Good Location and Facilities

Stayed in June 2021 and enjoyed the site. As others have mentioned, the WiFi and 4G coverage are pretty poor. We also arrived quite late and there was not much room left. West side was already full and we had to drive around a couple of times to find space on the East side. We then had to squeeze in under the trees and actually straddle two pitches to stop our quite long unit blocking the way through for other vehicles. Wardens mentioned it but were understanding and let us stay where we were. Would still recommend, but probably best to get there early if you want the pick of the pitches.

Ferry Meadows site not well maintained since previous wardens left

Very disappointed on arrival at Ferry Meadows this year as we arrived at 1:15 and already vehicles had been booked in from 12 when booking in should be after 1pm. Booked in and looked for a pitch only to fined in the grass area where we wanted pitch the grass had not been cut and it was like walking in a field. Really gone down hill since last year. For £30 we expected all facilities to be up to standard but really the Caravan Club cannot justify the cost on sub standard facilities. The wardens last year were really good at keeping the site up to standard.

great other than the wifi

Excellent site in all respects EXCEPT WIFI and 4G reception which is absolutely awful. I complained to the staff about the constant wifi dropouts and being unable to connect most of the time and was told its always unpredictable and I should call Air Angel. Frankly that's not good enough and the staff should be calling Air Angel as my contract is with the Club not their suppliers. Other than that its a great site with good facilities and superb walking and biking trails although closing the shower block from 10-12 is a bit early I would say.

Great Site but avoid paying for the Wifi - its a waste of money

Me & my partner both purchased the WIFI @ £11 per week, but it very rarely worked so I would say do not bother At the moment they are also closing the showers/toilets block between 10-12 which I found quite inconvenient, you are on holiday & don't want to be getting up early or rushing for a shower....

Good base for exploring the area

Ferry Meadows is a large site separated by a road into 2 distinct areas. The West side is mainly hardstanding, set out in standard Club fashion. The East side is predominantly grass, arranged in a number of glades with generous sized pitches. Some of these have sunk with years of use and can be prone to flooding during heavy downpours. There is a booster system for tv, but this did not work on the bollard next to our pitch and looked like it had been broken for some time. The grass was quite long and we didn’t see any being cut during our stay. Also one of the staff chose Sunday morning when the site was packed to spray weedkiller around behind some of the units. As with most sites now the earliest arrival time is stated as being 1300 but we saw units arriving, often before 1200 and being allowed onto site. Access from the A1 is easy. We did not use the toilet facilities as they were limited due to covid. The now pretty standard (on club sites) system of using wrist bands was in place. However during our stay, particularly over the weekend people chose to ignore this. The site is right next to Nene Park and close to the river so campers are spoilt for choice when it comes to walking. With rabbits and squirrels running everywhere it’s doggie heaven. Peterborough is an hours leisurely stroll with it’s magnificent cathedral. There is a Tesco express within 20 minutes walk along traffic free paths. For walkers, dog owners, cyclists or anyone just wanting to relax in pleasant surroundings this site makes a good base for both short breaks or a longer holiday.

Ideal for Peace and Quiet

We have just spent 8 days caravanning here. The site was busy but there was ample room for all. The site was well laid out, with both hard standing and grass pitches. The staff were very friendly, helpful and made you feel welcomed. Several times a day the site service points were cleaned to, an extremely high standard. The pitch we where on was on the west side in the 70s. It was peaceful and quiet the only thing that disturbed the quiet was the wildlife. If you like watching woods with nature pouring out that is what you will find. You can walk into the nearby park with its lakes and Cafes. Yes, we will go back again.

First night motorhoming

This was our very first site for our very first time in a motorhome. Would have been nice to have had some basic instructions for the electric hook up but a member of staff came and checked on us after we called the site office who helped us. All in all we thought it was a lovely site, mainly peaceful although we could hear some noise from people in the evening, not sure if they were on or off site. Grey water drain facility was a bit fiddly for first timers but we managed. We only stayed one night as a halfway point and wished we could have had longer to explore Nene Park as it sounded lovely. Our favourite aspect was all the cycle routes on the doorstep, one of which took us to and from The Gordon Arms where we had a nice meal.

So peaceful

This was our 3rd stay at Ferry Meadows and once again it was extremely quiet and peaceful. Staff are friendly and helpful and facilities are very clean. My only gripe is that some of the shrubs are overgrown at the electricity plug in bollards with nettles growing through the fences. My husband received two really nasty bites from whatever was lurking in the over growth, so take care when connecting the mains. It is also worth checking how many people are actually in the toilet/shower blocks when all 5 bands are hanging up outside as more often than not people have forgotten to return the band to the bucket when leaving the block.

Spotlessly clean well laid out site

We had a lovely 4 nights at Ferry Meadows. the site is very well maintained with all the showers and facilities spotlessly clean. we are used to this standard from the Caravan and Motorhome club but it was the first time our son and wife had stayed on one of the sites and they were so impressed they are going to join! we had specifically gone for the fishing, which sadly was a disaster. over the 3 days on a couple of bream to show for it, but it was enjoyable, the weather was sublime and we had a great break, so much nicer than being stuck at home. The pitches are all so well spaced that we virtually spent the whole time on our own and not having to wear a mask, such a novelty. the ice cream man comes around every evening which is a welcome treat and i understand at the weekend there is fish and chips but we were not there for that. the country park is joined to campsite so the walks for our dogs were endless. there are so many activites available within the country park for children and adults too. we will go back again and i strongly recommend it.

Our First Trip

A lovely first trip away. Check in very efficient and friendly. Brilliant flat pitch with good neighbours for our stay. Toilet facilities very well organised with band system in operation. Showers good. Our dog enjoyed the many varied walks in the adjacent country park. Unfortunately we didn't get to sample the Fish and chips as the chip van had apparently burned down the week before our arrival. However, we did get to sample the ice cream from the ice cream van which visited each night. A reasonable walk to a Tesco Express. We visited the Peterborough Motorhome Show during out stay and the site wardens kindly loaned us a cone to reserve our pitch when we were out for the day. We shall return.
