We have just stayed the bank holiday week. Shower blocks are v well looked after. Great central location with loads of walks so no need to use the car if you don't want to. Downside for us was that the trees are so tall and thick that very little sunlight came through, so even when we had some sunny days, we weren't really able to sit out to enjoy it. Also, we paid for wifi and was only able to login once the whole week. It just would not load onto the login screen, despite trying every day at different times of the day. Very disappointing!! Other than that, lovely site!
This was our first stay in a Caravan Club site and more importantly our first time away in our new and first caravan!
Park Coppice was a real delight, the facilities were always clean, a fantastic location in the forest above Coniston Water with a very nice and short walk down to the lake.
The pitches were of good size although we did move after the first night as we had chosen a pitch that had just a bit too much slope for us newbees to get level. The site is also well designed so it feels like you are in a smaller site as trees separate the pitches into groups of about 7 or 8.
From the site it is 15-20 minutes walk to Coniston and there is of course so much to do in the area.
The staff at Park Coppice were great - giving some really useful advice on which way to get to the site - avoiding the worst of the narrow roads - useful for us as it was also our first time towing anything!!
For our first experience it was great and we are hoping that other sites we visit on our new adventure will be to this quality.
Finally thanks to our neighbours who advised us on how best to set up - I think our inexperience showed!!
We will be back!
We stayed here late August and are 2 adults and 2 dogs. The wardens are the jolliest and most helpful we've come across this year and really gave the well kept site a good atmosphere. The access to coniston water is so easy and the local walks beautiful. However we found that the layout of the site, although attractive in a way with glades and coppices made most of the pitches really dark due to the overhanging trees. This was a real shame as it felt cold and gloomy even when the sun was out. Just something others may want to be aware of.
When looking for a site we searched for those with showers and despite it not showing the shower symbol it has excellent hot showers.
The day we arrived (31 August - bank holiday) they had just had 130 guests leave the site and it was in perfect order, very tidy with no litter which was amazing with that many people vacating at once.
It was a very peaceful site with so many little bays that you could park in, 5 or 6 in 1 area or you could park away from others if you preferred. I liked the options of parking under trees or in open areas so if you were lucky like us arriving after the mayhem of a bank holiday then you have a very good choice of plots.
We have a border collie dog so went off for walks down by the lake and also walk around the site with the dog on a lead and as there were many routes to take within the site the dog was well exercised. Every dog owner was obviously very conscientious about clearing up after their dogs, you wouldn't have know there was a dog on the site - as it should be, so no 'non doggie visitors' would have had a problem with dogs being there.
The staff were very friendly and informative.
The last 6 miles from the main road was a tad interesting as we have a big motorhome with a trailer carrying a small car behind and there is a very good chance of meeting other like for like vehicles or large vans coming the other way which gave us a few hairy moments as you hopefully pass each other on the slightly wider parts of the road but as long as you know your vehicle with you can pass each other with care. Just be mindful that there are rocks hidden in the grassy hedge bottoms so know they are there and don't scratch your vans.
Really enjoyable stay. Very clean bin areas and site immaculate, thanks for making it such an enjoyable stay.
Would we return, yes 100%.
Thank you.
This site is absolutely fantastic! The staff are friendly and helpful and keep the site beautifully clean and tidy. The facilites are lovely and clean with plentiful hot water in the showers etc. We love the layout of the site which has little clearings suitable for just a few caravans each, which means that although it is a large site it feels very intimate and peaceful.
The location is superb with plenty of good walks nearby. Will certainly be returning again soon.
Came here for the first time in August. It certainly won't be the last. Wardens go the extra mile to help their customers and always very friendly with a smile. It was like staying in the middle of a wood. The scenery was beautiful. Can't wait to go back
This is a great site. Well maintained with excellent shower blocks. If you want to watch TV then make sure you pack a cable as there is no signal at all.
There's loads to see and do in the area and the scenery is stunning. We will be back.
We stayed at this site for 5 nights in Mid August. It was mild but very wet. We selected a pitch on a large gravel area that resembled a car park, neverthe less it ensured our pitch remained quite dry, the awning too. Wardens were very helpful. Site was generally clean though with so many units it was muddy in parts. Most pitches had plenty of room, good washblocks (3) which were never busy even with site say 90% full. Good location for access to Lake and walks to Coniston. Many families on the site who were making the most of access to the lake for boating activities. Unlike other caravan club sites we saw little wildlife, especially compared with Carsington Water or Hawes who we visited days earlier.
This site is fantastic it was really well maintained an quiet the staff were very friendly an helpful nothing was too much trouble for them can't recommend enough
