I'm not sure why so many negative reviews?

I stayed here for 2 weeks, absolutely lovely did a different walk everyday with the dog. Enjoyed the Cafe by the Lakeside. I did not hear any noise after 10pm, even from the surrounding areas. I'm a lone traveller so to feel safe is important, I did, yes its dark at night, but that's what a torch is for!!! There were loads of bikes on site all was well and nothing taken whilst I was there. I stayed on the West Side, and walked round both sides fully and all appeared well. I really don't know why people have been negative about this site.

First time at a CMC site.

First time using a CMC site. The site facilities were very clean but there was dog mess everywhere. (I’m a dog owner myself and my dog stayed with us). This isn’t the fault of the site, but more the fault of the people staying there. I’ve stayed at many private and other club sites and have never seen problems with guests cleaning up after their dogs, just seems to be this site. The location was Ok, not much to do or see nearby. We stayed over a weekend and it’s a noisy site with loud music from nearby venues and the traffic noise from nearby roads was loud. A bonus was that an ice cream van came to the site each night. The pitch sizes were off a good size.

A little disappointed

We decided to go to Ferrymeadows this September- it was 6 years since we had been there. Not sure we’ll go again. Although the site is open all year the site office had very little in the way of provisions. Certainly no ice cream! Although it is described as having ‘silver wifi’ it was very unsatisfactory and the majority of the time was non existent. I asked the warden if there was a problem and his reply was”it’s always like this complain to the club”. Entry to the washrooms was by a code - the keys on the ladies were so stiff you needed iron fingers also having to constantly touch a keypad isn’t particularly COVID friendly plus the sanitiser dispensers on the wall outside were empty. There were no lights at the side of the road ways to light the way to the toilet block. Basically the whole site could do with a bit of TLC

Confused

We arrived on Sunday 5th sep for five nights the web site showed the site was going to be full for the first two nights so expected difficulty finding a good pitch. Surprised when driving round the site it was half empty and didn’t fill up either on the Sunday or the Monday nights. Can someone explain why the site is showing full when it was only half full stopping other members from booking. This is not the first time we have come across this. Who is marking sites as full when they are not ? One of our favourite sites , excellent for walking the dog, but it is not acceptable to stop members booking a pitch when there are dozens available.

Do not take a bicycle here. It will get stolen

First and last time at this site. Very busy on both sides with kids and old folks equally noisy till late. Second to last night we had an attempt at stealing our bikes from next to the van. Only because I had fitted four different locks did it stop them. Site staff were not bothered that thieves come on site with bolt cutters to steal bikes. They just commented that another bike had been stolen that day too. No security in place for a site that has a major security problem.

Fantastic location and great warden team well worth a visit

We've been to Ferry Meadows many times over the last few years as all of the pitch's (especially on the west side) are surrounded by trees and open space, it's next to the lakes with great walks for the dogs and very easy to get to from the A1M. The big change this year is the managing warden has gone! it's now a much calmer more pleasant place with a much better atmosphere, was genuinely a joyous few days not being woken up every morning at 8am to the sound of a sit on lawn mowers or whatever machinery the warden was using to patrol the site. The team fo wardens looked to be much happier and this of course was very much appreciated by everyone we spoke to over the week. The grounds are well manicured and the washrooms immaculately clean so highly recommend a visit

Stay 1st to 8th August

My wife and I stayed for a week on the "adult" side with a pitch near the facilities, thank you wardens for arranging this as we both suffer with painful knees. The site is clean and the facilities spotless. We think the wardens are really friendly, we don't sit in their pockets and neither do they ours but there was always a cheery wave and a word as they passed. What's not to like. We don't usually visit busy sites like this in school holidays but can say that we had a peaceful time and found lots of people to chat with without being surrounded by children shouting, that's why we like the "adult" side which, although there are children, is generally quieter. I can honestly say that Ferry Meadows has always been one of our favourite sites with a local park for walks, places to visit nearby and a clean and relatively tidy place to stay. Easy to recommend.

Disappointed

This was the first time at a club site rather than a CL. I was staying with a motor home and some friends with their caravan. The site staff were certainly not going the extra mile. The staff explained nothing on arrival and were very short in their initial dealing with people. Whilst instructions on setting up rules were given amongst some papers no one pointed out that they were there despite us stating that this was our first stay on a club site. We were asked in no uncertain terms to rearrange things which we did. We witnessed three other new arrivals in a small area set up and then be forced to rearrange. People are not doing this on purpose as the staff seem to assume. If things were pointed out people would do as asked but after long journeys when people want to settle in the system is poor and the people running it could do with a lesson in customer care. No one was told that the electric plug has to be turned to engage it and we met at least four other couples who were at a loss- so easy to fix, speak to your customers or even put up clear signage. Recycling does not seem to be encouraged. On the positive there was very little litter and the water and chemical emptying points were well located. Overall this site is frustrating as with some staff training and a very small amount of effort it could be so much better.
