Really helpful manager/wardens

After a very congested journey a warm and friendly welcome from the lady booking us in. As we arrived later than planned only a couple of pitches were left, although told we could move in the morning as she had quite a few leaving. The facilities were kept immaculate throughout despite being busy over the weekend. It’s a great site, with the park and lakes a short walk away. Wildlife in abundance. I’d certainly return which is a recommendation for the site.

Great site for a summers weekend break

We stayed on the East side of the site on our visit this time which is the first time we have been on that side, we are normally on the West. We preferred the layout and feel of the East side. The site was packed when we stayed, however was remarkably quiet. The site is great for family's with the huge park next door with many play areas for kids and lots of space for dogs to run around. We walked to the Beefeater at the end of the road on the first night and sat outside for a nice cold drink as they don't allow dogs inside. We then ventured to the Woodman which is a little over a mile walk away through the park and this was much more dog friendly and we enjoyed a nice lunch there. The site itself was tidy and clean whilst we were there and the staff very welcoming. Highly recommend this site for a family break away.

Short Stay but impressed.

Visited for a 60th birthday party in Peterborough and decided to make a long weekend of it. Read all the positives and we agree with them. Found it very peaceful for a chill on the day after party when feeling a bit delicate :-) Ideal for the next day post recovery to drive 15 minutes to Burghley House and would highly recommend if like us you are a house and garden fan, stunning. The main thing worth a mention in an excellent all round site is the check-in. Met at gate with a smile, pointed to the correct check-in lane where met by a second member of staff who explained the procedures and site layout on a site plan. Very efficient and slick. All staff very friendly.

Been coming for 35 years and it gets better

Started coming to Ferry Meadows probably 35 years ago when there was only the East site. Since then it has grown. This year, at May late bank holiday we decided to have a weekend away. Most sites withing a reasonable travelling distance were full, but Ferry Meadows was able to offer me a hard standing. There were several available when we arrived but they are all level, reasonably close to water and waste points, food van on site 4 or 5 evenings a week. Staff are helpful and always seem to be busy doing something to keep the site clean and tidy. Toilets and showers should get an award for cleanliness, especially as there were a lot of children on site as it was half term. It was a bit noisy near the playground, but with hundreds of children around enjoying themselves that was to be expected. there are quiet areas as well. Plenty to see and do, if you go on the Nene Valley Railway (Overton Station is only a few hundred yards for the site entrance) show your booking (on your phone is OK) for a 15% discount (at the time of writing). Overton station staff are very nice and helpful and sell some great plants at reasonable prices. Vivvienes chip shop next to Tesco on Napier Place is a good take away and the cafe just inside Nene Valley Park will give a discount on production of membership card. Good food as well.

Fabulous family site with lots to do outdoors

Lovely spacious grass pitches on the playground side. Easy access to Ferry Meadows county park for cycling, walking, boat trips, pedalos, ice creams and playgrounds. Easy cycling access to Peterborough including Railworld, Cathederal, Lido, shopping etc. All round great site.

Great site for walking

We stayed here at the end of March for a few days in our motorhome. Really friendly wardens, especially on check in when we wanted to upgrade to a fully serviced pitch. The surroundings to the site are very lovely with such an abundance of walks to go on. We visited The Cuckoo and The Boathouse, both on foot - about half hour each way, and had a lovely lunch at both. The walks through the park were great and well signposted. Really enjoyed the bluebell woods. Would of loved to have gone on the Nene railway, but it wasn't running on the days we were there. Shower facilities are usual CAMC style, lots of hot water and very very clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

change of rubbish disposal

a bit dissapointed on my last visit as there are no dustbins on the service points and all the rubbish has to be taken to two large skips in the centre. i was on the hard standing side of the club site. on previous visits each service areas had dustbins. other than that a good site with a small walk to the park and lakes.

Very good stay, excellent location and very helpful staff

My wife and I stayed here for a few days and enjoyed it so much we came back the following weekend with out grandchildren. The site is a great location for the Ferry Meadows country park which has a lot of walks, riding, nature and food stops. Also the paths are reasonably surfaced and stand up well to the very wet weather we have had recently. Also convienient to the site are several longer rides by Sustrans and the Peterborough Green Wheel (though it you do this avoid the route that comes through Peterborough centre and take a more Easterly route). There is also a very nice garden centre within walking distance and of course the Nene Valley railway. The site itself if very nice with the option to go on the Eastern side if you want to be near the play area or the Western side if you would prefer a somewhat quieter stay. Our grandchildren really loved the play area here, even more than the ones in Ferry Meadows country park. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will certainly be returning again in the not too distant future

Another Return Visit

Over the years we have visited Ferry Meadows quite a lot as it's only 50 from where we live. It would be a good stopover site for anyone travelling down the A1 which is only about 3 miles away. We find there is enough to amuse ourselves with in the immediate vicinity of the site and the Country Park not to need to travel further afield on a short stay. The Park has miles of walkways/cycleways. There is a nice shop and cafe as you enter the Park. In the other direction you have access to the Nene Valley Railway from the Overton Station. A little further on is the Notcutts Garden Centre and next to that a Beefeater pub/restaurant. There is also a Golf Course. We were last here in 2022 and there have been quite a few positive changes. Should add only the West Site was open during our stay. As motorhomers it was good to see, at long last, a nice open grill waste water point. As with some other sites Ferry Meadows now has a single rubbish collection point. Staff at reception were very friendly and it was good to see a reasonable selection of essentials for sale. I noticed there are now some serviced pitches. Pitching instructions have been changed again! This time I think they have got it right. Still two pegs but wider apart so you have more choice on how you pitch. Car, Caravan, Awning or Caravan, Awning, Car is now an option. For us motorhomers we no longer have half the pitch wasted on the off side of the van so from my point of view a worthwhile and sensible change. I did try the free WiFi which seemed to work quite well but I didn't try the premium service as I tend to tether my phone on 4G which seemed to work quite well on this site. The site has a Co-Ax TV connection on the electric bollards not perfect but better than nothing, not quite sure why the TV signal is so poor here, its hardly mountainous! Finally there are several food vendors on different days of the week, not sure what sort of season they cover.
