Very convenient for a London visit

We live in France and stayed in our motorhome for two nights in mid-December, on a visit to see family. the site itself is very well laid out, and is next door to Crystal Palace Park. I imagine it would look absolutely beautiful in the summer months, and even in winter the trees and shrubs were very pretty, even if not at their best. The showers, toilets and laundry facilities were all excellent, and the pitch, although not precisely level, was very well situated. The site is ideal for a London visit, with several bus-routes on Crystal Palace Parade to visit all parts of south and central London. We were very satisfied with our choice and will definitely stay there again on our next visit to London.

Great location

My good lady wife booked this site for my birthday weekend as we had tickets for a show in London.  It is great for just getting on a bus 5 minutes walk from the entrance that takes you to loads of London locations.  We did Victoria palace on the day of arrival, out for a meal and safely back to the site on the buses that run every 10 minutes. The next day off to Greenwich for another great day out, again buses every 10 minutes.   The staff were GREAT, really friendly and very helpful. Facilities clean and tidy.  Large park next door, not that we had the dog with us for a city trip. Just walked into crystal palace for an evening meal on the second night, only a 30 minute stroll and there is a great selection of places to eat. Truly great location for an active city type break.

Were we really in the capital city ?

We decided to stay at Crystal Palace as we wanted to spend some time in London going to the theatre and seeing friends.  This was such a good decision! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The wardens were the usually friendly people we have come to expect at Caravan Club sites. The site was amazingly quiet and peaceful and we couldn't believe we were actually in the capital. We did not hear any aircraft noise as stated in other reviews and so must assume our 4 nights there were not under the flight path for that period. The best thing about the site from our point of view was the easy access to central London (Whitehall, Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus) to and from the site by the excellent No.3 bus service which is accessed just outside the entrance road and runs 24 hours a day - perfect. The journey is about an hour in the rush hour but less than 40 minutes late at night.  Finally the facilities are as good as any of the Caravan Club sites and we had no complaints at all I worry about giving such a glowing review as I intend to use the site more in the future and don't want it to be continuously fully booked ??

due for an update?

We have visited this site many times over the years, and it is an excellent location. Not easy to access from the west on the M25, but once there is relatively easy to go into central London, either by bus or overground trains. However, it really it time it was updated, and for a year round site to have the washing up facilities outside is simply not what should be available at what is still a premium priced site. Other than this, its a very useful site, though being under the main flightpath, plus the main TV transmitter aerial, it's not exactly Quiet and peaceful!

Made it to the World Tennis ATP at O2!

My daughters bought me tickets in April for a "big" birthday to ATP at O2 in Nov. After a 3hr traffic jam journey we arrived at CP and put kettle on. Then I discovered I had left O2 tickets at home. A call to my daughter confirmed that they were still on her computer file (after 7 months!) so e-mailed them to the wardens who printed them off. They all saved me and the day! Federer won as well. Many thanks to wardens at CP. Excellent! However bus journeys into London/ O2 getting worse! may have to start using tube. The little printed travel guides the wardens make are excellent and should be "rolled out" across all the sites.

SIMPLY THE BEST

This beautiful and perfectly manicured site is ideally located on the fringe of the magnificent Crystal Palace Park and a 10 minute walk away from shops, bars & restaurants and the railway station. A 20 minute journey to London Victoria Station & the Underground network. Site staff are always welcoming, very friendly and helpful and are a credit to the Caravan Club.

Beautiful quiet site

We have just returned from this site. We had an accident not 300yds from the entrance and so limped onto the overnight stay area. As we were worried about moving the van, the Wardens let us stay there until we were recovered 3 days later. They could not have been more helpful - nothing too much trouble. They even contacted us regarding the van after we had left. Thankyou so much! The site is a hidden gem..so lovely yet so close to the city centre.

Great site in a great location

Just returned home after a fantastic 5 night (it was supposed to be 4 nights, but decided to stay an extra night) stay at this site. The park is really good, with excellent facilities, and the location is brilliant. Crystal Palace is an easy walk with lots of shops, pubs and restaurants, and the park is nice to wander around. And just around the corner are a number of bus stops, one of which is for the number 3 bus that takes you central London.

Best Location Ever!

The site is hidden away within Crystal Palace Park where one of the corners of the Crystal Palace used to be. the site is terraced wooded and you could be in the country. some of the levels are quite a steep walk way from the showers. the toilet and shower block could do with with an upgrade but is perfectly adequate. the warden team are helpful and welcoming even when you mess up your booking like I did! the centre of London can be reached by bus number 3 from very near the site entrance. the journey usually takes an hour to piccadilly circus depending on traffic and changing drivers. you can also walk accross the park to Crystal Palace overground train but we only used the buses and paid using a contactless debit card (no need to buy an oyster card and pay £5 for it) the debit/credit card is only charged £4.40 no matter how many buses you travel on in a day. There is rumor that this site may close - if it does it will be a great loss to the caravan club and its members. a great site for any memeber but there are no play facilities or dog walk but Crystal Palace park can be acccesd directly from the site with all these facilities and more. I cant recomend this site highly enough

A haven in the metropolis

This was the third time we have visited and stayed at the Crystal Palace site. We love it there so easy to get into the middle of London in half an hour. We have had two stays in the summer and this, our third, in November. At all of these times the site is so welcoming hidden away from the busy traffic. The staff are so helpful and polite and take an interest in where you have come from and the reasons for your stay. The shower and facilities block is always spotlessly clean and the showers/toilets warm in the winter. We love it and will be back for more short breaks.
