Winter Break

We have been to Ferry Meadows many times over the years so we are familiar with the site. Its location is very good with easy access to the Nene Valley Park which gives plenty of walking/cycling opportunities. We were fortunate that we had some sunny days and whilst not hot, but what do you expect in January, it proved ideal conditions for walks. We also wandered down to the Garden Centre and afterwards had a meal in the convenient Granary Inn. This was our first encounter with the new barrier. Whilst I understand the reasons for its installation I imagine that at busy times it could cause difficulties. I felt that some of the site roads need resurfacing. My main gripe was the motorhome service point if you can call it that! The single drain is positioned in such a way that it is far from easy to place the motorhome waste point over the drain. We had to reverse in the wrong way and as a result block the road in order to use the waste point. Surely a site as large and as busy as Ferry Meadows warrants one of the new open grill waste points?

Disappointed

We visit this site every year except last year due to ill health. We did however visit in January 2018 for nine nights we were expecting some renovation to some pitches and roadway but sadly despite contacting the club some years ago and receiving communication from the area manager the same pitches were in need of additional stones laying, fixing the pot holes to the edges of the pitches and 2 sections of roadway still suffered from flooding which when the frost came the roadway became very dangerous, one good thing was it did slow the cars down to the 5MPH. The new entrance barrier is poorly positioned as it blocks the narrow road to the park, and if solo or want to visit the park you have to sit in the que while new arrivals are vetted by the wardens. this would have been better if 2 barriers had been installed within the clubs own site car park. On a positive note the wardens are brilliant, the site is well situated for using the miles of parks footpaths for walking and cycling. Shops are within walking distance. Garden centre is also close by with cafe. The Granary pub is also within walking distance. The Windmill Pub serves excellent food and if you produce your club membership card you get 10% discount off the food. Unfortunately the steam train was not running during our visit, but we did see the diesel pass the site.

Close to home

Have been twice this year so far and no doubt we shall visit again. The wardens on reception greet you with a smile and are happy to help. Peterborough is easy to get to. You can catch a bus not too far from the site and in the spring the beautiful nene valley steam train runs back and forth. It is very local for us and makes a quick weekend that goes too quickly for us

Stayed one night in a Motorhome, selection of pitches available all hardstanding and easy access to accommodate a twin axle motorhome. Site very clean and tidy. Wardens were very friendly and approachable, experianced travellers themselve were able to give good advise on European travel. well worth picking their brains. Overall very please with the stay and would return again.

Great site with friendly wardens

We stayed here after the Christmas and New Year - sounds like we missed a lot of fun! We loved the country park, great for lovely winter walks. We also enjoyed an afternoon at the shops in Peterborough, which is useful if its cold or rainy outside as there is a big indoor shopping centre. The site is kept very clean and complete with a lotion in the loo's which was a lovely touch. We found the wardens very helpful and friendly. They were even kind enough to give our son a very special hat upon noticing he has alopecia. My son was very touched by this kindness and has been wearing the cap non-stop! Recommend this site for families and couples alike. We would also recommend a fish and chip shop not too far away called Fishtastic. We found it by accident but if you don't mind a little drive to pick them up, they were yummy!

Too many "do not" signs

Stayed as a stopover for two nights on way further north. Nice clean site right next door to a country park with lots of walking, really good for dogs once you get past the first half mile congregation of dog and owner. Just over three mile's walk to Peterborough, mostly following the railway & easy walking. Staff were friendly so no complaints there, however there are signs everywhere for "do not" do this "do not" do that etc. Even a sticker on the soap bottle in the launderette asking you not to remove it. Bit excessive we thought and makes you feel slightly on edge even when your not doing anything wrong!! Nice surrounding area and a nicely lanscaped clean sure, would I return? Yes for a night stopover but not for longer.

Christmas at Ferry Meadows

Our first Christmas at Ferry Meadows but hopefully not our last! We visit this site regularly as it is a favourite so we thought we'd give Christmas a go. We were certainly not disappointed as the wardens pulled out all the stops to make it one to remember. From the initial welcome and the Christmas Eve carol singers and buffet, through to the 'Santa' delivery on Christmas morning they did a fantastic job. The site is, as expected, very well maintained and the location makes it perfect for all kinds of activities, or just chilling in the van to the sound of steam and diesel locomotives. Looking forward to our next visit!

Lovely New Year

We stayed on this site for New Year. We were very impressed the wardens put on a hog roast and buffet for New Year’s Eve. We stay here regularly and have always had a good stay with nene park so close and trains to Peterborough on the doorstep. Plenty to do and always immaculately clean. Well done to the wardens. Look forward to returning. Thank you

Sorry I missed the festivities!

I only stayed here one night between Christmas and New Year as a late booking to meet a friend, but I could see there was a definite festive atmosphere there. The wardens were very helpful and friendly and it sounds like they'd pulled out all stops to make it a special time for folks. Its location is perfect to go for walks/cycle rides (as I did) with the Country Park being so close. It was also lovely to hear the toot of the steam engine of the Nene Valley Railway. I'll definitely be back and bring the family.

Lovey Christmas & New Year

This is not our first visit to the site and will not be our last. We’ve spent 17 nights here over Christmas & New Year, the wardens worked very hard to put on a Christmas Eve event including a buffet & drinks along with Carol singers from the local church which we could all join in, the on Christmas Day Santa & a snowman (the site wardens) give out presents to every unit on site, this was a lovely thought. Then on New Year’s even there was another event put on by the wardens which was well attended & enjoyed. We will return to this well run site with clean facilities.
