Lovely relaxing stay

A first time for us staying in the Peak District and neither the area nor campsite disappointed. The wardens were extremely friendly and helpful. The facilities exceptionally clean and the service points all in one area. My husband was slightly disappoint when our satellite TV couldn't pick up the football. Easy walking distance to Buxton through a lovely woodland area. Beautiful walks on the door step. The wardens printed off several maps for us and we really enjoyed the Manifold valley and Dovedale walk. Fish and chips on site and a bottle of wine. Who needs more!

Nice site, Noisy neighbours

We stayed here for 3 nights, the site is nice with some good walks. Unfortunately our stay was spoiled by a group of young adults 7 in 2 tents on one pitch. Car parked on the grass at the side of the tents became the mobile disco for Friday night, heavy base and unbelievably loud voices thankfully finished at 2130 Saturday was great they went out for the day and was fairly quiet when they returned. Sunday morning, the sound of the car boot slamming at 0730 woke us up followed by their ridiculously loud talking, one of the party brushed there teeth using the fresh water supply tap while a couple played tennis then the music started at 8am. A call to the wardens to complain about the noise and the response he gave was they are leaving this morning, and that was repeated a few times, there was no way he was going to walk over to check, he advised that noise was allowed until 10pm, i did question him about not from 8am on a Sunday morning and then got the same reply, they are leaving soon, he then said the wardens have a walk around the site every evening and they heard nothing from the tents all weekend, we didn't see a warden go further than the end of the toilet blocks. Once the campers left, the site became quiet again and we enjoyed our last day. Its a nice site in a good location.

Quiet, peaceful site

We had a 3 night stay in our Campervan. Lovely and quiet, lots of wildlife and wildflowers around the site. Facilities were very clean and well maintained. Lovely walk into Buxton, which is beautiful with lots of eateries, park and gardens. Good for walking and cycling nearby. A short drive to Chatsworth and Bakewell which was the main purpose for visiting the area on this occasion, we will return to explore further.

Lovely quiet site

A warm welcome from the staff at this clean and well maintained site, set in a disused limestone quarry. The facilities are excellent and always clean, although there was an unpleasant sewage smell in the ladies toilets whilst we were there. There's no phone signal in the quarry, the TV signal can be weak, but the club WiFi works well. It's a tad tedious to have to log in every hour, but it's free, finally! Lot's of fabulous walks in the area, good value pub food and nearby Buxton is worth exploring. We will be back!

Beautiful site with lots to do in the area

We spent 6 nights on a serviced pitch, met by very friendly and helpful wardens. We stayed on pitch 16 on the right-hand side of the site which was very nice. Despite being pretty busy during our stay due to the layout we didn't feel hemmed in in any way. Plenty to see and do in the area. Some highlights from us were: walks in the adjoining country park, Buxton Pavilion Gardens, and Buxton Brewery Tap house (great food and beer and dog friendly). The only slight negative is that the phone signal was terrible, mainly stuck on edge - this was for Vodafone and O2. The club wifi signal was poor at best making it unusable, so be prepared! Certainly one to return to!

Second visit and just as good as the first!

We stayed at Buxton for 2 nights at the beginning of June and met our friends who live in Yorkshire. This was our second stay. The first being in February with our VW Transporter camper before we upgraded to our new caravan. The site will always have a special place in our heart. The first time we were complete newbies and the crew had great fun in teasing us back in Feb - but we survived the wind, the rain and the snow and it was on this site we fell in love with the CAMC. The site is spotless, Tracey and all work incredibly hard to maintain these standards. Every inch of the site is meticulously cleaned and well presented throughout. The laundry room and wash up rooms are well equipped and the shower block is new and modern with basin facilities as well as large showers. The pitches are large and well positioned within the old quarry. The setting is simply stunning. When we returned in early June we were greeted with sheep and lambs on the road up to the site. Just merrily minding their own business but what a picture postcard view - absolutely breathtaking. The Peak District is one of my favourite places on earth. You can take a walk through the country park which brings you out at Poole’s cavern where you can visit the incredible caves. There is also a go ape in the country park if you age children who would want to try the high and low ropes. Once you get to Poole’s cavern at the bottom it’s about 10 mins walk into Buxton where there are so many great eateries and pubs that you are simply spoilt for choice. We liked the Sun Inn as it was dog friendly. The food is fantastic with great portions and a good range of beers. The park is a must do. There is ice cream and a micro brewery where you can sit outside and enjoy the sun (if it’s out) whilst you refuel. We will return in mid July for another 3 nights here because it is such a great base. We will probably go down the road to leek and explore Staffordshire this time around which is just 15 mins up the road. Thank you Tracey and all the crew who make this site so good.

Lovely peaceful site

Lovely site in old quarry. 30 minute walk through woods to Buxton (elderly/disabled campers please note steep uphill walk on way back). While Buxton has some lovely historical buildings all worth visiting, the actual shopping street is very poor indeed. Was disappointed to see no bins at service points. Yet again, convenience to site wardens overrides inconvenience to campers. Otherwise, site and toilets maintained in good clean condition.

Grateful for being flexible

Many thanks to the team at Buxton. we used the site as a station for a local squash tournament. They let us check out later and accomodated our needs having not booked it. If I was not able to, this would have been stressful and inconvenient. They went above and beyond! Very clean facilities, would definately return. Matthew Nott

Lovely site

I’d like to say thank you to the warden who l woke before 6.30 in the morning as l had locked myself (and dog) out of my van. He helped me get back in and was very, very kind and patient about it, especially given what time it was! Thank you so much. It’s a lovely site with great walks just on the doorstep too
