Crystal Palace short stay.

We used this site for a short 2 day stay to see a theatre show and visit London. The site is clean and tidy and good facilities and emenity blocks were well heated for the weather for our stay early March 2016 (just above freezing). Good location not too close to the city centre (traffic) but close enough to get around easily using London Transport. Trains just 15 mins walk from the site (across Crystal Palace park) or even keeping to the roadways around the park was easy. We used overground to both Victoria and London Tower which were found to be clean and punctual. Ladies may wish to take their own hair dryers as the provided wand type in the block was considered weak by my better half!

Wonderful Facility

We spent 5 nights at Crystal Palace in February.  What a fantastic facility to have so close to London! We used our bus passes to travel free to Trafalgar Square and during our stay we visited the Tate Gallery, Somerset House, the British Museum, the Imperial War Museum, had a trip on the London Eye and a guided tour of Lords Cricket Ground as well as enjoying the surrounding parkland and shops.  It was good to return to our own accommodation at night and enjoy the comfort of this excellently managed site.  Long may it remain, it is a site worth fighting for!

Great links to London

We spent a week here. The site is well laid out so that you have few other pitches surrounding you. The short walk to Crystal Palace Park makes a lovely morning out especially if you visit the maze, farm and dinosaurs. Just down the road is the number 3 bus stop which takes you into London. Jump off at Brixton Station to get onto the tube and then you have easy access to all the sights of London. The only down point is the road noise which can be a bit annoying especially in the early morning.

LOVELY SITE

We have visited Crystal Palace site a number of times each year over quite a few years. We keep coming back as so easy to bus into London and surrounding areas. There is so much to see and do, with sights and shows, and of course places of interest. Last December we visited Westminster a trip we shall never forget, bought for us by some of our family. I have heard Crystal Palace site is closing down in a couple of years, we shall really miss going there. Thank you to all of the staff who are always helpful and welcoming.

Perfect site for London

We thought the site and the staff were just fabulous. We also enjoyed being able to pop out the front gate and get a number 3 bus to Trafalgar Square. We had some really interesting days out in the centre of London and to be able to come back to a peaceful, quiet site and relax was just perfect. Thank you for your hospitality.

Oasis near London

What a surprise, this immaculately kept site within wooded grounds overlooking/adjacent to Crystal Palace Park. We had a very warm reception and were provided with very useful information on the area and transport links into London. The bus stop to central London is under 5 minutes walk away. We couldn't fault the site or the location.   Excellent.

Unexpected oasis on the outskirts of London. Lovely helpful wardens. Convenient for buses to Central London.

Excellent centre for London

Stayed at end of January 2016, our fourth visit to this site. Always immaculately maintained it is surprisingly quiet for a city site. The Wardens were cheerful and helpful, giving us advice and information on local facilities and transport. The No3 bus, which leaves from near the site, takes you directly into London and is almost a tourist ride in itself, passing Lambeth Palace, The Houses of Parliament, Whitehall , Horse Guards Parade, Trafalgar Square and Regent Street. It is always our first choice for visiting London.

Nice site for London

First time at this site and although apprehensive about towing in Greater London, it all went smoothly. We planned the route carefully using the site directions, sat nav and traditional road map and used the premise that if its wide enough for the bus, we can go in the caravan! From the west, the south circular is a good road. The site itself was as expected, clean, well laid out and the temporary wardens covering the time we were there were helpful and kind. The shower block was nice and warm. It takes an hour to get into London but get upstairs on the bus and you see the sights! If you have chip and pin, it works well and saves you trying to get an Oyster Card. I used my credit card chip and pin as I get extra peace of mind with that. Don't forget that Crystal Palace community is worth a visit. There are some good restaurants and shops and we enjoyed a splendid meal in the small Italian restaurant (Lorenzo) as well as a good lunch in a cafe (Little Palace), both on Westow Hill. All in all, we are very satisfied with this site and hope to return again if we can find space.

Crystal Palace for the first time

Stayed at Crystal Palace for the first time from 27th December till 2nd January 2016. It was a really enjoyable stay, and about a 40 minute journey on the number 3 bus from outside the site into London, we usually got off at Trafalgar Square. The warden's were brilliant, due to a disability issue they were able to move us to a more suitable pitch. Their help was very much appreciated. We took our 3 dogs with us and they enjoyed.
