Crystal Palace Club Campsite
Great location for getting into London number 3 bus stops outside and Takes about 50 minute it's also about a 10 minute walk to all bars restaurants and shops plus the station (for London) The site is a bit gravelly Lacking a bit of grass but there is plenty of trees and shrubs around to give it a country feel you would never know you was in such a bustling location right in the edge of crystal palace park but we didn't have time to explore that
A brief stay..
Ideal site for travelling into London. An hour on No3 bus and you're in Piccadilly Circus. We had two nights here. It rained almost all the time.. No ones fault. Being near main roads, a park and under a flightpath you certainly won't be short of noise. The Scottish female warden on arrival was very helpful, she was spot on with her advice on getting into London and how to pay for it. Thank you! All in all a decent well maintained little site, ideal for a base to travel into London but nothing more really.
Not for us
We booked this site as a result of reading the reviews and looking at the information on the web site. We had planned to stay for 9 nights in July and would use the site as a base for visiting London.
The wardens were friendly and helpful on arrival as is the norm for the club.
We were allocated a pitch on a hardstanding area near the toilet block, the only problem was that it was all hardstanding in the area, with about 20 units on the plot, no grass separation from next door. We were underneath the Crystal Palace pylon which dominated the view from our roof lights. It felt like we were camping on a motorway service area car park.
We walked into the local town and found a great pub with food then settled down for the night.
Next morning we both agreed that this site was not for us and we would need to leave and seek an alternative site.
The warden was great; she listened to our issues, accepted that maybe the site was not for us and suggested we try Alderstead Heath as an alternative. She called the site, made the booking, refunded our remaining nights and gave us directions for the new site.
There is nothing wrong with the site, it is close to London, it is of the usual caravan club standard for amenities but it is not for us for the reasons above.
A good well maintained location
We stayed for a week in August 2015 with our 11 year old Grandaughter. The site is extremely well maintained, all the staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. It is in a good location for getting to London. A great idea in the information office is they have take away slips of paper with full and accurate directions to all the popular London attractions. I would suggest though that non CC members be given a written sheet with some basic CC rules, mainly about late night and early morning noise. I will not detail it but we were disturbed regularly, that is not a reflection on the Wardens just thoughtless people on holiday.

a great week in london
a great place to stay, really, with friendly and helpful staff, a beautiful spot in the middle of city life.
we either used the overground to get around or bus no. 3 to see the city from different perspectives or just to get on with our books.
just perfect - thanks a lot and we hope this campsite will be there much longer.

Brilliant location
WOW what a site and what a location, the site is faultless, everything is as it should be in a site and what an entrance, with all the flowers in bloom. We used a number 3 bus mainly to brixton underground then werever, but the bus did go to big ben and close to buckingham palace.
A good tip for all= download citymapper on google play and the app gets you everywere you want to go in london using all transport modes as well as putting in times and dates- main attractions are around an hour away, couple this app with the london pass and oyster card and you get a very cheap and a very efficient way of getting round london..
The site itself and location A1-totally recommended
Terrific location for London
A great site for visiting London and its attractions, just one bus into town from outside. Great staff.
Nice trip to the capital
We have just got back from a two week tour having spent the first week here, its not the best site we have visited in two weeks but it is perfect for visiting London with great transport links to the centre just outside the site, Its well kept and has good clean facilities and friendly wardens, It good to see caravanners from all over europe on site also. It would be easier to find if they put the address as Old Cople Lane as its not on Crystal Palace Parade, so if you come from College Road as we did the sat nav turned us right on to Crystal Palace Parade and the road was closed at the t junction so we had to follow a diversion to get back to the site ( not ideal with a caravan in London) We were told that the lease was nearly up and the club were loosing this site which would be a shame as we would definately use it again
London on a budget
Crystal Palace is an excellent site with the wardens providing a host of information to make your visit to London worthwhile. There are many pubs and restaurants in the vicinity and bus communications with the rest of London are excellent. If I have a gripe it is the hardness of the hard standing but that is not confined to this site. All in all an excellent site for visiting LOndon, especially if on a budget.
London visit
An excellent stay as usual. I am a woman travelling alone in my motorhome, and always feel completely safe at this site although I am in the middle of a city.
Hop on a bus right by the site and you can be anywhere in the city. The park abuts the site and is a great place to spend a day if you just want to chill out. perfect for dog owners. Lovely to have big space for dogs to run in.
