An excellent base for London

We have been to Crystal Palace campsite before and would use it again. Not an ideal journey to reach the site from the southwest, but once there we were able to park up (lots of space around the motorhome) and enjoy what London has to offer. Plenty of travel options to get in to London (bus and train). I thought that the travel advice provided by the campsite was brilliant. They had files full of slips of paper with detailed instructions on how to get to a number of places of interest, in London, closer to home and also sporting venues, particularly useful to us as we were heading to Twickenham on one day. Getting back from Royal Albert Hall was a doddle with their info. Don't miss the Crystal Palace Museum (only open on Sundays) or a wander around the park (the dinosaurs are fun for all ages). There are loads of restaurants within walking distance. So much to do in London I'm sure it won't be long before we visit again.

Fantastic site for visiting London

We visited the site for four nights in the Easter holidays. This site allocates the pitch for you and I have to say, the wardens there took great effort in looking at our booking and accommodating the size and age of our family, making sure the pitch size was big enough and located near the toilet blocks. There are no play facilities, but that was not necessary as we planned full days out each day. Getting into London, we found that it was quicker getting the number 3 bus to st marks, then get the underground at oval station. Waterloo station gave access to the London eye, sea life, Shrek adventure, London dungeon. Baker Street station for Madame tussaudes and South Kensington station for the natural history museum. Unfortunately, we use sat nav to get part way there, however, this took us through a congestion charge area. We were unaware that this must be paid online by midnight the following day so we are waiting for a penalty notice to come through the door, making the £10 charge a £64 charge if you pay it within 14days! The site is absolutely fantastic though, surrounded by trees and a park behind. I would definitely visit again, we were extremely sad to move on.

Great

Very, very friendly staff, quite a lot of traffic noise, but what would you expect in London, didn't stop me having a great time of a good night sleep. Great location for traveling in to London. Second time of stopping would definitely stop again.

High 5

First trip in our motor home. Found the staff very friendly, site was well maintained and clean as well as quiet. Crystal Palace itself is worth seeing and travel to central London was easy.

Short pre-Easter break

Lovely, well positioned and well kept site. Was very full, but what more would we expect?! Also quite expensive but, again, you're paying for its position in London. We booked a standard pitch with awning (as confirmed in CC email) but was told on arrival that had booked a non-awning pitch. Luckily, kind lady offered us her awning pitch and all was well. Not impressed, though..

briliant site for London

Stayed at site on 26/03/2017 for 5 nights. This has got to be one of the best sites ever for location and getting into London. If like us you are pensioners, you can get the No 3 bus outside the site and it takes you into Trafalger Square,Picadilly etc, and it costs nothing with your Bus Pass. The site is very tranquil, and there is Crystal Palace Park right next door. The site is very clean and wash/toilet block is very good indeed. If you are thinking of going to London, i highly recomend this site. There are plenty of shops and restruants just down the road within walking distance, in Crystal palace itself.

Perfect location

We stay here quite a lot when we are visiting friends in London. Although we live just outside Brighton it is more convenient to stay here than get the train home at night! Plenty of space on the pitches, always quiet and facilities clean. Could maybe do with a bit of an upgrade but that's just being picky! Bus service is great. We always use the 3 or N3 to get in to town. I hope the rumour is not true from a previous reviewer. It will be a real shame to lose this site.

Great Location!

I've stayed here a few times as its a great location for visiting London. Station is only 10 minutes walk away and Taxis from central to here are cheap if returning late. Site is clean and quiet. You sometimes forget where you are! Great mix of pitches and toilet/shower facilities are spotless. Nice and friendly wardens. No complaints!

Oasis in London

We had a lovely sunny pitch, the site was up to usual standards and the staff extra helpful. Considering how close this is to central London it is amazingly peaceful. Crystal Palace park is very convenient for stretching the legs and a bit of fresh air, also safe and interesting for grandchildren to play in when they visited. Crystal Palace village centre is a 15 minute level walk and great for restaurants especially the Italian where we got 10% discount for being at the site - excellent food too. Plenty of buses and Uber taxis worked well. We found the directions to the site a bit difficult to follow, approaching from the north. When leaving we used A212 - A205 South Circular - A102 Blackwall Tunnel and it was very easy. Will use this way when we go again.
