Down by the waterside

Easy to find site by the small Loch very near to the centre of the town. Showers, toilets very clean (appear to have been recently built/refurbished). Level pitches with selection of grass and hardstanding. Very busy but it was school holiday time. Unfortunately due to family issues could only stay one night of the two we'd booked. Will have to revisit to see something of the area, i.e. handy for Glamis Castle amongst other attractions. Chapter and Verse on Castle Street worth a visit if not cooking in the 'van - family business, good food.

The Perfect Site

We spent five nights in July at Forfar Lochside. I cannot speak highly enough of this site. The location is excellent offering lakeside walks, golf courses nearby, and easy access to Dundee, Arbroath, Kirriemuir and surrounding area. The site is within the town of Forfar with supermarkets, restaurants and pubs as well as niche shops. The site facilities are excellent and are maintained to the highest standard by the outstanding warden team. This is a friendly site, and is a shining example of what Caravan Club sites should be. We will be back.

Nice relaxing stay

Stayed at Forfar Lochside from 31 May to 4 June en route to Scottish Highlands. Overall a nice compact site with tidy level pitches, decent facilities and friendly wardens. Did not have car during stay but site adjacent to Forfar Loch (suppose site name a big clue) which provided a pleasant 2.5 mile walk around for dogs, Town Centre only 10 minute walk with a selection of shops and eateries (must try a Bridie) plus Tesco or Asda superstores within 10 mins walk of site. Enjoyed stay and would return again although bring car next time to visit attractions within 20 mile radius.

Busy site, very well placed

I spent one night at this site on a tour of Fife and Angus. Arrived late afternoon and was surprised to find the site full sign up mid week. I was lucky as one pitch came free whilst I was waiting and the very helpful warden was able to have a look at the availability of nearby CC sites at Stonehaven and Banchory. This is a very well placed site, a few minutes walk into the town of Forfar and the shops, and a nice walk around the Forfar loch right is next to the site. Very good facilities and although the site was full these are enough showers etc available to cope with the numbers. A very friendly site, well managed safe and secure. This is a site on my list of places to return to again. I suggest that you check availability and book a pitch as this is a busy popular site.

Forfar - relax and enjoy

This site is open whilst retaining trees and shrubs that attract bird life. There are brilliant walks from the site around the loch and again the bird life is great. Leisure facilities are just off site and very much child friendly. Overall we loved our  stay so much we have booked another visit.

Back again and again

We have been coming to this site for the last couple of years, at first we did notice a bit of noise from the nearby community centre (mainly at weekends) but that is expected from a town site, we now pitch at the rear of the site whenever we can.  The facilities are spotless and the location - next to the loch - is fantastic for nature lovers and dog walking alike.  I must mention the nearby Strathmore Cricket Club where CC members are most welcome. There is a sailing club on the loch, they just had an open day with free sailing lessons, I declined but took up an offer to have a go with a radio controlled yacht... (kindly supplied by the Tayside and Buchan yacht clubs respectively) I think I've discovered a new hobby!  There is also fly fishing available (trout and pike) although you do require a local permit. The town itself offers a wide range of independent shops tea rooms etc...and all major supermarkets, all within walking distance, further afield, you must go to Arbroath to try their famous 'smokies'. My only niggle is Radio 2 reception seems to have fell of the radar... well you can't have it all I suppose. Overall a fantastic site and we intend to return more frequently.

First Visit

This was our first visit to this beautiful site.  We are new to caravanning and just our third trip ever.  2 adults and dog, so looking for peace and quiet, a short trip from our home.  We found it absolutely perfect.  Excellent roomy pitches and immaculate facilities.  We also could not rate it highly enough!  Loved the fact the town was a short walk away and made use of the nearby Glens for some walking and 'Dinos' for a takeaway tea.  All lovely and will definitely be back!

last visit

We have stayed on Lochside many times. not again. we arrived two mins early, to be met by a surly male temp warden.site as usual was lovely. washrooms clean. our evenings where spent on tenterhooks, by youths kicking footballs into and over the fence, scaling the fence to retrieve their ball 2/3 hours a night. we found it difficult to relax.

Good Time

Recently returned to Forfar after the Caravan Club make over. Very much up to the high standard of the Club.  Excellent and very clean facilities.  Wardens were very welcoming and helpful.  Close to good choice of shops. Hope to revisit again soon.
