Access to Inverness and Surrounds

Friendly greeting on arrival and allowed to choose a pitch. Clean facilities . The one incident that left us a bit shaken was the use of an Air Rifle by somebody and the damage to our Webber BBQ, the wardens were advised of the incident and they questioned the two parties that could have been responsible. It did make our stay at this camp site a bit nerve racking, this was due to no fault of the wardens however.

Comment from the Club:

Thank you for your review. We would be happy to look at this incident with you if you would like to contact us directly via our Contact Us page. Many thanks.

Great site, hard working friendly Site Managers

We love this site, especially now the new Site Managers actually have pride in the place and want to make sure everyone that stays here has a great time. Seeing how the site had been neglected over the past couple of years was such a shame but things are definitely going in the right direction now with new Site Managers in situ. On arrival you are greeted by new signage and floral displays which show they have pride in their site and provide a warm welcome at the reception. Sarah is very rarely seen without a smile on her face and when booking in all the relevant rules regarding pitching etc are explained clearly and precisely. The site is very well maintained, the grass is kept short and is mown regularly. One of the tighter corners has been widened to allow slightly larger/longer outfits to manoeuvre it easier. Wooden tubs which were left rotten and empty have now been painted and planted with pretty summer plants and flowers. The amenities block is always spotless and well maintained and the unisex toilet means there is always a loo available even when the main facilities are closed for cleaning. The dustbins are emptied regularly throughout the day and Sarah and Jo always have time to stop, say hello and have a quick chat when working on site. Yes there is still work to be done but it all takes time and when a site is as busy as this one has been this year not everything can be done at once. But with Sarah and Jo's enthusiasm and commitment to the site I have no doubt it will soon again be one of the go to sites in this beautiful part of the world. Unfortunately being a site manager can be a thankless job and some visitors think it's ok to be abusive and rude, but remember the site managers are here to ensure you enjoy your stay, they only want to help and ensure you are kept safe while on site. All in all a great site in a perfect location and a joy to stay at, we love it.

Great location for the forest

Enjoyed a lovely short break here recently, I would highly recommend this site which is in a great location for day trips to the battlefield, Inverness, the Black Isle or Moray. The site is surrounded by beautiful unspoilt forests which are amazing for dog-walking and the site facilities are very good. However, as other users have previously mentioned, very few of the pitches are level.

Disappointing club site after 41 years of caravanning

Firstly this is a great location and is easy to find if you follow the instructions (DO NOT FOLLOW SATNAV). The forest for dog walking is excellent - probably the best we've ever seen. However the site is narrow and difficult to drive around, I just managed to drive our car and caravan (12.15m). While we were there I saw many twin axles mount the curbs as the site is so narrow. It feels as if it was designed a long time ago when caravans were 12ft. It would be easy to make the road wider and really this needs doing as soon as possible. We stayed here as part of a 3 week tour of Scotland and as a Caravan Club site expected to be able to use the washing machines and tumble driers for a well needed laundry pit stop. However the tumble drier wasn't working and with rain (as usual in Scotland) this was a big issue. When my wife spoke to the wardens, their flippant response was to drive 12 miles to a launderette. That's a 24 mile round trip to do the wash! They couldn't tell her when the machine would be repaired and frankly didn't seem to care. We didn't see the wardens smile on one occasion - which reminded me of the ex-army wardens in the 1980s. The pitch we had was not level at all - in 41 years of caravanning I've never seen the jockey wheel so low and we exhausted all of our wood chocks at the rear. Probably the most disappointing club site we've visited ever which is such a shame as its location for Inverness and all it has to offer is outstanding.

Great location. Fabulous Dog walks

Handy location for Loch Ness, Culloden battlefield & Clava Neolithic stones Direct access to forest and fabulous dog walks. Cleanliness excellent. Road noisy so arrive early to get a pitch at the back of the site. Very few truly level pitches but all well maintained. Strict on “club rules” Shops a short drive away towards Culloden village. Nice pub with good food half a mile on the main road towards inverness

1st Time Visit

We have Recently Had 2 Lovely Weeks at this Gem of a Site 29/5-13/6 . We have Visited Many sites up and Down the Country and Have to say this is by far the Best in terms of Location and Things to see and Do in the Area. We did something Different Everyday like Visits to Glen Affric , Loch Ness Cruises , Dolphins at Fort George🐬🐬 , The Black Isle , Nairn , and even had a Trip to John o Groats . We spotted Sea Eagles🦅 , Golden Eagles and Red Kites while out and about in the Endless Changing Scenery and Landscape on offer in and Around Culloden . The icecreams Not Bad either🍦🍦. Food wise the Culloden Moor Inn is 1 mile from the site and offers Traditional Pub Meals and the portion are substantial and Very Tasty . The Site itself is Looked after Superbly by the Very Friendly Wardens Joe and Sarah and Nothing was to much trouble . Unfortunately the Toilets and Shower block were Closed, but we knew about that before we went as I had a Phone call the week before off Joe explaining why the Toilets and Showers would be out of use, which I thought was very courteous and Professional, but we actually enjoyed using our own facilities and have realised that it's Not that Bad. Reading Previous Reviews about how the site had become Run down we didn't know what to Expect, we needn't have worried as when we Arrived all our Fears were Allayed . We had a Lovely Flat pitch overlooking the Hills and the Sun Shone 🌞☀😎 Throughout our Visit and at the End we didn't want to leave . We Hope You Enjoy it as Much as we Did ,as its everything you could wish for and more, especially when the Toilet block is up and running again . That Good we've Booked another Fortnight in September 🙌🙌 Can't Wait🤗

Excellent Site

We had yet another great visit here ! Only reason I gave four stars for facilities is because the toilet block was closed as the result of an unforseen requirement for maintenance. The site was tidy and very clean, the wardens are doing a great job . The welcome on arrival was friendly and helpful and the staff were working tirelessly in the bad weather maintaining the high standards we enjoy on Club sites. We had complete confidence in the Covid measures implemented and felt very safe. A great site and so handy for all the attractions in the Inverness, Black Isle, Loch Ness and Cairngorm areas. Our dog also loves the walks in the adjacent woodland.

Another great week

With COVID causing many issues, it was great to escape for a week for a break. The site is well situated for Inverness, Black Isle and the Moray coast, not to mention the many inland locations for walking and cycling. We have been many times and still look forward to returning.

Great location

Culloden has many features which allow members to have a great caravanning experience. Easy access to the west provides spectacular scenery whether cycling or walking with similar options to the east around Nairn and beyond. All essentials can be found in nearby Inverness. The site is generally quiet and slopes to the south with many pitches having views of the hills. The one way system is tedious and was meant to be an improvement when introduced - not really, as it adds to frustration as well as being time consuming to get out of the site. Hopefully The Club will rethink this one glaring weakness in an otherwise excellent site which has provided many enjoyable holidays over the past 30 years. The new Wardens, Joe and Sarah, were helpful, friendly, hard working and welcoming hosts who are keen to bring the site back to its former high standards.

A little bit of history

We had stayed here several years ago with a caravan and knew it to be a good base for visiting Inverness (botanical gardens not to be missed), This time we were in a motorhome so had investigated places we could walk to over our three day visit. Culloden battlefield is about a 20 minute walk along the road, (busy but with good pavement) from the site. The exhibition centre is well worth a visit before a stroll round the barren battlefield itself as it sets the scene well. Tired and hungry jacobites beaten by well fed and rested Hanoverians. If you don’t mind a walk down the nearby steep hill, a trip to the Clava cairns in the Nairn valley is also worth a visit. These ancient stone burial mounds have an interesting tale to tell. There is parking at both battlefield and cairns if you choose to drive. We had some Interesting neighbours whilst on site. Two oyster catchers had chosen to nest in the middle of one of the pitches. The wardens had thoughtfully roped them off, coned neighbouring pitches, and asked that humans didn’t get too close until the eggs had hatched and the chicks fledged
