In common with other C&MC sites generally worked well, and is well located, but some frustrations ...
COVID restrictions in the toilet blocks excessive (in my opinion and compared with other non C&MC sites)
For first timers to this very large site, finding a suitable pitch is tricky ... beware
Cracking 3 weeks
This was our second visit to Ferry Meadows and we weren’t disappointed.
We had a lovely pitch on the “quieter side” and most days took our bikes into the park and surrounding areas, there are multiple paths suitable for all ages and abilities.
Our daughter stayed for 2 nights and used the new cycle hire scheme being trialled at a few sites, she found it fairly easy to use and it was great that she could join us on our bike rides.
During the second week we were joined by our grandaughter aged 6 so we took a trip to the Lido, it’s heated and you are welcome to take chairs and a picnic. There is a car park next to it so easy to access.
The Granary Beefeater pub is a few mins walk, the food though typical pub grub was very good.
I only have 3 complaints, the first is the Ice cream van, why oh why is he allowed to visit the site at all during these times and again why so late!
The second, recycling, I do this religiously at home, and felt upset having to put everything into one bin.
Thirdly, visitors, we arranged to meet friends at the local pub or in the park but 2 Caravans near us thought it ok to celebrate a birthday with ALL the family, totalling 15 to 20 people.
When I spoke to the wardens I was told they had paid for 3 extra to stay!! Perhaps this is the way to deflect attention when visitors arrive.
All in all we had a lovely time, the weather eventually, was great, the wardens as usual were friendly and we’ve booked for next year.
Great stay, brilliant for families, would gladly visit again.
Really nice site, very helpful wardens who were very accomodating when I was arriving later in the evening. The site was well kept and had plenty for the children to do. We visited in the half-term holidays and the weather was perfect, so the site was very busy. However, despite the busy nature of the site, we did not feel cramped. We visited the local country park most days, well worth the visit and plenty to do there, including water sports and cycle hire. Cannot wait to visit again.
Great site but cleanliness of toilets standard due to covid restrictions poor
Great site which is a regular of ours. Just returned from half-term and the site was packed. To help prevent covid spread only three male toilets were in use with still the same number of people using them. There seemed to be no increase in the regularity with which these toilets were cleaned despite the huge increase that this produced in the three open ones. No extra toilet paper was provided for these cubicles so there was rarely any and we had to always bring our own. Drains were also blocked which also backed up to these three. A less than satisfactory experience in what is usually a terrific site.
Great place loads to do.
Just got back from an extremely enjoyable week at the site. I have only one gripe. Why on earth is Franks Ices allowed on site so late at night. Getting a toddler to sleep is bad enough in itself, but do we really need the constant blaring of Washington Post past our pitch at up to 9.10pm, when ice cream chimes are barred after 7pm on roads. And I have to ask if visitors are prohibited from site, why is this man who will have been in contact with many many people whilst plying his trade, allowed to put us all at risk from spreading COVID in what is supposedly a COVID safe environment?? Just asking!
Excellent site for everyone in a superb location
The site is located on the edge of a large country park with excellent facilities for nature lovers
There are lots of activities for everyone including playground, cycle routes, walkers and runners
Hard standing pitch was level and has easy access
The only thing that you will be disturbed by here is the birds and geese
A regular weekend getaway
We are very frequent visitors to this site as it is only 45mins away from home. Arrived on the Friday of the may bank holiday and the new wardens were very well organised for the large number of new arrivals due that day. We used our own facilities but I know the site ones are excellent. You have lots to do in the area unfortunately the steam train is not running yet. The city of Peterborough is close by and can be accessed on foot along the cycle path about an hour max or by the local x4 which you can catch near by. The cuckoo at alwalton is a nice pub and so too is the windmill. Ferry meadows park is on the doorstep and is a great place for walking it also has a kitchen bar at the far end over looking one of the lakes

Lovely site
Once again a good stay here especially as weather was superb and site was very empty on the East side. Only down side this time was, unusually, quite unfriendly staff at check in with conflicting instructions and unsmiling check-in. Very unusual for any CC site we have found.
Love the walks around the park and the walk into the city centre. Can highly recommend Charters and East at the end of the path along the river. (Don't turn to go over the bridge just before the rail bridge but keep going to the main city river bridge.) Charters serve excellent real ales and ciders and East serve wonderful Asian food.

Quiet and relaxing
My husband and I stayed here this weekend for 2 nights with our dog. The site is situated next to Nene Park, lovely area for children. A bit busy for us as we like quiet walks but this did not reflect on the site.
The site was peaceful and relaxing. The staff were very friendly and kept the site and facilities very clean.
First Time At Our Local Club Site
This our first visit to the Ferry Meadows Club Site which is very local to where we live.
The site is located in a woodland area right next to the Ferry Meadows Country Park. The site is kept to a very high standard and is very quiet and relaxing. The hard standing pitches on the West side are all pretty flat and easy to set up on. The East side has some hard standing pitches which again look flat and some grass pitches. The East side also has a play area for older children.
The wardens are very friendly and helpful and are available to help if you need it.
The site is also located near to the steam railway which can be heard from the park during the daytime which is a real treat if you are an enthusiast.
This is a lovely site that we will definitely be back to time and time again :)
