Our first experience

We bought our motor home the day before our visit and used the site as our test base, this is the first U.K. site we had visited and we were pleased, the site is very quiet and has very good and beautiful walks near by. Facilities are adequate water pressure a bit low but hot shower achieved the toilet block although kept clean could do with a makeover. All in all enjoyed our stay and would visit again for a quiet break.

Second visit to a great location.

We spent four nights of the Easter Break at Buxton, and we had a quiet, relaxing and very refreshing trip (including the still Wintry weather). This site is one of the most peaceful CS's on the network, the Location is great for a lot of Derbyshire Towns and Villages, and we picked off Manchester on Good Friday, due to bad weather, and the ladies of the family all voting for a trip to the Trafford Centre. The Gent's Shower and WC block is now a little tired and in need of a refurb - but is clean and serviceable, which is always the main concern. We will return at some point in the future.

First visit

Very well cared for site with friendly wardens. The toilet block was very clean, however generally looking a little tired. The showers were hot, regrettably little more water than a trickle. The setting was picturesque and peaceful, unfortunately we experienced rain and cold weather.

1st time at Buxton, will come back. Great Wardens.

Great welcome from wardens, on our first visit to site. These wardens make me broad to be a member, as the sites are not that great without brilliant wardens. I had a disabled pitch booked, but they already know. The other warden (think his name was Shaun, wish I asked to be sure of his name) was at the pitch and he helped us to reverse onto pitch, such a great help. People shouldn't be put off by the site as its a disused quarry, as it's such a lovely site. The showers and toilet block needs a little update as low pressure of showers, maybe this will be part of the sites redevelopment. The area is lovely, there are so many places to visit and also walk. You can walk to Solomons temple & buxton park where the pavilion is, nice place. Other places which I'm only saying a few of are Chatsworth House, Bakewell with the lovely bakewell tart & pudding, Matlock Bath with Heights of Abraham cable car, Castleton with Peveril Castle & village, Crich Tramway Village is nice. This is a few places, as there's so many to visit. Thanks

What a brilliant start

This was the first time on a Caravan Club site and what a treat it was. If this is the standard to go by we have no worries at all. The Staff were very helpful and gave us a tremendous greeting, really set the holiday off to a great start. Thank you very much. Will definitely visit again.

A+++ Apart From Old Toilet Block Knocks It Down To A

What a wonderful site! What lovely wardens! It really is very nice. We arrived after dark without a club card and nothing planned for tea.... We put up an awning and needed to borrow a mallet and we forgot to put our clocks back! No problems for these friendly Wardens. The site is spectacular. For any Tolkien fans out there, think Middle Earth... Good for dogs as there's Grin Low country park right next door and plenty of poo bins around the site. Shame on you who couldn't be bothered to use them! Nice walk into Buxton, not too sure I'd fancy it on the way back, but there's a special rate with a local taxi company. See they've thought of everything! My only criticism would be the one and only old toilet block. However it was pristine, and the showers were a good hot temperature. But it needs modernizing and I'm glad we were there when it was quiet. I'll be back, it gets the imagination going!

Buxton in March

Perhaps March was not a good time to visit the High Peak. Plenty of rain and plenty of pools appearing on the grassed areas. Tv on the bollard was a bonus, virtually no EE signal on site but plenty after a 10 min walk up the hill, & 4G too. Toilet block clean but looking tired, a few cracked tiles etc, shower pressure very poor, temperature rather cooler than required as is often the case. Toilet flush tanks small and slow to fill, require several attempts to flush, again as is often the case. Walk down into Buxton via the woods takes 25 mins down to the car park and a further 10 to 15 mins into the town.. Don't think we will be back.

Quick getaway...

We stayed here on their last weekend of being open. Half the site was closed off, perfect for us to walk our dog. Truly lovely well maintained site and facilities. Wardens very helpful. Great location for a walk in to Buxton. Shall be returning in the spring and summer months.
