Arrived just after reception officially closed, but staff were very helpful and did not make us feel rushed. Pitches are not preallocated, so we drove around until we found one that suited us. The site is a bit of a maze with many trees and roads, but we were given a useful map. Pitches are well spaced. Site facilities were very clean and sufficient for such a large site. Nice walk into Coniston village. Acceptable phone signal on both 3 and EE networks.
A nice site to stay.
As a rule we tend not to holiday in the school hoildays. We arrived at Coniston on a Monday it was busy but orderly. The staff are a credit to the club and even when busy allways friendly and helpful.
We stayed for seven nights and the weather was good given that the lake district has one of the highest rainfalls in the UK. If you like walking, bikes sailing or just an outdoors type this site is for you. well placed for the lakes. If you get chance have a walk to the Ship Inn about 20 mins walk. The food is good and the staff very helpful.
We will be going back again.

A lovely week
We had a lovely stay here. The site and facilities are immaculate and it's great that you choose your own pitch. We will definitely be returning. Our only suggestion for improvement is to paint mark the storm drains. They are worse than the speed bumps and take you by surprise even at very low speed. Apart from that - A FANTASTIC site

Disappointing arrival experience
Stayed for three nights arriving late Friday evening after a hectic journey.
Was in a queue behind two people trying to check in as part of a group. Was horrified at how the lady receptionist with blonde hair & glasses treat the customer with what I would describe as quite a stroppy attitude, just because they said their party may arrive after 8pm. Fortunately, the receptionist changed her tune with me. Unfortunately, I was told to drive around the site and take my pick of pitch and to let her know my pitch number before 8pm.
Three quarters of an hour later and two full laps of the site - which is a maze in the dark and rain in a 28ft motorhome, I was about to give up and go home.
My wife spoke to one of the male wardens who then checked available pitches, to advise a choice of three available and if these weren't suitable, to move pitches in the morning when they had fifty or so planned departures. So why couldn't the lady advise which pitches were available?
We ended up on what we deemed to be the best of the bunch which was waterlogged and muddy.
We moved the following day.
The problem with this site is they give you a photo copied site plan map which is very difficult to read.
Add to it that different parts of the site are named after Lake District areas - but these areas are missing from the site plan they give you.
You can't see the pitch marker numbers whilst driving round because other members units are pitched in the way. Those that are available, you can't see the number because it was dark. Because of the trees, it's fairly dark during daylight hours.
That aside, if you like staying under trees with little natural daylight, this site will be for you.
There were a few areas which offered an open glaze, but arrive late and you'll miss out during peak times.
Facilities are like what you'd come to expect from a club site and the site was very clean and tidy.
We walked from the site along the lakeside path into Coniston, which is very nice and offers a selection of pubs, cafes and a few shops.
There's also the boat rides and boat hire on Coniston lake which is worthwhile.
On the whole, it was a nice site, but I think that a more friendly and helpful check in experience would have made our stay a more enjoyable experience.

Good for a Return
Found the layout of pitches to be imaginative, affording privacy and with a profusion of trees for shelter - a downside of which was constant drumming of rain when it poured! Spotless shower and toilet facilities, very helpful staff, easy access to Coniston village and lake, availability of fish & chips on site, etc, made our stay very enjoyable. If we were nit-picking, we would ask for more level pitches.
Will certainly return.

not too much to moan about
Fantastic place had a greatime here rather overshadowed having been up in Borrowdale.
Only complaint is the wifi works well enough to take your money but not well enough to catch up with even email
Coppice Park Review - August 2015
Easy to find site from the South via Newby Bridge. No real road issues and no blockages at entrance when we arrived. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Processed us quickly. The site covers a wide area, and the pitches are well spread out and scattered around in clusters, not the regimented uniform pitches often found on CC sites. Plenty of privacy and quiet cul-de-sacs! A lot of pitches are sloping, so bring levelling wedges. Some pitches are under trees, which is great for a bit of shade, but not good if you want bright sunshine - perfect for us as we have 3 dogs. Toilet block was immaculately clean, and you accessed with a key. Need a torch in the dark to find facilities as not well lit. Pubs 15 mins walk away. Coniston shops 20 mins walk, but small shop on site from 9 to 6 stocked all essentials. Fish and chip van comes to site several days per week in season. Good site, will go back again.
Conditions on site
The staff at this site are friendly and most helpful and kept the public areas and showers blocks in pristine condition, however the pitches we looked at and finally settled on were tired and in need of renovation as the hardstanding was bare resulting in muddy ground
The site is perfectly located for Coniston and several other prominent towns but unfortunately we would not return unless improvements were made

Excellent countryside site
Stayed August 2015.
Staff very helpful and welcoming. They gave useful advice onlocal area, paths from the site etc.
the site covers a wide area, and the pitches are scattered around in clusters, not the regimented uniform pitches often found on CC sites. A lot of pitches are sloping, so bring levelling wedges. Some pitches are under trees, which is great for a bit of shade, but not good when it rains, and for several hours afterwards.
Toilet block was immaculately clean, and you neded a key which stopped kids playing in them, plenty of hot water in the showers.
Only 10 mins drive from Coniston, 30 mins from Ambleside, Windermere.
You can bike and walk from the site, but some of the paths are muddy, and not lit, so bring a big torch and don't wear your best shoes. Pubs 15 mins walk away. Shop 20 mins walk, but small shop on site from 9 to 6 stocked all essentials. Fish and chip can comes to site several days per week in season. Good site, will go back again.

Long weekend in the Lakes
This is the 4th time I have stayed here, the staff are helpful and friendly, the location is perfect for water sports, walking, exploring the lakes and visiting the local area. Site is immaculately clean and well maintained and both dog & family friendly. Pitches are not cramped and I love the privacy of the cul de sac type layout among the trees. Depending on which pitch you chose you might need rock pegs and a decent hammer but otherwise it gets my vote hands down as the best site I have visited in the UK yet hence why we keep coming back. It has a decent shop albeit small but all the essentials are in there if you forget anything, a mobile chippy van parks up at the site entrance 3 evenings a week and smells lovely when you get the waft of supper in the air. There is a pub within walking distance of the site and another one a very short drive away in Torver which does excellent food and has a huge beer garden to sit in. The Lake itself is only 10 minutes walk away and is lovely to swim in or walk along plus if you have dogs they love it. BBQ's are allowed so long as they are kept off the ground to avoid damage or fire hazard. Ideal for walking up the "old man of Coniston" and other fells that surround the area. The down side? none as far as the site is concerned but the access road from the south is twisty and narrow in places so take caution but the road from the north is even worse, you could be in serious trouble coming from that direction so worth the detour to change your approach if you have the option (or travel in the very small hours to avoid meeting anybody coming in the opposite direction). Access once on site itself is very good although some of the pitches in the lower sections of the site can get a bit damp when it has rained, I was very glad of 4 wheel drive when I stayed on a previous occasion.
showers are good, hot and kept spotlessly clean. All in all thumbs up and we will be going back again for the second time this year in a few weeks once the schools have gone back. Highly recommended.
