We spent a lovely few nights here recently. We booked in for 3 and kept extending it we were enjoying ourselves too much. The site is well kept although it does get waterlogged on some pitches. The toilet facilities were newly refurbished and spotless. The road noise was not too bad and did not really bother us too much, and we don't live near a main road. It is well positioned for visiting lots of places of interest, shame a lot of those were still closed on our visit. We did spend a wet but enjoyable day in Chester and had a guided tour of the Cathedral which was lovely. The staff were very friendly and approachable. Look forward to visiting again in the not too distant future.
Idleness in men's toilet block.
I am in the middle of a five night stay here, the newly refurbished shower Block is spotless. As for the rest of the site it is a bit wet with big puddles everywhere, having said that what can one expect in the middle of winter. The only down side is not with the site or the wardens it is with the other members. Why don't they use the squeegee mops after they have a shower? I am talking about the men's shower block, it is just idleness. Rant over and enjoying my stay.
Ideal touring base
We have used this site previously both with a car/caravan combination and with our current motorhome. Although the bus stop is approximately 15-20 minutes away it allows access to both Chester, calling at Chester Zoo and Liverpool. At the time of our visit we were disappointed to find that the bins were not being emptied as regularly as other sites which resulted in full bins by early evening on 2 of our 3 nights of our visit. Depending where you live you also may find traffic noise (from the nearby motorway) intrusive. The motorhome service point is up to standard.
ideal location
Absolute doddle to get to.Just a few turns off the motorway and your there.
Blue Planet aquarium is a few minutes drive away.Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet is even nearer-literally 2 mins away.Chester itself is a few miles drive down the road. The site itself is up to usual Club standards and there is a small playground for the kids.Special mention must go to the shower/toilet block. It is absolutely immaculate.Credit to the wardens for that.I never noticed the road and aircraft noise that other people have mentioned. One word of warning DO NOT go to the Rake pub which is just near the near the main entrance. The poor reviews it has received from Club members and Trip Advisor are wholly accurate.I made the fatal error of taking my kids in there and my daughter ended up in tears due to the staffs nastiness! My recent review is currently on trip advisor. In summary-great location, spotlessly clean, very friendly.
lovely clean comfortable site
very easy to access, friendly staff, site clean and tidy, toilets/showers spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. Walking distance to 2 pubs/restaurants, lots of shopping nearby and bus stops for Chester and Liverpool. The site is perfectly placed for visiting Chester, Liverpool, even a trip into North Wales or Manchester. There is a lot of road noise from the nearby motorway and the site seems to be in the flight path for Liverpool airport so expect some noise.
Return visit required
Stayed at the site for 4 nights arriving early Thursday afternoon on 9th Feb. Picked this site due to being close to Birkenhead and we wished to visit the U Boat Story and see a German U Boat and Port Sunlight.
We were very pleased with our stay and the only thing stopping us giving it 100% was the noise from the motorway. This is probably not noticeable in the summer as the trees will provide screening. Saying that we will be visiting again as we only manged to see some of the sites.
If you are into Designer shopping this is the place to be, not for me though, U Boat story is well worth a visit and next time we will included it in a trip on the Mersey Ferry. We would also recommend a visit to Port Sunlight, if only all towns could be like this.
Staff are the normal Club high standard and the site is kept very clean and tidy. I give the shower block 10 out of 10.

Ideal base
Stayed for a week to be close to my mother in hospital in Chester. Lovely facilities in terms of "sanitaires", and spotlessly maintained. Helpful wardens when I had a problem with my 12v system. Peace and quiet loses a tick because of being woken by commuting traffic in the morning. But otherwise, you quickly get used to it. My only suggestion for improvement would be the dog walk area. It was a bit of a quagmire (hardly surprising at this time of year) but the use of chipped bark like the area at Chapel Lane would vastly improve this aspect.
February 2017 trip to Chester zoo
Great site, shower room lovely and warm and clean. Everything you would expect from caravan club site. The main road is very busy and quite close, traffic is non stop so some noise if you choose pitch on roadside. We ate in the Rake Inn just a few minutes walk from site. I would advise you not to go there, the food was diabolical. I complained, didnt eat food and got money knocked off bill. On the day of leaving we noticed a Harvester and other eateries very close by but be careful of crossing roads. We planned to meet family at Chester zoo as it was grandaughters birthday so we got a taxi which cost about £7, its about 3.5 miles so short easy trip. Once again, a lovely break in our motorhome
Excellent site
We stayed at the site from 1 - 4 February and we'll certainly be back to explore more of the area. The facilities were excellent (love the big shower cubicles) and the site clean and tidy. If you don't want to drive, the bus service to Chester/Liverpool is close by and runs frequently though it was a bit hairy walking along Rake Lane to from the bus stop as there isn't a footpath.

Great spot for exploring Chester and the staff were very helpful with advice. Weather wasn't great but still enjoyed our stay. Will visit again. 😃
