Spent week aug 2020 post covid. Organization and cleanliness Of site very well done re covid. Lovely site with easy access to great walks to Solomon’s temple. No dog walk but site Is in country park. Very near Monsal trail ( Blackwell) for cycling but very busy so go early for parking. Steep muddy walk to and from Buxton through country park and near local caves. Local taxi only £6 and takes dogs. Buxton itself is lovely and the Railway Inn pub is a must for good value food and drinks. Lovely park in town centre with ponds and miniature railway. Opera house was lovely and crescent and water fantastic. Can see why it a spa town. Lots of places to visit Close by eg Bakewell which are lovely.Local countryside is very picturesque. We travelled to holmesfirth York’s home of last of summer wine and despite weather really enjoyed scenery and town. Had 70 mph gusting winds but survived despite awning nearly blown away and a phone call from wardens to come back. Buxton has its own microclimate so prepare for rain! Will definitely go back and plan to do more cycling and walks
Second visit this year, (unfortunately covid lock down in between)brilliant as usual, wardens doing a fine job, coping with frustrated campers, extra cleaning and a blocked drain, always a smile and friendly chat from any one of the staff, plenty of walks to be had, long or short, wildlife in abundance, a truly brilliant site. Again a slight niggle, that other campers think it is totally acceptable to cut through your pitch, to these people I say, PLEASE READ YOUR PAPERWORK AND ABIDE BY THE RULES>
Really impressed with the efforts put in to make this site covid safe
Lovely site and location - good pitches - easy to access bins, water and cwd points
Plenty of options for long or short dog walking
Beautiful views just a few yards up the incline in the country park
Fairly easy walk into Buxton too but taxis do a £6 fare into the town
Once again the Club never seems to fail, lovely well kept site, wardens on the ball and facilities excellent what more can you ask for! Walk into town a bit hilly if not reasonably fit. We did walk in but got a taxi back £8.40 which we felt was a bit much.
This was our first trip away this year following the trials that C19 had given us all. We were obviously aprehensive but didn't want C19 to take away our love of travelling. Arrival was simple and easy, with the staff friendly and helpful which made the whole process relaxing.
The toilet block have a simple process in place to minimise the number of people in there and the blocks themselves kept clean and tidy.
Fellow members were respectful of the C19 rules but still friendly and always up for a chat (keeping social distance) which was much appreciated.
The site itself is in a disused query and so the TV signal was varied but liveable, but I would suggest taking a booster if TV is something you would expect to use a lot. Phone coverage was ok for us (on Vodafone) but not brilliant. Could make and receive calls but a 3G signal was the norm.
Nice walk into Buxton but not for the faint hearted as it is quite hilly here.
So, in short, great site, great location and excellent wardens on site, will be visiting again.
What a lovely few days away at this site, lovely walk down into Buxton through the wood, such a pretty town. We cycled the Monday trail which was very busy but worth the trip to Bakewell. We drove to Edale and hope, wow what absolute stunning scenery didn’t know places like this existed. Wonderful for cyclists if you love hills. The Buxton site was so very peaceful and at 10pm you couldn’t hear anything. The shower block was the best one I’ve been in but it was refurbed 2 years ago. Always clean and spotless. The wardens didn’t hassle you Like some sites which was nice, always gave a wave on his little tractor. Thank you for a lovely few days in an amazing Area. X
Had a lovely weekend at Buxton site. Was shocked at the long wait to check in and then disappointed not to be able to do contactless check in as promised by the club on all the recent statements
The wristband system for the facilities was not as good as we had at Henley on Thames with little thought into keeping the bands clean and avoiding others touching them
Was disappointed in the un supervised children allowed to ride round site on bikes shouting.
We witnessed the wardens riding round on the tractor at speed well above the 5mph limit, very dangerous with so many children darting about
The site is kept very clean and tidy and the surrounding area is great for self isolating, we walked for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon without getting close to anyone else
A lovely site in a lovely town
Like many others, this was our first outing this year. Firstly I have to mention the staff who were excellent despite being under the cosh due to the current situation. We had researched walks in the area before going and every single one was breathtaking in its own way- in more ways than 1! Facilities were spotless and the wardens were really on top of the cleanliness. Only downside was that there were issues with sewerage blockages twice during our 2 weeks here but I suspect these were due to wet wipes being used to sanitise toilet seats & being flushed (despite warnings not to) rather than issues with the infrastructure. Good banter with other guests which doesn't always happen but I think we were all glad to be able to get away at last. All in all a good relaxing fortnight in beautiful surroundings and we have booked to return at Easter 2021- Covid permitting.
This was out first trip with our newly acquired Eriba Troll and it certainly did not disappoint. Our chosen pitch was number 25. The pitches are very wide with ample of room for everything. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. On arrival we had trouble taking off our alko hitch lock, of course it was raining hard and we were drenched but the site warden was on hand to assist and helped us to get it off so that we could unhook. Very much appreciated. The shower and toilet block were very clean. Great site if you have a dog for walks, plenty directly from the site with no need to drive anywhere if you do not want too. We had 7 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring the Peak District and the peacefulness and tranquillity of the park. Thank you, we will be back!
