Crystal Palace site is very well placed for central London with buses every ten minutes to Regent Street. The site staff are very helpful. Our request for a pitch near the toilet block was met as it has been when we've stayed before. The facilities are very clean and adequate with good level pitches. Well worth staying if a visit to London is desired.
We stayed at the site for 7 nights last week and had a great time with the site being well placed for visiting London. Bus number 3 was great and met all our transport needs, a short 10 min walk to the bus stop from the site which takes you into the centre and Piccadilly Circus. Buses were very frequent and we paid £3 for the return trip each using contactless payment cards. Shops and restaurants in Crystal Palace itself were very good too and the recommended Italian was fantastic.
Site staff were very friendly and helpful, pitch allocated when we arrived which worked well, and shower/toilet block was clean and tidy although getting a little tired and warn but this may be due to reduced spend as I think there is uncertainty re retaining the site lease over the coming years.
We really enjoyed our stay and I hope the Caravan Club can hang onto the site as its a great way for members and families to visit our capital city.
We stayed on the park for five nights, it was ideal for visiting the capital. The bus staton was five to ten minutes walk from the park , buses were frequent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Shower block clean and tidy . Enjoyed our stay will visit the park again .
This was our third trip to this site, we love the access it gives us to central London. As always the site and toilet block were excellent, however we decided to use the caravan club WiFi. I paid the £10 for a 7 day pass and logged on. We were about 15m from one of the wifi aerials so signal strength was spot on but the download speeds seemed slow. I checked with two different checkers to discover I was downloading at 0.3 Mbps and uploading at 0.01mbps. When I checked with the wardens I was told the best I could expect was 1mbps but if someone was downloading a film it would be less. They advised me to contact their supplier direct. I did so the following day and an engineer would look into it and get back to me. During our stay it never improved taking at times 20 minuets to download one page. I won't be wasting my money again with the wifi but will be staying at this beautiful site again
We stayed here for a week at the beginning of October. Site was easy to find, I programmed the instructions on line into my sat nav and had no problems apart from the traffic!! The wardens were friendly and helpful on arrival and we were sited and plugged in in no time.
Facilities are a bit tired but are kept clean and we have no complaints, plenty of hot water and showers were great. What makes this site is it's location. The no 3 bus service to Oxford Circus is absolutely brilliant, every 10 minutes or so and into the city centre in around 50 minutes. Crystal Palace itself is great for restaurants, cafes etc and is only 10 minutes walk from the site. We will definitely be back next year.
I love this site. Its great for visiting the city. Just 30 mins on the tube to Shoreditch so easy to get to Liverpool Street and west London if wish. The facilities are great, the walk into crystal palace is fine about 15mins. The overground train is easily accessible. Great restaurant in Crystal palace too, called The Sparrow Hawk and even takes dogs. I will definitely go again.
The minute I booked this site I felt as though I was not welcome, as I only booked for one night. I was told on the phone, you can't get on the site till 12 in a very firm voice. We arrived at 3pm in the afternoon booked in to be told must leave by noon the next day. We then asked if we left the pitch by noon could we park somewhere as we wouldn't be back til late afternoon. We were told no in another very firm voice but we could park in and around a neighboring park which was free. So we had to find a space for a motor home and leave it all day in a park. I felt as though we were intruding by staying on this campsite, realise that space is a premium in London, but they did have parking spaces but clearly not for us.
We stayed here for a week at the end of September, ideally placed for us visiting family and the city. There is a bit of aircraft noise in the morning but ear plugs sort that. It is nearly central London so some noise is to be expected no complaints, the staff were all excellent and very helpful and friendly, will be back early next year. Just hope the club manages to renew the lease in 2017 would be a shame to loose this site. The toilets and showers are spotless but very dated we can understand the club does not want to spend money until they know where they are going with this site.
Stayed here for two nights in October 2015. A word of warning - if you are coming from the north east (Blackwall tunnel) don't follow your satnav through Kidbrooke as there is a width restriction - oops! The site itself is a little quiet, calm, oasis in the middle of Crystal Palace. Although Crystal Palace station (on the London Overground as well as usual national rail service) was a little further to walk than I had anticipated, there are bus stops much closer so it is possible to get around quite late at night. The site itself is very clean and the facilities are good. The wardens were very helpful. Unfortunately there was a plumbing problem while I was there which meant I could not empty waste water etc. and it needed to be emptied.
We are back here again visiting and meeting up with family in London.
We always look forward to our visit to Crystal Palace as we can meet family and visit our favourite Italian restaurant nearby.
We can also go into central London easily on the bus and tube to do our hobby of Geocaching.
