Ideal base

Stayed for a week to be close to my mother in hospital in Chester. Lovely facilities in terms of "sanitaires", and spotlessly maintained. Helpful wardens when I had a problem with my 12v system. Peace and quiet loses a tick because of being woken by commuting traffic in the morning. But otherwise, you quickly get used to it. My only suggestion for improvement would be the dog walk area. It was a bit of a quagmire (hardly surprising at this time of year) but the use of chipped bark like the area at Chapel Lane would vastly improve this aspect.

February 2017 trip to Chester zoo

Great site, shower room lovely and warm and clean. Everything you would expect from caravan club site. The main road is very busy and quite close, traffic is non stop so some noise if you choose pitch on roadside. We ate in the Rake Inn just a few minutes walk from site. I would advise you not to go there, the food was diabolical. I complained, didnt eat food and got money knocked off bill. On the day of leaving we noticed a Harvester and other eateries very close by but be careful of crossing roads. We planned to meet family at Chester zoo as it was grandaughters birthday so we got a taxi which cost about £7, its about 3.5 miles so short easy trip. Once again, a lovely break in our motorhome

Excellent site

We stayed at the site from 1 - 4 February and we'll certainly be back to explore more of the area. The facilities were excellent (love the big shower cubicles) and the site clean and tidy. If you don't want to drive, the bus service to Chester/Liverpool is close by and runs frequently though it was a bit hairy walking along Rake Lane to from the bus stop as there isn't a footpath.

Great spot for exploring Chester and the staff were very helpful with advice. Weather wasn't great but still enjoyed our stay. Will visit again. 😃

Ideal base for exploring the area

Visited 10th. - 13th. November 2016. Site was busy, but we were given a friendly welcome by the wardens who advised on avoiding specific pitches due to flooding. This did become quite noticeable during our stay as there was significant rain during the weekend. The new showers etc are excellent and well thought-out and the wardens do an excellent job in keeping them sparkling. Good base for shopping at Cheshire Oaks or M&S. Chester is not far and well worth a visit, including walking the walls. The zoo is not far,as are many other attractions.

Ideal Christmas Escape!

We have visited this site a good number of times in the past 2 years, mainly as it is close to the rehabilitation unit that our youngest daughter has been a patient of for the past 2 years. This site is our favourite of all the club sites we have stayed at and it provides us with somewhere close and comfortable to stay on the many visits from our home in Oxfordshire. We feel that this is one of the best run and certainly the neatest CC sites we have come across, particularly the 5 star toilet block and so we were quite happy to stay here during the winter months! We haven't had what you would call a 'normal' Christmas now for at least 7 years and this year was going to be no exception and so we came up with the idea of largely 'escaping' from it. I collected our caravan from storage on the 22nd December and on the 23rd, my wife and I set off up north to Chester Fairoaks. We were not sure what to expect as we have never before spent Christmas in the caravan but in fact what we found on arrival suited us perfectly. Our fellow 'escapees' were scattered around the site - we counted around 25 caravans/motorhomes in all. A few had coloured lights and some more elaborate decorations but all very tastefully done. The toilet block stayed exceptionally clean with so few users and the atmosphere was chilled and laid back. There was also mulled wine and mince pies laid on in the site office during late afternoon on Christmas Eve for those who wanted to socialise a little. Overall, although everyone we came across on our trips to the facilities was perfectly friendly (as is always the case on CC sites), everyone kept themselves to themselves - perhaps we were all observing some sort of unspoken rule not to make it obvious that it was Xmas!! It was a very peaceful, alternative few days away from the stress and strains that come with Xmas and the Xmas break and just what we had in mind. We were able to visit our daughter each day while we were there which made it a special time for her too. Yes we did have a turkey dinner on the day itself - M&S for two - ready in 35 minutes washed down with a bottle of bubbly - not bad for that kind of thing! Ironically, that's the first proper Xmas dinner we have had for a good few years!! We spent 6 nights on site in total but by the day after boxing day the site was starting to fill up and by the time we left on the 29th, the site was full! For us it was time to leave and to go back home to escape the next event on the calendar, New Year! Thanks Chester Fairoaks and to the wardens for helping us make good our 'escape'. We will be back!

Post Xmas break

We stayed here for 2 nights (27/28 Dec) to break up the Xmas period and take advantage of the sales at the nearby Cheshire Oaks. On arrival the wardens were efficient in checking us in and there were lots of available pitches. We ate at the nearby 'Hungry Horse' pub the first night. The food was pretty good but cheap and cheerful best sums it up. The next day we went shopping at nearby Cheshire Oaks which is literally 2 min drive away. On our return we found that a number of new vans had arrived on site. Unfortunately on the second night one of the new motorhome arrivals felt the need to play music loudly until midnight. As we left on the 29th we didn't bother mentioning to the wardens but feel that if the wardens enforced the 10pm 'quiet time' it would've been a more pleasant stay. Should also note that the trade off for proximity to Cheshire Oaks is that there is some road noise from the M53 on the site.

A Shoppers Paradise

A wonderful clean site , the toilet block with piped radio was an absolute delight to use. Access to the Colliseum shopping park and Cheshire Oaks is a short 10 minute walk, there are three pubs serving food also within staggering range. Only downside is a tiny dog walk where not everyone is as diligent with clearing up after their pets!!!!

Late break.

Excellent site with friendly staff and the cleanest toilet block ever. Pub next door very cheap for both drinks and food. Information centre spot on and bus routes within easy walking distance. Will certainly be returning.

Great for shopping and city visits

A very nice site with a super-dooper toilet block. The only downside was the constant drone of the nearby roads and motorway, you forgot about it after a couple of days! It was a brisk 15 minute walk to the enormous outlet centre and the bus stop - we took the bus into Chester, which is a lovely town, and Liverpool where we visited the Albert Docks and Maritime Museum. Chester Zoo is about 3 miles away and the Chester bus stops off at their car park, and there's also an aquarium in walking distance. If you fancy a meal out there are 3 pubs which are near enough to walk to.
