Site was suffering from major sewerage problems meaning that only 1 shower available and 1 or less toilet. Experienced toilets full to brim and poor staff were just in despair. It should have been closed down. No discount offered despite the facilities not being as described. Still waiting for a response to my formal complaint. This included the fact that the review facility had been switched off thereby preventing me and other members from reporting our experiences.
Great location, shame about the facilities
Visited here for 3 nights in the half term holidays. The site was pretty full and people friendly. It's a shame this place is closing and clearly no investment has happened for a while. Many lights around the pathways were broken and had to use a torch to get around. Signage is poor and it took me a while to even find the ladies (no light outside door or arrows). To make matters worse they were experiencing problems with drainage so they had disabled many of the loos, showers and all but one washing up sink. We were directed to alternative facilities in the tent block but these were cold, and unwelcoming and coded doors to each cubicle which was a right old pain. We were warned about the drainage problem in advance, but it just made our stay pretty irritating. Impressive security, and 15 mins speedy walk to 4 different rail stations which made it an ideal location for us to explore the city.
A real gem
This was the first site we used when acquiring our motorhome, and we have returned multiple times. Having visited different sites across Europe in the interim has given us some measure of what good looks like, and this is it. The site is an oasis of calm, the facilities are good, and the staff are warm and welcoming.
It is a real shame that the site will close permanently in November as the council will redevelop it. We wish the current team every success on their future sites.
Will definitely book again
Easy commute into Central London from this site. Staff very helpful and everything was clean and tidy. Lots of big squirrels to keep the dog entertained. Good dog walk in Crystal Palace Park which is right next door.
Great location but...
First the location is amazing right next to the park awkward to get to in a MH but still an amazing location. I was surprised how nice CP was, many places to eat and shops etc.
Second the wardens are amazing so friendly and helpful.
The but is that its very tired in places which due to the constant threat of closure is completely understandable, why would you invest any money when the lease is only short term. Will be a real shame if this place goes as there were so many overseas visitors in the campsite.
I hope the Park trust can see a way of keeping this open rather than building more expensive housing.
Definitely a great stop over location for the city, be careful with ULEZ.
Inexpensive London stay
Lovely site for visiting London. Lots of transport options, bus and train into central London. The number 3 bus which goes from nearby goes to Victoria. Once there buses are available to the popular destinations in central London etc. Having OAP bus passes meant that we travelled free.
The site is in the ULEZ, which meant paying £12.50 for each driving day; two in our case, in and out, but still more than worth it.
The site staff were friendly and helpful.
Despite being near a busy road, the noise wasn't intrusive as thesite is well shielded.
Nice restaurants and eateries down the road in Crystal Palace are a bonus.
Hope to stay here again, if it isn't taken back by the local council.
June 2024 Good site, but...
Came here for a second time for two nights to visit family in London. The site has good transport links to Central London. Wardens were kind and helpful, but the site looked a little tired. Weeds are growing on the pitches and the hedges weren't as neatly trimmed as I remember from last time. Did not use the facilities on site.
Overall a pleasant stay, immediately on the park, so walking and cycling nearby. Also discovered Crystal Palace village, about a 10-15 minute walk away, with lovely shops and restaurants and a big Sainsbury supermarket.

May 30th 2024 - 4 night stay
Stayed here with caravan for 4 nights from May 30th. Very welcoming Wardens. Lovely tree lined campsite adjacent to Crystal Palace Park. Horniman Museum a short bus ride away. Had a great meal at the Rocca Di Papa Restaurant in Dulwich Village another short number 3 bus ride away.Toilet fittings a bit "tired", but showers hot and plentiful. Unsurprisingly, TV reception excellent as quite near to mast which is obscured nicely by tree cover. Very quiet and peaceful throughout our stay. Altogether, a great site close to the Capital.
Another visit to Crystal Palace
Just had another 4 days at Crystal Palace and will be returning later in the year.
Ideal site for nipping into London, and for us also visiting our daughter. The No.3 bus goes to Victoria, but personally the train is a lot quicker. Staff are very helpful, shower block is starting to show age but due to ongoing lease issue can see why.
Hopefully the lease will be extended again so we can use many more times.
Would recommend although our Motorhome is ULEZ exempt which is a bonus and well worth checking before booking.
Helpful Wardens
We just got back from a four night stay and would like to take time to thank the assistant wardens Andy & Claire who gave us a very friendly welcome and took time to answer lots of questions as it was our first time staying here.
The links into London weather by bus or rail were very good, we used both. The Campsite was very clean & tidy and we would recommend it as a base to visit London.
Thanks Tony, South Wales
