Thank You to the team at Ferry Meadows

This will be our sixth visit to Ferry Meadows Caravanning and Camping Site, for us it’s a place where we can escape and hide, from our very hectic day to day life’s. The site is excellent for everyone especially dog owners, as the site is located next to Ferry Meadows Country Park, which offers ample space to walk the dogs. The site has always been maintained well and is very clean and tidy, this is truly a credit to the Wardens and their Assistants. We have found the Wardens and their Assistants very approachable and have taken their advice with helpful hints and tips on setting up our pitch, for that alone we thank you. We don’t normally write reviews but we felt that it was a good way to say thank you to the Wardens and their Assistance, for all the hard work that they do on site which in turn helps us relax, and unwind. Well done, everyone and Thank You Amanda and Tony Wall, and of course the Border Terriers Obi, Conie and Rosie.

Bank Holiday Weekend

Stayed for three nights over the May Day weekend with two grandchildren. Although the site was full, everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. Lovely pitches set into the park environment with plenty of trees. Even with lots of children around, the site was still peaceful. Lovely play area for the kids, and the adjacent country park is brilliant for children. Overall the site is a credit to both the club and the wardens on site.

Truckfest weekend

We stayed here while we attended the Truckfest weekend. Lovely clean site and well run. It was very busy and had to go round the site twice before we found a pitch. We were on the side of the play park which I thought was going to be noisy with kids but it was fine. There's a nice walk to a lovely lake near the site and the other way is a pub called The windmill about 15 minutes walk. I would stay here again if I was visiting Peterborough.

Top quality site

Lovely site in superb location.Cannot understand comments regarding staff as we found them all to be very friendly & efficient! The Head Warden Alan was especially pleasant & in my opinion runs the site superbly. I feel some members go out of their way to look for problems & need to recognise that the rules are voted for by the membership and that the team need to implement them. Our experience has been that they implement them in a friendly manner. We cannot wait for our next visit!

Lovely site, shame about the head warden

We do like it at Ferry Meadows, and Easter saw our 3rd visit there in the last 12 months. it's clean, well kept, in a great position, has fabulous walks all around it and a wonderful team that look after the site. What a shame the head warden is such a passive aggressive bully... Over the weekend I seen him upset 4 different sets of guests, One chap had to pull his caravan's tow hitch 2ft to one side to be in line, one father was told off for playing with his son's sponge ball, another for allowing their dog too much static lead despite the dog being asleep under the caravan. Each of which he was technically right about (clever bully) but a totally over the top interaction to each set of people who were keeping themselves to themselves and not bothering anyone else. I fully appreciate there must be rules to make the environment pleasant for all but the overzealous use of authority by this chap spoils the whole experience. (Though I think it makes the warden an inch taller every time he finds another perpetrator on his rounds) Would I go again or advise you to go with your family? yes I would, but be prepared to accept being spoken to like you are a 5 year old moron and you'll enjoy every moment... On a more serious note, it is lovely there and we highly recommended a visit

Fantastic site let down by staff attitude

We stayed here over the Easter Bank Holiday and upon arrival the place looked clean and surrounding areas were very tranquil. This was my first time on a club site and have to say the greeting from the people in reception was not very warm, in fact a bit of customer service training would not go a miss! Very structured with no smiles at all! We had two dogs with us which we were told we would need to take off site to toilet them, fair enough I understand that. But when you have a puppy who needs to go quite quickly that is not always possible. I was cleaning up straight away after one toilet break only to be told off with a pointed finger which made me feel like a child being told off by the headmistress. Over the weekend I heard this particular employee speaking to people not very nicely so each time we went past the wardens office we tiptoed just in case!! Apart from this Nene Park and the railway was absolutely amazing helped along by the glorious weather. Lots of walks and things for the kids to do. A short walk away is a Beefeater Pub so everything you need is within walking distance. Staff Training Required!

Second visit just as good as the first!

Enjoyed our second visit here last weekend Love the fact that we don’t have to use the car during our stay - walked into Peterborough and back enjoying the walk along the river/ countryside Had a lovely walk around ferry meadows country park next door and then walked to one of the nearby pubs Toilet and showers all sparkling clean, wardens all pleasant and knowledgeable. When we came last time the site over the road wasn’t open as it was out of season but although we still stayed on the site where reception is we walked round the other part and thought how nice it looked. Will certainly be returning!

Cracking Site

Just spent 3 nights on this cracking site. From the warm efficient arrival by the wardens to location and facilities everything was just right. The location is superb for walking and cycling. We walked into Peterborough and got the train back. Wasn't too much hassle to visit Rutland water and Burghley house at Stamford. We thought that our stay was real value for money and will visit again

Always a pleasure

I've stayed on this site a few times but never this early in the year. The site was still well maintained and the wardens were friendly and helpful. I arrived about 6 minutes early and was allowed straight into the waiting area. There were already two motorhomes in front of me so maybe they have taken notice of previous reviews. If you've travelled some distance on busy roads it can be difficult to plan your journey to arrive at exactly 12 o'clock! The site was fairly quiet considering it was the Easter holidays and I was able to park next to family members who had arrive the day before. Unfortunately the weather was cold and wet for some of our stay so we took refuge in the cinema in Peterborough. We didn't fancy eating in the cinema so we walked across the retail park to Pizza Hut - big mistake. It made the cinema cafe seem tasteful, calm and serene. If we ever use that cinema again we will eat in the van beforehand. Cinema seats are excellent though. As always an enjoyable couple of days.

Excellent site

We have stayed here several times and always enjoy the location, the cleanliness of the shower block and the site in general, together with the facilities that are close by. The Wardens do a sterling job (but see below for a slight concern - our first and hopefully last). The double barrier has been mentioned in a previous review and I have to say that our view is that this is a good thing, given the volume of general traffic that exists back and forth to the country park. It gives us a more secure feeling. We also haven't had a problem with either the train or youngsters. Perhaps we've just tuned out the sounds? We have a dog, which we walk out to the park and back on a 1 metre lead. Returning from one (long) walk our dog pooped in the grass/small trees alongside the roadway as I approached our caravan - not on, or even near a pitch. I stopped, bagged the poop, returned to put it in the poop bin and carried on. On visiting the office a short time later I was chastised for this action, with an explanation that some owners let their dogs go anywhere - even on others' pitches. I was completely taken aback at the female warden's words and tone. I can't (even now after much reflection) understand why I should have been singled out and quite what I should have done differently. I was both embarrassed and confused by the continued stance. We are very responsible dog owners and should not be lumped in with any that aren't. Despite this, and although this has left a lingering bad taste, it won't stop us visiting again.
