Disappearing shrubs and plants

We have been very disappointed and saddened over the past couple of years to see the removal of so many bushes and shrubs from the site, not least for the loss of cover and habitat for birds and insects. This is exceedingly poor management and neglectful of the Club to allow this to happen.

Back again

We have used this site before as a stop over on our way to Dover. The facilities and location are "spot on". We travel with 2 Labradors and the proximity of the Nene Valley Park is superb it allow us to let the dogs have a run to burn off some energy. Will definitely use this site again, as either a stop over or a longer stay.

Great site right on top of Ferry Meadows

Good site, grass pitches large and right next to Ferry Meadows, which can be a bit noisy. Remember to pack the bug spray, we got eaten alive by the mosquitos! 😆

Great site

We have just returned from our yearly visit to Ferry Meadows and had a great time. The site was clean and tidy as always and the staff were great. There was a report of some bikes stolen but this was not the fault of the staff who are always patrolling the site. We come every year and have never experienced any problems regarding unwanted visitors. We shall definitely be back.

Time for a makeover and some parental re-education

Recently stayed at Ferry Meadows. We have been here a few times and always enjoy the visit. However, we were very surprised at how run down the site is starting to look now. I know some people have slated the wardens recently but to be honest I think its more to do with the lack of respect by visitors to the site. Although I understand there have been a few problems recently regarding the wardens I found them to be polite and trying thier best. This is a large site when both sides are open and it seemed to me that the wardens are having a tough time keeping up with the work load. The Toilet block on the B side was dirty most of the day with wet floors where people don't clean up after themselves. Toilets were full of mess where they hadn't been flushed or cleaned after use even though brushes are provided as are floor mops. The wash up area was disgusting with food waste being left in the drains and all over the floors. One of the sinks didn't work at all, seemingly the taps were broken. The grassed area was being cut when we arrived but because of the warm weather and heavy rain the grass was growing faster than the wardens could keep up with it. The dog bin near the gate was left full to overflowing for about 4 days with no sign that anyone was going to empty it. Overall the site is in a lovely location but the toilet block is old and tired and needs renovating. The wardens could also do with more help during the summer months and the visitors in general need a bit of an education in parental control and cleanliness. I bet they don't leave thier own homes in the state they left the washup and toilet facilities.

Great stay here

This was my first ever caravan trip after me and my partner recently purchased a caravan. Had a great time, its a busy site but there are plenty of places to go for a country walk or pitches available for a bit of peace. The staff where great, I realised that we didn't have any mugs and the warden on reception was kind enough to lend me one for a morning coffee until I was able to go to the Tesco to buy some. The WiFi is to be desired and rather costly, surprisingly in 2019, the club doesn't seem to offer free WiFi, which would be a welcome addition as these sites aren't cheap. Also overheard a conversation about theft over the weekend but hopefully the site will look to improve security. Other than that this site is a brilliant place for a break with plenty of things to do to entertain everyone and will be visiting again.

Be warned!

A word of warning if intending to visit this site! During the day the site is perfect for families. However, that can't be said during the hours of darkness. Woke up at 03:30 by a group of yobs in the country park directly behind our caravan. Thought nothing too much of it at the time but woke up later on to find my carrera fury bike had gone (locked to caravan wheel) with the lock on the floor which had been cut through. Reported it to wardens who confirmed that at least 6 others had also been stolen during the night and a large number of masked youths had been seen in and around the site. Decided not to stay another night due to safety concerns but wasn't allowed a nights refund as the warden didn't have the authority to do that. He advised me to contact the club on monday . Discretion should have been used under the circumstances?. The biggest fear for me though was that masked youths can happily roam the site stealing bikes at will. What would have happen had my wife disturbed them had she wanted to visit the toilet block at the time doesn't bear thinking about and the site has a responsibility for the welfare and safety of its visitors. That was sadly lacking last night though and I for one will never visit Ferry Meadows ever again as I value the safety of my family above all else. Think very seriously before visiting this site!

Comment from the Club:

Thank you for your review. This sort of incident is an unusual occurrence at this site and for this to have happened at all, the Club is very sorry.  The site team is working in conjunction with the local Police team and will be putting further security in place for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.

Excellent site (apart from erratic, costly wi-fi) - we will be back

We stayed on the site for a week and it was an excellent experience. All the high qualities you would expect from a C&M site were there with very friendly and helpful wardens. And Ferry Meadows (which the site sits in) is a huges stunning lake on the River Nene with cycle and walking tracks, plenty of playgrounds for kids and restaurant and a coffee bar. You can also go sailing on the lake and boating on the Nene. There is a good walk into Peterborough (45mins) and you can get the Nene Railway back to the site. The only downside was the erratic and slow pay as you go wifi. We paid for a week @ £10 each but ended up using the data on our mobile phones as it was faster.

Happy Days

After reading such negative reviews I feel compelled to set the record straight. I have been here with my family on a seasonal pitch and I can honestly say that the site has been one of the best I have come across. Alan and his team have been exceptional and have acted fair and professional at all times. They patrol regularly and always pass the time of day in a pleasant and jovial manner, which we find very endearing. I would have no hesitation in recommending this site to anyone. I see them check the play equipment and that makes me as a parent feel reasured knowing my children are safe. The facilities are second to none and the reception area is a fun and helpful environment and the team are so approachable telling us about the local amenities. Fantastic DVD collection and I must say if your children are happy-us as parents are happy! Happy days! Happy holidays. Enjoy this beautiful and well cared for site.

Why is negative reviews of wardens being removed

Why are mine and others negative reviews of the wardens at Ferry Meadows are being removed? I’m sorry but the whole purposes of a review good or bad is just that, good or bad. You as the CAMC obviously have an issue with the wardens on this site and their poor customer service, so why are you not dealing with this issue? What the CAMC have to realise and if it’s to survive, is that the club has to move forward and adopt a more inclusive customer base. This review will be removed by the club, but before it’s removed the club needs to take a long hat look at itself as it’s an outdated dinosaur

Comment from the Club:

Please be assured negative comments are not removed from reviews. We only remove reviews if they contravene our community guidelines and you will see from reviews on the Club website which may well have criticisms or negative feedback, that we always try and address concerns raised rather than remove. However as mentioned we will remove reviews if they contravene our Community Guidelines. For example, some of the reasons why a review may be removed is if it is offensive to staff as we have a duty of care to our staff, could be potentially libellous, the reviewer has not stayed on the site or if the review is not actually a review i.e. such as this post. We will be removing this post in the next few days as it is not a review of the site but we wanted to advise why a review would be removed and reassure you that we always try and address concerns raised and appreciate feedback from our members. Please also note some other reviews have been removed as again they are not a review of the site but posts.
