Buxton Weekend

Had a lovely weekend at Buxton site. Was shocked at the long wait to check in and then disappointed not to be able to do contactless check in as promised by the club on all the recent statements The wristband system for the facilities was not as good as we had at Henley on Thames with little thought into keeping the bands clean and avoiding others touching them Was disappointed in the un supervised children allowed to ride round site on bikes shouting. We witnessed the wardens riding round on the tractor at speed well above the 5mph limit, very dangerous with so many children darting about The site is kept very clean and tidy and the surrounding area is great for self isolating, we walked for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon without getting close to anyone else A lovely site in a lovely town

Fantastic site.

Like many others, this was our first outing this year. Firstly I have to mention the staff who were excellent despite being under the cosh due to the current situation. We had researched walks in the area before going and every single one was breathtaking in its own way- in more ways than 1! Facilities were spotless and the wardens were really on top of the cleanliness. Only downside was that there were issues with sewerage blockages twice during our 2 weeks here but I suspect these were due to wet wipes being used to sanitise toilet seats & being flushed (despite warnings not to) rather than issues with the infrastructure. Good banter with other guests which doesn't always happen but I think we were all glad to be able to get away at last. All in all a good relaxing fortnight in beautiful surroundings and we have booked to return at Easter 2021- Covid permitting.

First timers towing a caravan and this site certainly did not disappoint.

This was out first trip with our newly acquired Eriba Troll and it certainly did not disappoint. Our chosen pitch was number 25. The pitches are very wide with ample of room for everything. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. On arrival we had trouble taking off our alko hitch lock, of course it was raining hard and we were drenched but the site warden was on hand to assist and helped us to get it off so that we could unhook. Very much appreciated. The shower and toilet block were very clean. Great site if you have a dog for walks, plenty directly from the site with no need to drive anywhere if you do not want too. We had 7 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring the Peak District and the peacefulness and tranquillity of the park. Thank you, we will be back!

First visit to this site.

Our first visit to this site and arrived at the same time as lots of others. Super friendly staff, all information given and apologies for having to wait due to covid procedures. The site was very busy and we took the first available site. As usual, the facilities were spotless and the band system for showers etc worked well. Other campers were respectful of keeping distance when around the campsite but as friendly and chatty as usual. There's a country park next door and access to Buxton. Unfortunately for us the route into Buxton was very steep on the return journey so walking is challenging for the less sure footed. Being motor home owners we had no access to a car for exploring the area. Because of the location we would not visit again, but this is no reflection on the staff or facilities.

Lovely tranquil site

Located in an old limestone quarry, very tranquil. an easy 20 minute walk into town. Buxton is an excellent town to explore. Shaun and the wardens take great pride in keeping the site in optimum condition. They are eager to please and socialise to make your stay as enjoyable as they can. Facilities are kept spotless to meet your needs. Can't fault it.

Excellent

After mistakenly arriving at Buxton when we should have been at The Firs (long story), the wardens, who had enough to contend with already, found us a space, booked us in and cancelled our original booking. Can’t thank them enough and our ‘mistake’ ended up as the best mistake we’ve ever made as Buxton is an absolute gem for walkers and if you’ve a dog, it’s doggy heaven. Thank you for a wonderful couple of days x

Wonderful site.

First trip out this year. This site has a wonderful setting. Everything on the site was in tip top condition and all the staff were so friendly and super helpful. The Peak District is beautiful and the site is ideally placed for exploring the most wonderful areas of it. Looking forward to returning to this super site.

First Visit

This was our first visit and we enjoyed the stay, however we were surprised to see the Site Full sign up for the duration of our site even though there were clearly vacant pitches!! The staff were hard working and helpful and we could not fault the facilities although felt that there could be more service points around the site.

Halloween visit to Buxton

We arrived for our first stay at Buxton site on the last week of October which was a very miserable rainy day however the lady warden in reception gave us a warm welcome that helped to dispel the grim feeling of the day. We chose a pitch in the cul-de-sac area opposite the entrance which had spacious pitches with hedges to separate them, a nice feature that gave a feeling of privacy. We had a problem on our chosen pitch with no power from the supporting EHU. A quick word with the warden and a few minutes looking into the problem soon had it fixed. Thank you to warden John for his help with sorting this out. The site has a dramatic backdrop from the stone cliff-like feature which shows its original purpose as a quarry. Floodlight at night it gave a wonderful Spielberg like feature to the site. The shower/toilet block was immaculate with plenty of facilities but unfortunately it was rather cold inside for the first few days. This did improve towards the end of our stay when the benefits of the underfloor heating could be felt. It brightened up on our second day so we explored Buxton which is a great place to browse and travelling to any of the nearby towns such as Matlock, Bakewell or Castleton is quite a treat as the scenery is breathtaking. Well, it is when the clouds aren't down to the ground! There were quite a number of roads closed during the time of our visit including some of the main A roads so I would suggest checking your route out before traveling, particularly if towing. A nice site in a great location, looking forward to a summer visit.

Excellent Site, walks and pubs on the doorstep!

Lovely welcome, perfect large pitches. Beautiful and clean facilities. Walk thru' woods into Buxton about 25 mins, uphill on the way back tho, Boots recommended! Ate in The Duke, really nice fish & Chips. Redwillow in the centre was fab! (we thought much better then the other Brewery one) Has its own beers and brewery, had a few ales and some snacks, Pizza etc... and smashing people! Only explored on foot for a couple of nights, will be back! A map of the Park would be good so more walking from site could be easily found. Thanks! :-) :-)
