Buxton Club Site is excellent because the facilities are so good. Although almost every pitch was occupied it was quiet on the site. Heavy rain on our first night meant that by 9pm our motohome was standing in a shallow lake!
I am hoping that the number of people allowed in the toilet block at any one time can be increased soon; it is very, very frustrating to stand outside and hear all the showers going full blast when you need to use the toilet but cannot go in!!
Good site
We stayed for a week in May. We had a lot of rain (it is the Peak District after all!) but managed to not get too wet.
This site is very good with dogs as there are excellent walks right from the edge of the site, and a dog wash onsite.
We visited some interesting places fairly near and will certainly stay here again to explore more.
Only 2 minor issues for us: the wifi is really, really poor, verging on non-existent. So slow as to be effectively useless.
The second is that, because parts of the site are laid out in a series of cul-de-sacs, there can sometimes be a bit of a hike to the services. Not too much of a problem, just a bit of a pain. And we did note some people who could not resist following the direct route, through others' pitches. Not good.
Tip: the recommended taxi service to/from Buxton is by a very accommodating Glaswegian and is great!
Overall: recommended.

Great site
I stayed here for 2 short breaks in the middle of May 2021 whilst my car was having its wheels powder coated at High Peak Powder Coating, on the nearby industrial estate. (They did a fantastic job by the way.) The site is very picturesque with lots of walking and biking trails close by. It’s adjacent to Grin Low Country Park where lots of walks start from. When I visited the site was still subject to some Covid19 regulations, which were managed excellently. All 4 wardens were very helpful, very friendly and very respectful of visitors needs. Buxton itself, which is walkable from the site, is a wonderful place to visit, lots of interesting buildings and an excellent park. It’s possible to catch the train to Manchester from Buxton rail station for those who require some ‘retail therapy’! The local taxi firm is excellent and very reliable. Do try the pastries, they are delicious!
Brilliant wardens !!!!
The wardens on this site are amazing and totally went above and beyond to help us. Basically we messed up our booking and Mark managed to book us in for 5 nights and said he would keep an eye on the system to get the extra 2 we wanted. True to his word he came to see us the following day and managed to book us in for the extra 2 nights.
This site is in a beautiful setting with the surrounding cliffs, and it’s all kept lovely and clean. The walks from the site are wonderful. If you don’t fancy walking into Buxton there is a great taxi service that will take you and your dog.
Had a great time visiting surrounding area, especially after a shaky to our break.
Thank you wardens for your hard work and for being so friendly and welcoming.
So good that we came back for 2nd visit 3 weeks later
What we loved: great setting within old quarry; lovely walks immediately from the campsite; nice walk into interesting town of Buxton; good facilities kept very clean; friendly helpful staff - this site has all the key ingredients for us to make a top site.
Lovely Site
This is a lovely setting for a club site the staff were very helpful in moving our holiday on a day for us due to not wanting to travel on our original arrival date due to high winds. On arrival at the site the process was very well organised and we were soon on our pitch. I can’t comment on the facilities as we always use our on board shower and toilet but we didn’t hear any complaints from our fellow Caravans’s. There are no facilities for children on this site and at one point it felt a little like a traveler camp when several families arrived together and let there young children ride at speed around the site on bikes-and go carts thankfully it was only for the weekend otherwise this is a very relaxing quite site and there are some lovely walks and Chatsworth is a must even if the house is closed the gardens are still well worth a visit.
Exceptional Staff very clean and tidy
A very nice site with lovely walks close by but you do need transport if dining out but this is not a problem. Site shop has some lovely local produce. Being in a quarry anyone who has a constantly barking dog is a little irritating as it echo's around the site. But i would highly recommend this site you get a warm welcome and extremely helpful staff. Very enjoyable
There's always one
First time at Buxton and we will return. Fabulous location for wonderful country yomps and a good walk into Buxton. We cannot comment on the facilities as we were self-contained and the only things open were toilets and washing up area. The site has lovely touches like insect houses, a help yourself herb garden, protected wildlife areas, and feels very open and spacious despite the large 'cliff' faces. The little on site shop was well-stocked with essentials and edible treats such as pies, pastries, clotted cream.
The only slight sticking point was the length of time it took to process each arrival, which created a long traffic queue of folk wanting to get set up and make a cuppa. It took over a hour for some vehicles to get access to the site. We also think that the site could benefit from an additional amenities block as some pitches involved quite a walk to the one block on site.
Covid measures were in place, but that's when there's always one who thinks they are above such things and a global killer virus won't get them, nor are they willing to protect the vulnerable. Washing up facilities were clearly labelled one person at a time and 99.9% of folk complied, waiting patiently outside until their turn. The one, pompous, 'rules don't apply to me' woman came in, maskless, and was courteously and politely reminded of the measures in place, but apparently 'I won't be long' is a good-enough excuse. This is not a criticism of the site and the wardens who were doing their best to adhere to the welfare measures for the many.
We had to use our ramps to get a level pitch. As the site is located in a former quarry and is surrounded by high rocks, we found internet and mobile signals were very weak indeed, however we managed to get a strong TV reception. The rooks swooping high above the site kept us entertained.

Fantastic site...
Just spent 3 nights here, our first time in the peaks as a family.
Really friendly and helpful staff, especially Mark who greeted us at the entrance and advised us what we needed to do.
On site facilities were very well kept, excellent toilet and shower block, always clean when we used them. Numbers limited to four at a time due to covid which was reassuring.
The site location is great, you really feel away from it all, but so easy to walk into Buxton, and to Salomons temple, it’s literally all on the door step!!
No play area for the kids but tbh this wasn’t a problem as there is so much else to do.
Wanted to try the Mam Tor walk but the weather wasn’t on our side so looks like we wil have to revisit again - can’t wait!!
Lovely Site
Superb location, stayed here with our two dogs for two nights recently, enjoyed the trails through the woods to Buxton town and the haul up the hill to Solomon's temple, well worth it for the breathtaking view from the top of the tower!
Good, clean on site facilities, all COVID prevention measures in place.
Will be going back next year, hopefully when the weather is a little drier!
