Fantastic site, which is well kept and well laid out. Facilities are always clean. Short walk to the lovely Nene Park. One gripe, which is not the fault of the club, so not dropping a star for. Late night/early hours, Nene park seems to attract boy/girl racers, blasting music which can be heard all over the site. Would be nice if the club could work with the park to put a stop to this.
Another Lovely Short Stay
We visit Ferry Meadows 3 or 4 times a year and are never disappointed. Booking in was very efficient - we were met at the gate, asked to choose a pitch and return to reception with our membership card. We were booked to stay 3 nights, but we requested a later departure (3pm) and this was warmly granted. We like the visiting takeaway vans and can recommend the Fish & chips on a Friday, Pizza Saturday and Indian Sunday. The park itself was very waterlogged, but there was still enough paths to stretch our legs and enjoy the views and wildlife. Only slight negative is, similar to most if not all sites, there always seems to be a lot of maintenance going on which requires ridiculously noisy machinery. It does spoil the peace and tranquillity somewhat and we would request that C&MC consider investing in quieter equipment.
We enjoyed 8 nights here
We stayed here for 8 nights whilst touring in September 2024. We had transferred our booking from Dorset to escape the rain. The wardens have had a few negative comments on reviews so I shall start by briefly saying we spoke to every one at some point during our stay and they were friendly, engaging, helpful and courteous throughout. The site is in 2 halves and we stayed on the hard standing side. There are quite a lot of trees surrounding the site so getting a pitch with plenty of sun is unlikely. The site is very pretty and located within the Ferry Meadows Country park with all of it's facilities literally next door. As I have come to expect the standard of cleanliness from the wardens was very high and the new waste management was centrally located for ease of access. There are take away food vans visiting the site 5 nights a week and all appeared to provide top quality food, I can vouch for the fish & chips and the pizza. Telephone signal was fine at 4G and the site did have full Wi-Fi coverage, which we didn't really use. Easy access into Peterborough with a bus stop about 20 minutes walk away on paths. Easy access to NT properties in the area using the motorhome. Plenty of places to eat within reasonable distance, including walkable. We did visit Peterborough but were not overly impressed so drove out or enjoyed the park. We thankfully enjoyed a dry stay
Welcome?
Superb location. walkers paradise, cyclists dream.Bird watchers, Naturalists fill your boots. Thats without even getting in a car. Everything for the active family. The east side has a very good children's playground, The west side has nothing. As good as the location is and the opportunities available outside the gates, the site itself is boring and souless. Perhaps it's that there's too much outside the gates or its that its on two sites either site of the road. Maybe its a total lack of interest from the wardens beyond the most basic. Clip board 'welcome' is a bit ott outside high season. My husband,on arrival went to pay he felt a very unwelcoming vibe like he was too much trouble. I guess it's hard to get wardens but a bit of cheeriness goes a long way. Doesn't make us feel like rushing back.
yet theres so much outside the camp gates.
The Windmill at Orton Waterville does great food every day and walkable.
The Woodman at Thorpe Wood is good, walkable through the country park itself and does food.
There are numerous great country pubs in villages if you head out west, from the site towards Stamford and Oundle. Stamford worth a day especially Friday as its market day.
But the site is just for pitching on and clearing off. A shame because it could be so nice

Management Change
I have always loved the friendly welcome I have received at this establishment, I have been to other parks and the management have made it uncomfortable with petty rules and their attitude I have always felt that nothing was too much trouble and they really wanted to make your stay a special one, and they valued you being there.
The arrival was much more matter-of-fact bordering on rude, to be honest, no friendly personal touch. it was as if they would have preferred you were not there; I have never had this in the past. From the first time I arrived about 2 years ago until Friday the 23 of August 2024, my arrival at Ferry Meadows was like meeting old friends, the welcome was always there, even on my first day. Really lovely people.
The facilities were spotless as always and nothing else had changed would I go back again, I am unsure, as I certainly was not welcomed on my last arrival, I felt that I wanted to turn around and go home. To be honest IF it hadn't been my wife's birthday I would have left.
I have always felt that as soon as I turned into Ferry Meadows I was home and at a special place, but I honestly felt disappointed and unwelcome. I have to say the old managers never made me feel unwelcome.
Let's hope it was first night nerves and these quickly go or otherwise, my next visit will be my last one to Ferry Meadows.
Great site, rules not enforced spoils experience
Second time here. First time during summer. Young family (2A2C1D).
Great site when is calm and half-empty. Not so great when is packed.
We pitched near to the play area, as we have kids. Big mistake.
Our first visit was great, the second would have been better if there was enforcement of the site rules in general.
Too many teenagers spoiling the experience for young kids, bullies literally terrorising other kids and dominating the playground (12, 14yo kids telling who can or cannot play, while the playground is suitable for 5yo max). We saw a (big) teenager pushing a 3-4yo boy out of the top of the climbing frame. Just ridiculous. This same kid one night was wearing a balaclava and carrying a bat. He destroyed one of the campsite flags from its pole. This has been reported to reception, who had a word with their parents, but nothing changed. Late on same night the "gang"was back at being silly.
Groups of kids racing on bicycles where clearly stated was a passage area (bikes not allowed).
Screaming and shouting until late night.
In sum, when is off-season, is a great place. I won't be returning at busy periods.

Lovely stay at Ferry Meadows
This really is a very nice site, great location, excellent facilities and particularly friendly and helpful staff.
Unfortunately during our stay a family member was unwell and we had to call for an ambulance, all the staff on duty but particularly Richard and Lisa (who stayed with us throughout the entire episode) remained calm and their experience of dealing with difficult situations shone through, so a big thank you from us.
This time we stayed on the West side which although busy remained quite, East side definitely better for families and children.
Our fourth very pleasant stay at Ferry Meadows
This was our fourth visit to Ferry Meadows. We have stayed there in all seasons and found it to be a happy and friendly campsite whatever the time of year. On this particular visit we did notice that the staff were having some difficulties with an especially challenging visitor. They dealt with the situation admirablly and did not let the unpleasantness spoil our visit.
I love the walks in Nene Park and seeing so many people using it to meet family members, to picnic and to play. The hides by the the lake are good places to spot many different types of birds.
We cycled to the Cuckoo where we had a great Sunday Roast (good idea to book beforehand) we also cycled to the Windmill where we enjoyed a pint. Cycling in the Park is great fun and safe.
We will definitely be back for more visits and look forward to our next one.
Probably My Favourite Site
We've visited Ferry Meadows a couple of times now and love it. There is such a variety of things to see and do. The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are clean and well cared for.
I look forward to staying here whenever we are in this area.
Really helpful manager/wardens
After a very congested journey a warm and friendly welcome from the lady booking us in. As we arrived later than planned only a couple of pitches were left, although told we could move in the morning as she had quite a few leaving. The facilities were kept immaculate throughout despite being busy over the weekend. It’s a great site, with the park and lakes a short walk away. Wildlife in abundance. I’d certainly return which is a recommendation for the site.
