Autumn in Buxton

Excellent site if for walking and exploring this lovely area. Buxton Camp is, as expected, managed to the usual Caravan Club very high standard. Site staff dressed up the entrance for Halloween which looked super, especially as the sun went down, the lanterns glowed and owls hooted!

Great site

Well kept site with very friendly wardens. Toilets and showers immaculate.  TV plug in guarantees good reception. Excellent walks from site to Buxton. Will definitely return.

Yet Another Great Club Site

Just spent 3 nights at this site with the intention of cycling. Was not disappointed. Site itself is located within an old quarry which at first gave me some concern, however, all facilities were very good and the bonus being the ability to plug in a Arial to booster located on pitch and receive excellent TV reception. Wardens very helpful, toilet facilities clean and well kept. Great Site, will definitely revisit.

Report

Just spent a very pleasant week, the site is well cared for and with a few exceptions, very well spaced out. The wardens were very polite and helpful. There is a great walk through the country park into Buxton, with wildlife in abundance(perhaps not so good if you find wildlife a nuisance and noisey) but we enjoyed every minute of it and would recommend this site to anyone.

Jewel in the hills

The site is in an excellent location for walks in the woods and across the moors. Also it is very close to the town of Buxton. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Facilities great, though I had to swap pitch as my elec cable wouldn't reach the plug-in point. I parked near the toilet block, it would be a long walk from the furthest edges of the site on a cold wet night!

Autumn stay

Just had four days here. Been before. Handy for the Peak District. Reasonably quiet. Avoid the pitches that back on to the Park as there are usually people walking by & shouting their dogs etc. The resident jackdaws tend to start squawking early doors & there are a couple of Tawney Owls that have a conversation during the night. The rabbits seem to like having a toilet in the middle of numerous pitches which need to be cleared before putting up your awning. The shower pressure is poor but the hot taps have plenty of pressure?? If you can live with these things then you will be fine.

Visit to the Buxton club site

We stayed at this site last weekend the wardens welcome was lovely, plenty of pitches to choose from. I would agree with other reviews that the wash rooms were very dated and the showers only let out a trickle if water not the best site facilities we have encountered but ok. The site is Very quiet and peaceful lovely walks and cycle paths.

Highly recommended!

If you are intending to visit the Peak District then this may well be the site for you. Set in a former quarry it has matured beautifully. It is laid out in small secluded bays which allows a great sense of peace and calm. Depending where you pitch can leave you quite some distance from the shower block but the wardens and facilities are of the usual high standard. The site itself is adjacent to Grin Low and Buxton Country Park. A short walk can take you to Solomon's Temple, Poole's Cavern or even Go Ape! Also a walk through the park leads to Buxton. The Art Gallery, Museum, Opera House and some great shopping make this a lovely place to spend time. The Crescent is currently being refurbished but is soon to open as a 5 star spa hotel should you want to indulge yourself! There are plenty of walks and cycling opportunities straight out of the site making this a good location for a wide variety of activities. Highly recommended!
