We arrived at the site at 5pm and were greeted by a friendly warden who helped us find a good pitch near to the wash block and found everything as you would wish. The toilets lovely and clean and nice and warm (December time) especially at 6am when we departed nice and early.
Rude Staff
We arrived 10 mins early, we buzzed the buzzer and was told " I'm busy sorting out the toilets, you will have to reverse out and come back in 10 mins, I understand that we were early but a queue had formed behind us and we could not reverse with our caravan, a lady then came over and told us off basically for arriving early, she opened the barrier for us and told us to park in the arrivals section and not to be early next time, staff were rude and very unwelcoming.
The next day we were told off for not taking the quickest route off site to walk our dog, we walked past 2 extra caravans, I told the warden we were heading to the exit, he pointed and said your caravan is there, you should have come this way, we felt like naughty children, we went to the office to read the parks policy on dogs, we told the lady we were on plot 57, she said to my husband..."Pitch" 57? again being made to feel uncomfortable, I feel the staff here have alot to learn about talking to people and not talking down to them, yes the toilets were immaculate but what's the point if you have rude and unwelcoming staff.
Weekend with the Grandchildren
Booked in over half term with our 3 grandchildren. The site was extremely busy, despite that the staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were all well maintained and in excellent working order. The play park is well appointed and kept the little ones occupied for a considerable time. The close proximity of Nene Park is a bonus, plenty going on and literally on the doorstep. We used the steam railway, complete with discount for staying on site, to go into Peterborough, a regular service and a treat for us all. We used the nearby pub/restaurant for Sunday lunch, despite booking we had some service issues, if you plan to use it make sure you do book and allow plenty of time to eat. This is a site we shall definitely return to and we all had a thoroughly enjoyable time, it is easy to see why this is such a popular site.
Excellent location
This site is well kept, clean and superbly located for the nearby parkland which is extensive. Whether you want to walk, cycle, fish, play golf, take the train and / or go in to Peterborough it could not be easier or more convenient. It all on the Doorstep waiting for you.
There is a garden centre and a restaurant very close by, cycle hire a few yards from the gate, what else is there to want?
Highly recommended
Have already earmarked as a 'return to site', simples.
We were both quite taken with this site from the time of arrival. Loved the fact that it is open all year round. Facilities are very good and although our early November visit was not the height of summer the venue, and site staff, just welcomes you and you can also visualise the summer days at this site. It is already marked down as a site to return to for us. A although this time it was a 'passing through' visit we will definitely be returning.

1st visit to ferry Meadows
1st visit to ferry Meadows so not quite sure what to expect from reading the earlier reviews. We opted for the West side due to it being away from the play area. The location is very good being next to the Nene Valley Country Park. The Nene valley railway runs close to the site, so you can hear the steam trains, but they are a great route into town if you don't like walking. It is best to check the time table before relying on this service. The facilities have a few very minor problems, but this is nothing to do with the management team, who do everything they can to keep everything looking great. Loved the well stocked shop. We did find that the roadways were a little tight in width. We had parked right up to the white peg, but found that the passing vehicles were quite close to the front of our vehicle. These very minor points aside the place will certainly be a regular visit for us.
Typical site with pluses and minuses
This was my second visit to Ferry Meadows but on this occasion I was only here one night. I have no reason to amend by previous review of a few years back which in sum concluded thus:
I prefer the east side as it has a much more open aspect to it, but it has (or at least had - I didn't check on this visit) fewer hard standings and I won't pitch on grass. The west side can feel claustrophobic I feel as mostly the pitches are clustered in small sections surrounded by trees which overhang many pitches. This is anathema to me.
There's plenty to do in the area with the country park and the Nene Valley Railway. Peterborough itself is definitely worth a visit, especially the under-rated cathedral.
I did not use the TV point on the bollard and I got excellent reception whereas last time I did use the bollards and it was poor. The loo blocks are excellent and the warden was very friendly. There was a wonderful selection of Danish pastries and other goodies in the reception shop as well. Yum yum!
All in all a good place to visit.
An improving site after years of neglect.
Been here for the past 30 years some good, some poor. always issues with early arrivals and kids on the mini Beirut side where the kids run riot all summer. Seems like the current wardens are getting a grip on both issues as well as dogs doing it wherever. Wardens say they get mouthfuls of abuse when they stop dog owners but really is this what we want.
Our stay was OK other than yappy dogs constantly making a noise day and night as if owners simply don't care. We like the site hence 30 years but we see a decline in member standards and self opinionated extroverts. Glad were not wardens !!!!!!!!!!
Great location
First visit as felt it was a bit close to home. Lovely site and lots of walking with the dog.Beeffeater and garden centre 10 mins walk plus cafes on lake. Site well kept and it is only as clean as the people who use it.Wardens work hard on these big sites. Wish I had visited sooner and will make it a regular stop.

Lovely Walking Place to Stay
This is the second time we have stayed at Ferry Meadows, it is a lovely clean site and brilliant for plenty of walks especially if you have a dog, most of the wardens are friendly although one likes to be a jobsworth it would be nice to see wardens walk round the sites more instead of buzzing round on the tractors but I would recommend this site.
