New year at Burrs.

We stopped at Burrs for four nights over the new year period, good friendly and helpfull staff who keep the site looking clean and tidy. A good pub just outside the barriers which serves good food and is dog friendly. Only critisism is that the ammenities block is looking a little tyred and could do with a face lift, and why when the site is allmost full bis some of the ammenities locked off. But on the whole a pleasant and relaxing site in a convenient area. We have been to Burrs several times and will be returning.

Facilities looking tired unfortunately

Stayed at this site many times since it opened but it has seen a decline in the toilet block facilities due to wear & tear and vandalism I suspect. This assertion is based on the male showers but my wife noted similar deterioration in the ladies. The block is in need of much needed renovation. The wardens do a good job as usual but "you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear" comes to mind. The location is excellent for nature lovers and dog walkers and the pub is handy but £56 for 2 nights over the New Year seems a bit steep. A toilet block refurb however would change our views

But.........

Visited early December, 2 couple site, very friendly but..... why do they insist on locking off 3 showers, 3 toilets and 2 privacy cubicles? 3 persons cleaned most days except on days off so just don't think it's right when the site is running almost full. Whoever decided that a hand dryer should be positioned above a radiator needs their head examined. ( ladies loo block)

2 Nighter

Stayed for 2 nights, wardens very friendly and helpful. Taxi into the centre is around £5. The motorhome service point is not in the best place. Take a long hose with you as you can only enter it one way and if your fill up point is on your offside you could struggle, no turning round is allowed and the water pressure on site is not the best. Would I stay again......if I had to use it as a stopover.

Standards

Visited Burrs Country Park 18th to 21 Nov. A site which we have visited many times over the last 5 years. I feel that the standard of keeping up the pitches had dropped. Appreciate that it is Nov but a lot of pitches need attention. The pitch we were on was mainly sandy ,needed weeding not much gravel, good job I didnt take an awning. Pegs would not have held. No base. The site is good and handy for lots of places. Other than that the visit was perfect. Clean and tidy facilities . Wardens were fine.

Burt's Country Park

Nice site and lovely walks for dogs. Pub and cafe on doorstep. Great for anyone interested in steam trains. Nice staff, very welcoming, facilities could do with a slight update but very clean. Will be back again sometime in the future.

A jewel in the crown

Second visit to this site, albeit very brief! What a lovely surprise, being so close to the centre of Bury! Staff lovely, nothing too much trouble. Facilities spotless, lovely showers. Lovely everything really! Would highly recommend.

Enjoyable stay for East Lancs Railway Autumn Steam Gala.

Bought our first caravan in March and was determined to visit this site for the East Lancs Railway Autumn Steam Gala as I had seen the site on previous occasions when visiting past Steam Gala's and thought what a great site to be on if ever we bought a caravan. Well, we bought one and visited and was certainly not disappointed. The site is very well presented and well maintained and the staff are ever so friendly and so welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The only slight complaint which came from the wife was the rusty radiator which greeted you as you walked into the ladies toilets. But seeing as the hand drier was situated right above it there was nowhere else for the water to fall apart from on the radiator. Will definitely be returning for next years Spring Steam Gala but will be staying a few more days instead of the four we have just stayed for. It's the best site we've visited out of five others around Lancashire and Cheshire that we've been to since buying the caravan.

Another great weekend

Had a great weekend once again at Burrs. There have been a few negative reviews regarding too many notices posted around the site mainly about dogs making a mess and quite rightly so ! I fully agree with what the wardens are saying we took our dog into the dog walk and promptly stepped into some poo yet there is a bin provided next to the access gate- how tired can people be ! The wardens do a great job but some folk just don't like rules or think they don't apply to them....
