One of my favourite sites

We have just returned from staying for 18 nights. When we arrived it was very busy and unfortunately couldn't get on our usual side of the site. However the two pitches we found on the west side were fab and spacious. The only issue I had was children running through pitches....I say children but the parents did this also from several caravans around us. We seemed to think that pitch boundaries or should I say just peoples awareness of other peoples things went out the window on that side. The covid 19 measures where all in place just a shame again some teenagers didn't think the wristbands at the toilets applied to them. There were a set number of toilets and showers available and also sinks to use. Hand sanitiser outside each door also. There was also extra cleaning due to the regulations. Alan the site warden is a friendly bloke and despite us only turning up once every year and him meeting and greeting 1000s he still remembers you and greets you with a friendly hello. We have never had any issues with Alan. If he does have an issue with someone he will let them no but no different to how he would deal with anyone else. For example: We were asked to move the windbreak due to it being to close to my car from my parents caravan for fire safety. We were happy to move it no issues there. I have heard others have had issues with Alan but he is fair with everyone. I know he asked someone to move their caravan due to it being the wrong side of the peg and just received a lot of chew... rules are there for a reason. Another someone dumped a car in the trees in the shade rather than on their pitch or in the car park. Alan found them spoke to them no issues they moved it granted they drove the wrong way but quickly u-turned and parked it up. Alan has also previously worked on the site with my dog who is very nervous and reactive to strangers and dogs he would never harm a dog on the site ever when we first met Alan he was still training them. He even remembered this when he saw us again and kept his distance to allow my dog to settle when he was stood talking to us. Its a real shame that Alan and his wife have dealt with crap from people as they arw only there to maintain the site, its rules etc. Shame they will be retiring this year.

Fantastic site with fantastic wardens

This is one of the best sites we visit love coming here Alan & Dee the main wardens our a lovely couple, they know their job well You can have a bit of banter and a laugh with them all. The reviews people have put on here about them is out of order they greet you with a smile and treat you well if you get on the wrong side of Alan because you have ignored what he has told you you can expect him to be cross. As for mistreatment of dogs he is one of many people l know who adores dogs he would never hurt one like what’s been said that’s not Alan at all, he is a gentle giant. Alan and his workers have worked hard on this site to get things done a lot better than it was a few years ago. We think it’s about time the C&MHC started standing up for their wardens they get so much abuse over time yet they are the ones that get slated and cant reply to bad reviews which is wrong. Keep the good work up all you wardens at Ferry Meadows Camp site Carol & Brian

Great Location

Just spent 3 nights here. It’s in a great location, out of the gate, one way to the country park with loads of activities and the other way takes you to the Nene Valley Railway and more. Will definitely be back as so much more to do here. The band system was working well and we felt very safe whilst here. It’s a very popular site so very busy, all credit to the hard working wardens who keep things running smoothly.

One of our Favourites

We have been coming to Ferry Meadows for nearly 20yrs now the reason is you can do all the things that make a holiday for us, cycling, golf, walking and a bit of retail therapy in the city centre. We have seen wardens come and go all have been good but the current set are excellent. We visit the site at least twice a year and the welcome we receive is always friendly, since the current set of Wardens have been at site they have worked so hard on the ground work to bring the site back up to its current excellent standards. The pitches and the surrounding areas are all flat, neat and the grass cut , the toilets are some of the best we have seen although some members do astonish me why in these current times (covid) would you want to pooh in a shower because all the toilets are being used not once but twice I saw that occur and the poor warden has to clean it up they do work hard to keep a good site for their members and have to put up with alot from some members who can be difficult. We will be returning again and again to Ferry Meadows it ticks all the boxes for us as a couple pensionagers.đź‘Ť

Good site shame about the wardens

Have visited this site several times before and cannot fault the location, the facilities and walks around Nene park are excellent. The CAMC site is essentially good but is spoilt by the Wardens. We agree with previous comments about the warden being a tyrant and dictator, we have had our dog taken from us and pushed to the ground as an unwanted training exercise. On arrival the check in had changed from the CAMC guidelines, additional information on arrival said no visitors which is a bit late when plans had been made, this should have been on CAMC website. Also no deliveries allowed despite CAMC website indicating it was possible. Covid 19 actions were a bit harsh, no hand washing facilities despite government guidelines and no urinals open. The wardens made 6 or 7 inspection visits around the vans every day looking to find something out of place and endorse their authority. The head warden told us on arrival the site couldn't run without him, come on CAMC prove him wrong!

Beautiful site

This is a beautiful site in beautiful surroundings ie the country park, perfect for dog walkers, joggers, cyclists and children. However the one downside is on arrival if you are a little early maybe 15 mins then you are told to turn round (in the site, through the barriers) and go back on the road and head for a lay-by 5 mins away! The fact is there is plenty of room in the site prior to reception to allow possibly 5 motorhomes or caravans to wait off the road. We did as we were told with difficulty as the lay by was full. We sat, hoping that no one would want to get past us and at the allotted time made our way back to the site gate where there were now At least 4vehicles in front booking in! We weren’t hoping to book in any earlier than specified, 12 noon but surely waiting In The site is preferable to sitting outside either in a lay-by or on a fairly busy road. Rather spoilt our arrival especially as it was the hottest day of the year (in the thirties) and we had two dogs in the van getting considerably hot. A little thought would go a long way. Otherwise a lovely place to stay.

Great Site

The site was situated perfectly for the purpose of our visit which was dog walking and relaxation. Hard standing pitch, clean and tidy toilets and showers and a most convenient service point. The wardens were friendly and helpful and the lovely Ferry Meadows country park is right next door. The site was easy to find as well. Really hope to visit again so that we can explore the park a bit more will I return it has got to be a yes as this a lovely quiet site with plenty do around the Nene park, walks, lakes, canal walk, Steam railway line, pub, and even a fresh herb box outside reception for people to use, even a garden centre thrown in just up the road. The pitches are very generous and very well kept. The staff are very helpful and will do that bit extra for you. Well done Ferry Meadows.  Thankyou especially to the warden who gave me some helpful tips on how to put our awning up as we have been struggling with this since we bought it. Thankyou thankyou thankyou

Our annual trip to Ferry Meadows

We arrived at Ferry Meadows Sunday 19 July and it was very busy. We selected a pitch on the east side on grass as we usually do. We were very apprehensive due to the coronavirus and decided we would use our own facilities in the caravan, apart from the odd occasion to use the toilet. There was a system in operation at the shower facilities such as bands on entry and sanitizer soap dispensers outside but we felt safer using our own facilities. A lot of people were ignoring social distancing and not wearing masks. There was no queuing at the service point but you need to take your own sanitising soap. The Ferry Meadows park was not very safe as too many people and no social distancing . The wardens do a great job.

A great site on the edge of a huge country park.

Ferry Meadows is a large site covering 2 areas. The area behind the reception is mostly hard standing pitches which are well spaced. The area on the opposite side of the road is mostly level grass pitches. All areas are very well maintained. We found all staff very pleasant and friendly but they won't allow any abusing of the rules. Good management is essential when there can be up to 1000 people on site at busy times, so behave yourselves and you won't experience the wrath of the warden. There are health & safety precautions at the shower/toilet blocks but nothing at the service points although by now everyone should know what they should be doing with regards to Covid-19 personal protection. There is an ice cream van that drives around the sites every evening and a fish & chip van that visits the site on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday evenings. The site is on the edge of the huge Nene Country Park with its lovely lakeside walks and activities, and its cafe's and gift shop. If you arrive at 12.00 expect to be queueing to get onto site. There is no dog walk on the reception side, but there is a small dog walk area on the other site and plenty of places to exercise your furry friends on the road outside the site and of course in Nene park itself. This is not the most secure site on the network so ensure that your cycles are well secured as there were cycle thefts from the site overnight during the week that we were there.
