Superb first outing on a Club site

Very well laid out and spotless throughout. Chris and the staff excellent and ever helpful with we beginners:-) Good walks south to Torva or North the Conniston and we even picked up a ferry to take us (and our two Labs) across to the other shore for more walking. Looking forward to a return visit.

Peaceful site

Welcoming reception with helpful advice on the different areas of the site. Well laid out site in small glades with plenty shelter. Quite long walks to toilet blocks but which are kept spotlessly clean. Short walk to the lake with good paths. Beautiful scenery.

Coniston - nice coffee shops, friendly people

First impressions of the site were not totally brilliant, as we drove round and round trying to find a level(ish) looking plot with a bit of space. Each plot is smaller than we've found at most other CC sites, apart from the occasional few on corners. We pitched our motorhome up at the top of the site, near the entrance road since the wardens had told us that was where to go for a peaceful and quiet stay. Apart from the nearby road traffic, it was quite peaceful - and after several more walks round the site, we eventually managed to get our bearings a little. Fortunately, we'd printed a site plan at home, because we can never make sense of those the wardens provide, after they've scribbled all over them with hi-lighter. We found the site plan a little helpful, but it would be better if it had the plots marked out and numbered instead of being a detailed record of every single tree (hundreds of them) on the site. There must be a reason for drawing the trees and for scribbling all over them with a hi-lighter, to usual CC standards, but it escapes me. Pitched up, and a walk along the water's edge to the farm (or Coniston Hall to give it its proper name) provided some interesting views and photographs, especially of the hall itself, with its very tall and unusual chimneys. Then up to the road and back along the footpath that runs through the field, avoiding the busy and dangerous road, straight into the camp site. Perhaps the wardens could tell people about this instead of concentrating on hi-lighter use, or as well as, if the hi-lighting is a CC essential. Walking into Coniston took about 30 minutes (it's about a mile, for those who don't measure distance in minutes). Nice and quaint place, very picturesque buildings, but it's disappointing that nothing seems to have happened there apart from Ruskin and Campbell making their tremendous impressions on the world, or if anything else has happened, nobody is prepared to let you in on it. Nice coffee shops, shame about the 'touristy shops' which sell nothing to do with the local area, apart from said pair of gentlemen. Would we visit again? Prefer Kendal, but don't tell anyone.

Fantastic Site

What a great site.  We just had our second visit to Park Coppice.  Once again the staff were excellent, helpful and friendly and the site was in top condition. We found a great spot the had a good mix of shade and sun - we even managed to pick up a satellite signal so had all the luxuries of home!! I can't recommend this site more - it is in a fantastic spot to explore both the local area and further afield in the Lake District.  There is a nice short walk down to the lake and along into Coniston only about 20 minutes away.  The shower block is kept very clean and the site has a small shop where you can get the basics.  Coniston is only a 5 minute drive if you need a larger shop. We will be back!!

What A Find!!

Just spent a great week at this site with our new toy.   We hadn't been here before but would definitely return.   The best bit for us was the fact that there are so many small coves within the site with just 5 or 6 vans in each area.   It gave a very spacious and wild feel.   I appreciate that for a great many sites space is limited and rows are inevitable but this was just brilliant.   We cycled round Coniston Water 3 times as it was such a good run each time finishing up at the village of Coniston for some light refreshment!!   The walking in the area is also amazing and for the first few days you wouldn't have to venture out in the car.   Some lovely small shops in Coniston where you could pick up provisions if required.  We were fortunate to have a look at a whole load of Airstreams which were having a rally there - they were awesome!!   The standard of the site was excellent with very friendly wardens.   Also we thought the cleaning of the toilets mid-late afternoon is a great idea.   Look forward to returning in the not too distant future but for a longer stay.   Well Done The Wardens at this site!!

Love this place

We visit here as often as we can. We love the trees, the quiet pitches, the proximity of the lake, the beer in town! The husband can recommend the 8% Barley Wine from Coniston Bluebird!  Facilities are wonderful, the wardens are friendly and welcoming. We walked to Torver to the Wilsons Arms, good food and beer! It's good walk into Coniston too. We climbed the old man, despite the weather and cycled around the lake too.   Our only reservation is we find the drive from Greenodd quite a challenge with the caravan, we've met everything on the narrowest stretches from horses boxes to coaches! We will keep going back to Park Coppice though, I just breathe in and shut my eyes! (Thankfully, I don't drive this stretch!)

Highly recommend this site

We have been coming here for several years and it is one of our favourite sites. You can walk into Coniston along the lake. There are many other good walks from the site. The wardens have always been friendly and helpful. The facilities are kept spotlessly clean. In addition, many of the popular places in the Lakes are a short drive away.

A lovely site

We were on our way to Scotland in our caravan along with a friend in her campervan and stopped here for a few days.  It was a bit different from other sites that we've used: lots of little glades in a large forested area.     When we arrived the site was almost empty so we had no trouble finding a spot for both vehicles.  The facilities were clean and well maintained and the wardens were friendly and helpful, especially in advising us of the best route to continue our journey up to Scotland.    We recommend the fish and chip van for the food and also the entertainment.     We certainly intend to return for a longer stay.

Surperb setting

This site is set into some of the best countryside that England has to offer. It is well run and well maintained. The hard standing we found to be just that - hard. You do also need to ensure that you have sufficient levelling blocks with you (although the shop does sell them). This is important to note as, being the lakes it rains a lot and getting the awning taut depends on good pegging out and relatively level ground. If you are intending partaking in water based activities there is access to the water, but it is not direct access and is some distance from the lake.
