Fabulous spot with top crafting classes available not far away

We have been to Ferry Meadows many times both with and without our grandchildren. An ideal location for spending a quiet week or weekend . It is also an ideal overnighter on the way to the east coast . For us it has the supreme advantage of being very close to one of the greatest papercraft locations which has classes for scrapbooking and cards (Sir Stampalot) . Our dog absolutely loves it and even in the wettest weather we had torrential rain overnight on the Friday a few pitches were flooded but by the time we returned from class it had gone completely well done on the drainage front. Wifi is very good especially compared to other club sites despite the rain on Friday evening which we would have expected to reduce the quality of the internet . We have used in the past both sides and know all is extremely good neat and clean.

Excellent Site

We have not long returned from another week in Ferry Meadows, this is one of our favourite sites, the wardens are lovely, helpful and friendly and go the extra mile. The location is excellent for walking, dog walking and riding your bikes. There are 2 lakes to walk round and 2 cafes if you want to have a stop. The facilities at Ferry Meadows are excellent, clean toilets and showers, plenty of hot water and the shop is open all day.

Winter Haven

Location Great. , signage to reach the site and access to it, is very good. Wardens excellent as always. Toilet Block always warm and clean, although can be a bit muddy when the little ones are on holiday from school, but that is to be expected. We have only ever visited in the winter so cannot comment on conditions during the drier months. Wardens very busy doing a lot of tree/bush pruning but Site roads/pitches looking a little tired. Could also do with some fully serviced pitches. Only little niggle to the visit was the length of time it took to be served at the Chippy Van on Site, 1 hour 10 minutes standing in the frozen wind conditions Fri 23rd Feb. Obviously we should have pre-ordered. The quality unfortunately was not worth the wait !!! John 50.

Ferry cold, but worth it!

We have just returned from a 2 night weekend break. The wardens were lovely, so helpful and accommodating right from the word go. The site was about half full, so there was plenty of choice of pitches. I was quite disappointed by the overall appearance of the site, as it felt unloved and tired. The roadways in particular were in need of repair, as almost all round the site there were pot holes and large puddles. Some of the pitches were also in need of repair, as there were a lot where you couldn't quite tell where the hardstanding ended, and the grass began. All that said, we will be back later in the year, in much better weather, so hopefully it will look a lot better! The location to Peterborough is perfect. Close enough to get to, far enough away to be a quiet site.

'Ferry' enjoyable

Another enjoyable and pleasurable visit to Ferry Meadows. As usual there was the friendly wardens greeting us on arrival and the facilities were of the standard expected on the Caravan and Motorhome club sites. A trip into Peterborough found a town with plenty to offer for those wanting retail therapy, the Nene Park being just a short walk is a great area for bird watching, cycling etc with a cafe, you can even take a steam train trip on the Nene Valley Railway which has a station only 200 yards from the main gate. A 'ferry' enjoyable long weekend!

No Radio

We stayed for just one night at the Ferry Meadows Caravan Club site. Everything from the welcome onwards was very good. We had a lovely long walk around the lakes and even did some bird watching. We would happily stay here again. Another site without a radio in the toilet block.

Winter Break

We have been to Ferry Meadows many times over the years so we are familiar with the site. Its location is very good with easy access to the Nene Valley Park which gives plenty of walking/cycling opportunities. We were fortunate that we had some sunny days and whilst not hot, but what do you expect in January, it proved ideal conditions for walks. We also wandered down to the Garden Centre and afterwards had a meal in the convenient Granary Inn. This was our first encounter with the new barrier. Whilst I understand the reasons for its installation I imagine that at busy times it could cause difficulties. I felt that some of the site roads need resurfacing. My main gripe was the motorhome service point if you can call it that! The single drain is positioned in such a way that it is far from easy to place the motorhome waste point over the drain. We had to reverse in the wrong way and as a result block the road in order to use the waste point. Surely a site as large and as busy as Ferry Meadows warrants one of the new open grill waste points?

Disappointed

We visit this site every year except last year due to ill health. We did however visit in January 2018 for nine nights we were expecting some renovation to some pitches and roadway but sadly despite contacting the club some years ago and receiving communication from the area manager the same pitches were in need of additional stones laying, fixing the pot holes to the edges of the pitches and 2 sections of roadway still suffered from flooding which when the frost came the roadway became very dangerous, one good thing was it did slow the cars down to the 5MPH. The new entrance barrier is poorly positioned as it blocks the narrow road to the park, and if solo or want to visit the park you have to sit in the que while new arrivals are vetted by the wardens. this would have been better if 2 barriers had been installed within the clubs own site car park. On a positive note the wardens are brilliant, the site is well situated for using the miles of parks footpaths for walking and cycling. Shops are within walking distance. Garden centre is also close by with cafe. The Granary pub is also within walking distance. The Windmill Pub serves excellent food and if you produce your club membership card you get 10% discount off the food. Unfortunately the steam train was not running during our visit, but we did see the diesel pass the site.

Close to home

Have been twice this year so far and no doubt we shall visit again. The wardens on reception greet you with a smile and are happy to help. Peterborough is easy to get to. You can catch a bus not too far from the site and in the spring the beautiful nene valley steam train runs back and forth. It is very local for us and makes a quick weekend that goes too quickly for us

January

Stayed one night in a Motorhome, selection of pitches available all hardstanding and easy access to accommodate a twin axle motorhome. Site very clean and tidy. Wardens were very friendly and approachable, experianced travellers themselve were able to give good advise on European travel. well worth picking their brains. Overall very please with the stay and would return again.
