Peace

Just had 7days of peace, sunshine and beautiful surroundings.  The only downside is no super pitches, but a minor point.

Tranquility until Friday

For a large site it was remarkably quiet, good sized pitches, helpful staff, lots of wildlife, but the clue is in the title 'Coppice' so be prepared to be in shade and under trees.  If you are happy with that you will love it. Within easy reach of Coniston by foot and many other lovely walks direct from the site makes it a great place if you are into walking. Downside, Friday night arrivals shatter the peace and disrespectful dog owners, who will happily walk into your pitch area and let their dog foul and walk away, or allow their dog to use the drinking water fencing to relieve themselves - lovely......and, what is with the 'we will pick up the poo but then discard it into the woods along with the bag'.  This site has the facilities to cater for both, walks within seconds of your pitch away from units and bins for the messy bits.  Maybe in a different week the later wouldn't be a problem. Can't comment on facilities didn't need to use them as Caravan has it all.

Leaf stains & annoying dogs.

We have just spent eleven nights at this site which is a refreshing break from the usual regimented layout of club site; all the pitches are, to a greater or lesser degree, sheltered by tree cover. Which in practice means, constant dripping on the roof long after its finished raining, and very bad leaf stains on the roof. Apart from that, its location is fantastic, being a short walk down a stony track and through a camp site field to the Edge of Coniston Water. The mile walk to Coniston is all good underfoot with tarmac or stony paths, suitable for pushchairs etc. A word of warning if you intend to use the site in the next few days, avoid any pitch near the family on 163, they have two dogs which create havoc when other dogs pass the pitch, and their German Shepherd will rear up on its back legs barking and snapping. I did complain personally to the owners about the antisocial behaviour and lack of control but they just don't get it. The wardens also had words but there is only one solution for this type of behaviour, and that is to get them off the site straight away. These people merely give all dog owners a bad press, which is extremely annoying, especially as we, like the rest of the multitude of dog owners using the site, manage to keep our dog quiet and under control. Apart from that, a great site.

Great Week at Coniston

Had a great week here. Rained at night and sunny during the day. Amazing location for getting around. We were able to walk in to Coniston and also to the Gondola - a great trip around the whole lake. From here we also drove to Beatrix Potters home. Loved the holiday here and will be back.

It's Getting Tired

this was our fourth consecutive year at coniston, every year is a pleasent stay but sorry to report that the pitches are starting to get worn out and tired. cigarette butts are abundant on some pitches that you consider staying on and are starting to look scruffy, its very peaceful and the surroundings are just as good as years previous, theres been alot of coppiceing (trees cut back) but park coppice is based on this fact, but its been done harshly so privacy is not as good as years previous. toilets are not cleaned very well same poo stains left by dirty people still on toilets 2 days later. still a nice walk by the lake, lot of lights not working around plug in points, otherwise still a pleasant stay. thank you.

One of the best sites

5 out of 6 days of sunshine in the Lakes during September is a good start. The site is perfectly located for either a strenuous walking holiday or a leisurely restful brake. We have never come across staff at any CC site that were not excellent, but this team as well as being excellent seem to be a very happy jovial team that enjoy their work and each others company. There have been a few comments stating that as this is a woodland based site you are constantly in the shade, however if you know the site there are quite a few pitches that get a lot of sunshine. The on site shop is excellent and stocks just about everything you need. If you have never been to this site you don't know what you are missing. My only slight gripe is that the peace was disturbed by a loud barking dog that seemed to be allowed to bark for long periods of time.

September break

Our 2nd visit to this immaculately kept site. We cannot speak to highly of the cleanliness of the toilet blocks and the ancillary provisions. The couriers work very hard and are extremely pleasant. Ideally placed to visit all areas in South Lakes.

brilliant site

We stayed at coniston park coppice the first weekend in September 2015  This is only our second time as caravaners so we are still new and finding our feet. The approach to the site can be quite scary for beginners. In places it is a single track road.  we were quite fortunate and didn't pass anything were we needed to manoeuvre too much but I can imagine that if 2 large vehicles were face to face it would be difficult to get past. Having said this, the site is a great Base. We have a 5 year old and he loved the freedom and walks to the lake were he was able to paddle. We touched lucky and had beautiful weather. There is plenty to do in coniston from boat rides to long walks up the 'old man coniston'. Be aware tho, this site is very uneven in places so you WILL need levellers and chocks. We were greeted by friendly staff, but can honestly say the other caravaners on site helped us more than anyone else ever could,  even running over with a glass of prosecco for us!  I am truly loving this caravan life!  Highly recommend the site just remember your levellers and chocks!
