Site is situated beside a small loch with a circular walk (about 2 miles, level, well defined footpath); easy walking distance of Forfar town centre which has a good selection of independant shops and an interesting museum. Aldi, Lidl, Tesco & Farmfoods are on the outskirts nearby.
Site, toilets and showers spotlessly clean. Bins regularly emptied.
Lots of useful local info including a notebook giving other visitors' feedback on eateries which we found helpful.
Only negatives are : depending on wind level and direction you can sometimes hear slight traffic noise from the A90 (approx 1 mile away); the gent's shower block does not have a mirror so you have to go back into the toilet block if you need to comb your hair; site might benefit from a footpath across the grass to the toilet block but these are VERY minor niggles.
Once again cannot find fault with this site, made to feel very welcome with the new warden, site was not full but a good few caravans and motorhomes out especially in February, looking forward to our next visit
This was our first ever weekend away,
A complete new be, as we had never towed a caravan before we picked a site near to our home which was a straight drive down from Aberdeen on dual carriageway (nervie) but got there in one piece. What I would like to say is that if this is the standard and quality of caravan club sites I can't wait to find a better one if this is possible. All our friend asked us how we got on, could not praise Forfar Lochside enough. Can't wait for next trip away. 10/10
Our first visit to this site for a long-weekend and we certainly weren't disappointed. Facilities were modern, spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The site is lovely and quiet and in easy walking distance of Forfar town centre, local supermarkets and pubs. The loch with its variety of wild fowl made for pleasant dog walk at this time of year.
There's plenty to see and do in the area, Olympia Swimming pool and flumes in Dundee (great for kids and young-at-heart-adults), Glamis Castle and grounds to name only two.
If I could change anything about the site, I would put a footpath across the grass to the toilet block but other than that I would say it was near perfect.
Will definitely return for a longer stay.
